Great visit to Rothay Garden Hotel, Grasmere

Really enjoyable stay at the Rothay Garden Hotel. Room spotless as were all amenities and food in the restaurant excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Hope to return next year.

Excellent hotel

Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel. We were upgraded on arrival to a better room which was large with a beautifully lit bathroom with toiletries. We spent a relaxing hour in the spa, the hot beds are an excellent idea and I am missing it. The room was extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The garden was fabulous and the restaurant beautifully designed to maximise the garden view.

Loved the fact the property was a short walk from village centre and alao the trickle of the stream outside our room. Food in the evening meal was fantastic, with the dining area giving lovely view of the garden

Relaxing countryside retreat

Firstly this is our go to hotel in the Lakes. Been using this hotel for over four years now. As usual the staff are great throughout the hotel. The food at breakfast and dinner were excellent. Unusual for the UK I know but we had two days of sunny hot weather. We were allocated the on site wooden lodge adjacent to the Spa. Unfortunately the lodges do not have aircon, and being in the wooded garden we couldn't open the windows due to flying insects. Using a single fan in the bedroom didnt help. Maybe insect devices are needed along with aircon units. Ps. The spa was great and included in the roon cost.

The property was very nice clean and spacious, The food was that nice we stayed in both evenings to enjoy. The only complaint if any was the jacuzzi style plunge pool broke down on the first evening of our stay therefore it was not available throughout which is one of the main reasons we booked this hotel. The staff were very helpful throughout the stay.

We had a really lovely stay for 2 nights at Rothay Garden. We booked dinner on the first night which was high quality. The views over the garden from the restaurant were really relaxing. We booked a luxury room which was really clean and spacious and had a terrace.

A beautiful property with everything you need. The spa was very small but we ended up being the only two people in there from 18:30 till 20:00. The dinner was delicious and breakfast was lovely. The staff were attentive and helpful. A really lovely last minute getaway.

Expensive rooms and pay to park on top

The accommodation was expensive and then you are charged £10 per night to park when they cannot guarantee space in their small shingle car park. I thought that a shabby and grabbing change since the hotel buy out. By comparrison Grand at Grasmere is newer, slick, clean and cheaper. Great views of lake, car park marked out, and free. Will book there in future.
