Decent hotel with good service , clean but average rooms . Rooms need upgrading though . This used to be a great hotel many years ago . Service is quite good . The front desk staff are very courteous and helpful . The garden on the hotel property is gorgeous . Location is good . There are few restaurants closeby . Breakfast is average .
Before coming to this hotel i was kinda worried after reading all the negative feedback. It turned out to be just a perfect stay for us. We stayed here for 3 nights. Room is big and in quite good condition. Breakfast is very good, full of different variety of food. Indoor pool is nice. We enjoyed our stay a lot.
Old hotel and can not be rated as 5 stars. But...great staff (had early arrival and they were very kind and fast to find a room. A swimming pool /hot tube combined with winter garden. Superb wi-fi. Convenient location =100 meters to the left after Circus you will see an entrance to a metro. The metro stops are located near a Green Basar, hotel Kazakhstan (on the way to Medeo) etc. A good alternative to taxi. On the right side of the hotel (cross the street) located a museum of Arts (and inside you can find a gallery of local art). On the same street you can dine in chaihana "Tubeteika" (reasonable price/good food). Overall, will definitely stay again.
It looks quite oldish from outside but, once inside, it's quite different. Huge dome-like lobby with a bar / restaurant in the middle. The room was spacious enough, could do with new wallpaper, though. But above all, everything was working, the service was good, wifi as well, good breakfast (included) and overall service. For 70 euros a night, can't really complain. Spa looks great but did not get a chance to test it.
Rated as a 5 star hotel but no coffee making facilities inside the room, the minibar was locked as if I’m staying for free. Mind you that you took a couple of hundred dollars beside the full amount as a security deposit. Rooms looks dated. The positive side is that your staff is very courteous, check-in was fast and the breakfast buffet was good.
Everything about the hotel the services the facilities the food and the staff were excellent throughout our stay The family loved to visit and enjoy the facilities Nothing was too much trouble and the rooms and the room services were top class We will definitely return each time we visit our family in Almaty
This is my fourth time at Rahat and it have always good service and good breakfast. The free internet its real good. Good location and near to the metro. The Hotel have several restaurants and a spa with a big swimming pool all with excellent service.
We live in Almaty and were looking for a place to get away from the house with our two kids- mission accomplished! We had a really nice stay at the Rahat; you can tell it was glorious when it was first built, but now is just classy and a bit worn, like your favourite Gucci loafers. We loved the pool, the room was very clean and well turned out and they hooked us up with a crib and bed for our kids no questions asked and no added charge. The breakfast was AWESOME!
I just finished a 3 night stay at the Rahat Palace Hotel, which is no longer a Hyatt, although it seems that some people, including the hotel, still refer to it as the Hyatt. It is not a 5-star hotel, but it also is less expensive than the true 5-star hotels in Almaty. My general impression of the hotel for most of my stay was that it was a decent hotel, clean and good value, as a 4-star hotel. However, my impression changed when, shortly before checking out while in my room, I noticed many red welts on my arms and legs. I thought it might be a rash, but then I thought of bedbugs, which I had never experienced before. I then looked up bedbugs on the internet and saw photos of bite marks that were the same as the welts on my body. I then saw photos of bedbugs, and while looking at the photos, I saw an identical bug on the desk in the hotel room, which I killed. It seems clear to me that I was a victim of bedbugs in this hotel.
Good location 200 metres from the Auezov Theatre metro station, the Circus, National Bank and Central Stadium. Designed with an attractive and spacious atrium. Nice gardens with great outdoor restaurant serving good shashlyk. Unhappily restaurant occupied by a stray cat causing a health hazard with young children. Yurta bar pleasant for a relaxing cocktail. Helpful reception staff. Main restaurant serves an adequate breakfast but reminders needed to get tea and coffee. Could have been a broader selection. Was not open in the evening. Some nice Kazakh delicacies though. Carpet was surely the same as when the hotel first opened in the mid to late 1990s which was indicative of the age of much of the furniture and fittings. So rooms in urgent need of complete make-overs. Representative of a three star hotel. Nostalgia not to be repeated.
