Staff here are great and go out of their way to help. I got loads of advice from one and I appreciated his advice. The hotel is rather old and faded which is a shame as externally it is imposing and a good building. It really needs investment, but you can tell that the staff are working hard to do what they can to make things work. I think it as good value for what I paid. The lobby and lounge areas are tired and not somewhere you would want to linger. The room I had was clean but outdated. There were some frustrating features: kettle that could not be plugged in without balancing on wine glass, despite the kettle being provided there were no teabags. The bed was comfy and the room was clean and I had a quiet night's sleep. Which at this pricepoint is all I really care about. Hotel is well located for the business area of Amman. This hotel has security, as do most hotels in Amman.
the hotel is modest, a bit old but reasonable for the price paid. staff are very good and welcoming, not so far from haya cultural center. you can see that amenities are old but management trying to keep it finctioning and providing good services to its guest... they play nice soft music in the lobby at morning
I recently stayed at this hotel during the first week of November, I must say having read the reviews I was a little apprehensive but that soon went away once I had checked in. I was given a room on the fifth floor with a great view of Amman. The room was decent and very big for a single person. Overall the staff were great, Dr Ali the owner was always at hand to help and assist when possible. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the le venedome. The WiFi was super fast in my room and that is a big plus point with me. My only critique is that they had no English TV News Channels. Would recommend this to anyone. Thank you DR Ali and all the staff for making our trip to Amman enjoyable.
Firs time I stayed in this hotel was about six months ago, and today I can say that a big changes had happened to this hotel, I agree it still needs a lot of work but it seems that the management is determined to raise up the quality of this hotel
The Pro's of staying at the Le Vendome are its close proximity to downtown Amman, it's quietness and the willingness of the staff to make your stay enjoyable. Sadly, the Con's are such that it needs a large investment to bring it up to Western standards for a 4 star hotel. Everything that's been said about it being run down with not working or inefficient electrical goods is true. The hairdryer was so scary with its spitting and crackling, I hastily unplugged it as I was sure it would burst into flames. We were given a suite when we returned at the end of our stay and were made as comfortable as possible, but woefully the lack of amenities doesn't make up for all that is sad about the hotel. We didn't see another guest in the five nights we stayed at the hotel, which in itself is indicative of its decline. I wish I could recommend it as the staff are lovely, but sadly I can't as it really isn't up to western standards and I'm seriously worried about its standards of safety.
Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The room was run-down. Air conditioning and refrigerator were not working. Bathroom was dirty and the toilet paper holder was broken. Hotel staff was not responsive to guests. Not a 4 star hotel!
This hotel is not as bad as many reviews state. The sad fact is that the 90% fall in tourist numbers has hit them hard. Very few people apart from passing tour groups stop here and as a result they have cut back on staffing and facilities. It is on the correct side of the city for the airport and a taxi downtown is very cheap. There are a few reasonable places to eat nearby and a very well stocked off license/alcohol store.
Stayed in the same room for a night each at the start and end of a tour. Bathroom was dirty and room was chilly (heater did not work). Free wifi (though intermittent). Some choice at breakfast and they did accommodate us for an early start. Lobby had numerous 'no smoking' signs which were ignored and thus the whole area smelt of smoke. In financial area and few places to enjoy a nice meal at night.
Our tour company booked us here. No way is it 4 stars. We arrived in the evening and there was no charm or ambience in the reception. Instead we were greeted by a bouncer type guy at the door when we put our bags through the xray. The hallway smelled like kerosene and extremely musty. The minibar fridge wasn't plugged in and there was no light bulb in the light by the TV. The TV remote's batteries were dead. The sheets had holes in them and the bathroom towels didn't match, the toilet paper roll was broken and the toilet paper (at least they had some of that) was stuck on top of some sort of pole. We looked for the fire escapes -- that's how nervous we felt. We decided to go out to the Grand Millenium up the street for drinks. Upon exiting the elevator in the Levenda lobby, there were only two guys on some couches and it looked like they were doing a drug or arms deal. So we made tracks for the Grand Millenium hotel (truly four or five stars). After only five minutes at the bar we decided to get a room there instead. We went back to this horrible hotel to get a change of clothes and the sliding glass door was closed. We had to wait for the bouncer guy to open the door for us. Seriously, our spidey senses were on high alert. Do not stay at this hotel. It is zero stars.
The hotel was awful. The whole reception needed a clean. Staff were OK. Breakfast was pretty poor. The knob to turn the shower on broke off in my hand. It's very much in the business district and whilst there were places to buy water, snacks, restaurants, etc, it was very much a soulless modern city feel to it all. Only stayed there as it was part of the tour I was on. I would not recommend.
