We were honeymooners that stayed in room 6.01. Whilst we got special treatment elsewhere in greece amd italy - decorated room, wine or chocolates or something small on the house - nothing special was provided on welcome here. That's ok as long as everything else goes smoothly. The service was great. The room not so much. We had 2 nights here and 2 rooms. We were in 6.01 first with the cave features, huge balcony and huge bathroom but there was no plug for the spa bath. We asked that night and got given a plug by the next day and then we almost flooded the bathroom as the plug couldnt be removed and the hot water handle spindle fell off and so this couldnt be turned off. We were bailing water and had to call reception who turned the hot water off to our room. This meant we had to move rooms as the hot water was the only sink tap we could use and the bath was almost flooding over so we couldnt shower. We got moved to 6.06 which was lovely with the sea views but again the cold water tap didnt work and the same problematic bath plug was there so we didnt dare risk take a bath which was a shame. Being here in autumn there was no smell in the cave in room 6.01. Our only other disappointment was with the very basic food offered. In the breakfast there was no hot food in the buffet - no eggs, bacon, mushroom, beans etc which was what we were accustomed to in our 4* greece and italy hotels. We realised through over hearing others ask on our last day that apparently we could ask for eggs to be cooked but there was no forthcoming signage or communication by the service staff or on the tables or buffet area that this was available and included. Our suggestion would be that the staff and tables advise and offer guests this hot egg offering as we were upset we were unaware and had missed out on our usual preferred hot (non european cold cut meats and cheese option) during our stay. For these reasons i concur with some others that the standard of maintenance and food is a little overrated and is more aligned with a 3.5* hotel. There were some lovely aspects though. The location of the hotel was good, only a 15minute walk down to the beach. The front desk service and customer service attitude was great. The parking was close and easy albeit 20 euro/day. The view from our 2nd room 6.06 balcony was superb. We found both rooms to be clean. There was a well set up restaurant area - big balcony, pretty views, friendly service. Just a few improvements to the plumbing/maintenance/food to lift this hotel to a 4* rating in our opinion.
Hotel Posa Rosa was up a loooong hill, as most all hotels are. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was clean. Our room was large with a balcony and had beautiful views, the bathroom was also larger then we were use to. The breakfast served was standard to the other places we stayed. This hotel was great, but I would defiantly stay somewhere closer to the beach.
As the title of my review, this is an option if you really want to stay in Positano. Upon booking this hotel, I knew this would be my least favorite hotel of my Italian holiday (which also happened to be my most expensive one as well). This hotel gets away being so expensive because of its prime location in Positano (which is the only reason why I'm even giving the hotel a 3). While most rooms you get a amazing views, our room on the 2nd floor had a tree blocking it, and thus that was lacking as well. In addition, the furnishings are very old and the hotel is in need of a good renovation. Lastly, our bathroom was quite moldy. I just closed my eyes while I showered. Again, stay here for the location and the view but not much else.
Very very good reception and friendly staff. The reception staff were very helpful with parking the car and providing informations on busses, ferries and walks. Wifi was hard to come by in the room but was available in some spots throughout the hotel. Offered good views across the rock face of Positano. The room was a nice size with plenty of space. Breakfast was lacking with no hot food displayed only on request.
Best part about this hotel is the views. Worse part is the paper thin walls. No privacy. Walk to beach is at least 20 minutes as you dodge cars on one way street, negotiate 400 steps and tourists, nice workout but the hike back is challenging. Free bus available, but we walked both ways. Restaurant, breakfast very average and of good quality. Dinner was a bit overpriced for what you get. We were shown a live lobster for dinner, but when it came they only served half. We asked for the other half and they agreed but, really? Reception staff were really superb, that is to Marie and Julio for going a I've and beyond to act as concierge and for help with the noise issues. Delightful staff!
Thank you so much to Hotel Posa Posa for a wonderful stay. We just spent 6 nights in Positano and could not recommend this place enough. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived, special thanks to Julio and Giuseppe who went above and beyond to look after us. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the main town, although there are shortcuts down the steps, but it offers amazing views of the coastline. There are many restaurants nearby as well, all with great prices. The restaurant in the hotel also served delicious food at reasonable prices so definitely worth a visit. The pool area is quite small, but this didn't matter as it is such a small hotel, although you do only get sun on the roof until about 2pm so it is sometimes better to go to the beach anyway. The rooms were very large and spacious, as were the bathrooms and even featured a jacuzzi bath. Positano is not a cheap place but we felt like Posa Posa was one of the more reasonably priced hotels in the area. Thanks again for a great stay, see you next time!
Giuseppe is the best door greeter, singer, spirit raiser, and a fine gentleman!!! Was greeter by him on arrival and from there on it was stupendous in every way!!! Clean environment every place you look rooms are terrific balcony to see all the views! Dinner on the roof, we had sea bass, wow, so delightful, we were all singing song from our era Giuseppe and I were enjoying it all!! Fun was had by all and the hotel is to be rated 5 stars by us!!!
Stayed here in September 2017. The staff were very nice and the Hotel has good bones but this is a 2 to 3-star hotel - not a 4 or 5 star. . Rooms and hotel are poorly decorated - hotel needs to hire a professional decorator to sort out all the poor taste issues. The pool and pool area is absolutely horrible - I have seen better pools in the ghetto of Philadelphia. The hotel is in a bad section of Positano - parking garages out front of hotel and very poor hotels neighboring the Posa Posa hotel. Not a good area. The buffet breakfast was horrible - not even close to what a typical Italian hotel serves at a buffet breakfast. Fire the head of the kitchen and get someone new that knows what they are doing. Views are OK - better to stay closer in to the center of Positano. Anyone thinking this is a 4 or 5 star hotel has no travel experience in Europe.
We arrived late in the evening after traffic to find our reservation was not secured. This was not the hotels fault but that of our travel agent. The woman at the from desk did make room for us for the night, and we were thankful. That being said the hotel was not clean and was smelly. The inside room had no windows, smelled, the bed felt like sleeping on cardboard, we found pink fuzz under the covers of the made bed. Made us wonder if the sheets had been changed. The air conditioner was not effective and the included breakfast was lacking. Stale bread with limited options especially if you don't eat cold cuts.
The cost of our stay at this hotel was the most expensive of our three week trip to Italy. We had a junior suite with sea view and it didn't disappoint in terms of location, view and room size however the rooms were a little tired and our magnificent balcony was not as clean as I would have expected. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There were many great restaurants in a short walking distance and the walk down to the beach and ferry area was only 15 mins away. I would recommend this hotel and we loved the location within Positano.
