I went ther with a friend for a Wedding, we were very stressed leaving behind our kids /husbands/ work etc.. and arrived to the perfect place. It was end of October so we enjoyed the “altar contest” where all the dead’s altars where presented so beautifully, the vibe of the place, the view, the street all green and silent...the massages! All was amazing We had 3 different massages and the Temazcal and were happily rejuvenated. After the Temazcal you go to the flotation with warm water and sweet hot tea mmmm we felt so loved and pampered! There was a lady that made our hair look beautiful for the wedding... and the weekend brunch is great too with fresh Quesadillas and juices ... all was amazing. Shiatsu massage changed my life, felt like 20 years younger !! And the pirámide where they charge the water with crystals . Such a nice touch!! The labyrinth... the garden... can’t wait to be back!
This hotel is very special. The whole vibe of the place is about peace and quiet. The rooms are nice and thankfully dont have tv. The rooms have speakers for music. They have massage and Temazcal services. The guided Temazcal was great better than in most places. The views of the mountains from the hotel are amazing. The pool isnt cleaned that often and it is not heated. It is not in the center of Tepoztlan so you do have to take a cab or drive to downtown.
Location is amazing. When I booked it, I was really hoping to get a Zen/Quiet/Detox experience. A chance to have some quiet time and meditate. Instead I got the following: - Smoke: Yes, smoking is allowed in this so called holistic retreat hotel. This was hard to believe. I was trying to detox in one of the most "famous" spots in Tepoztlan and people were allowed to smoke all over the place. - Noise: Rooms are very noisy. One can hear next room's conversations. - Silent Zones Non-existent: there are many "silent" zones in the hotel. However, this rule is not respected. Ever. - Old Rooms: Rooms have not been renovated in years. At least where I stayed (Tibet Room) - AC did not work in my room. - Dozens of dogs barking all night long. If you are looking for a normal SPA, this might be an option. However if you are looking for a true holistic experience, meditation, relaxation, tranquility, this is definitely NOT the place. When I tried to explain all these issues to the management, they just gave me a complaint from to fill out. I had to cut my trip short for 1 night eventhough I had already paid. I do not recommend it and I'd never go back. When I
Location is amazing! Perhaps the best treat of the hotel. Room was nice though a bit noisy being close to restaurant and swimming pool, though the hotel request guest to restrict the use of cell phones, several people do not obey this and talk loud on cell phones. Room had some water problem but it was solved fast after a phone call to the reception. The weakness of the hotel to me was the spa services, therapists need training to provide an experience and soothing touch of skilled massage. Too much pressure hurt my back muscles.
This is a delightful place in every way. The ambience, the cozy pretty rooms, pretty restaurant, luxurious spa, pools, jacuzzi, and grounds. Thanks to the staff who went out of their way to make my stay so pleasant. Just an hour from Mexico City and a short drive to the center of Tepoztlan, Hostal de La Luz offers the maximum in Mexican hospitality. What a great place to relax and be restored!
This is a great hotel with a lot of different holistic experiences. Food is based on the flavorful mexican cousine. Service is great. The room we used for our conference meeting had an inadequate acoustic for our purpose. But other than that it was perfect experience
This place exceeded all my expectations! The food was amazing and the staff attentive. I was surprised that they would let you dine where ever you chose. Many pockets of beautiful places in resort to escape and retreat. pools and hot tubs spread all over property. Spa services top notch. Can't wait to return!
We spent the weekend and had a Temazcal with Andrés, the shaman. Amazing experience, amazing place, and service from all the staff. If you are seeking NATURE, and Peace of mind I recommend. It´s a not a party place, it´s a place to relax and go within.
Very weird experience. I was trying to make a reservation for their Tlama Grand Suite. But after two emails I asked how much the total would be and if they might have a discount for three nights. That's when they totally ignored me. I sent out three more emails but they never bothered to answer any of them. Strange for a $250 USD per night room! I'm a very frequent business traveller and have never faced an issue like this before. Mind you I'm also fluent in Spanish, so it's isn't a case of language barrier.
This is a beautifully crafted spa resort hotel outside of the small town with fields of grazing horses and cattle on either side. The spa offers several unique treatments and the facial and massage was good. Some therapists are better than others. Most of the staff are very accommodating and friendly; however don't expect the staff to necessarily speak English. They make super smoothies and have a pretty endless cool pool as well as a heated pool. I guess it can get cool in winter. The mid-range suites are very comfortable but they only offer wi-fi and mobile signal for your cellphone in one location, Try the labyrinth guided meditation walk with your eyes closed. Great attention to detail with holistic spiritual statues sprinkled around each area with its own character. There's no gym. Incredible views of the mountains in the near distance and lovely colorful landscaping, cobbelstone streets with cows meandering down the hill and fields of horses grazing. Its supposed to be a vortex. The Dalai Lama has blessed this spot.
