I just finished a 3 night stay at the Rahat Palace Hotel, which is no longer a Hyatt, although it seems that some people, including the hotel, still refer to it as the Hyatt. It is not a 5-star hotel, but it also is less expensive than the true 5-star hotels in Almaty. My general impression of the hotel for most of my stay was that it was a decent hotel, clean and good value, as a 4-star hotel. However, my impression changed when, shortly before checking out while in my room, I noticed many red welts on my arms and legs. I thought it might be a rash, but then I thought of bedbugs, which I had never experienced before. I then looked up bedbugs on the internet and saw photos of bite marks that were the same as the welts on my body. I then saw photos of bedbugs, and while looking at the photos, I saw an identical bug on the desk in the hotel room, which I killed. It seems clear to me that I was a victim of bedbugs in this hotel.
Good location 200 metres from the Auezov Theatre metro station, the Circus, National Bank and Central Stadium. Designed with an attractive and spacious atrium. Nice gardens with great outdoor restaurant serving good shashlyk. Unhappily restaurant occupied by a stray cat causing a health hazard with young children. Yurta bar pleasant for a relaxing cocktail. Helpful reception staff. Main restaurant serves an adequate breakfast but reminders needed to get tea and coffee. Could have been a broader selection. Was not open in the evening. Some nice Kazakh delicacies though. Carpet was surely the same as when the hotel first opened in the mid to late 1990s which was indicative of the age of much of the furniture and fittings. So rooms in urgent need of complete make-overs. Representative of a three star hotel. Nostalgia not to be repeated.
I just had dinner in the lovely garden of the Tau Samal Restaurant opposite the Rabat surrounded by green and trees the food was genuine and fresh house wine above expectations and the stuff was excellent especially a young waitress Alila she was lovely professional and very keen to please the customers especially demanding European Spokes Ladies like me ;). A special thanks to the Restaurant Manager Daulef and all the stuff at the Restaurant. I will always remember their kindness and that gentle touch that we have long forgotten in hectic crazy London. Definitely they know here how to welcome international customers.Bravo!
This is a nice hotel in a quiet location away from the street. The hotel is rated as 5 star, but this is far from the truth. The hotel is old and the decor requires an upgrade urgently. The showers are not the best and the toilet flush button kept coming off the hinges. For a business trip, this was adequate, but I would choose elsewhere for a family vacation.
Got this place on a corporate deal so can't complain about the price. But still for a 5 star hotel they need to urgently do something about the rooms. The carpets should have been replaced few years back.
Service is generally pleasant, nice lounge bar in main central atrium. Also nice garden restaurant bar at front. That part is a good 4 star. Rooms are 2-3 star. Be careful of the mini bar. Various things out of date. White wine 11 years old. Red wine fine, but white wine...Also no Iron or tea/coffee facility in room. For '5 star' that should be standard.
We were booked into this property by friends because of the price performance ratio. And that's all all about this hotel. Even though we checked in on a Saturday and checked out on a Sunday the process took very long. They had only one lady at the reception who was very busy checking in 8 of us. All reservations were found but still the check in & out took too long. The rooms are ok. For the price I don't expect more. The size of the room was ok, but the equipment was a bit old. The aircon showed its age through the noise it made. The rest was ok. For one night it was ok but I doubt whether I would return. Maybe for the price it is a quite worthwhile deal.
For sure it was once a very good hotel in Almaty, the design is great. Actually the breakfast is also very good, I would say better than in many other hotels. Big minus , is that in some rooms the the windows do not close properly and in winter you can smell the smog :)) That's the reason why I do not book anymore.
Recently stated here for two nights while taking part in MFORUM fitness conference. My room was on third floor and a good size. Sufficient room to set up a laptop and do some work. Conference staff were very helpful and all audio visual equipment was to a reasonable standard. Health club has an extensive swimming and relax area but gym needs an upgrade. The equipment looks tired and gym was experiencing a leaky roof during one of my workouts which needs fixing. Found staff in the restaurant very friendly and helpful.
6 nights here on business. The hotel is very clean and welcoming. The rooms are arranged around a large central atrium (reminds me of Embassy Suites layout) . Everything works, the staff are first class and the facilities are good. The only small points which hold me back from top marks is that the public areas are not well air conditioned and the gym is a bit stuffy. However, I wouldn't be looking at any other hotel if I return to Almaty. The airport car is a bit pricey compared with a taxi but with a very early flight the extra comfort was welcome.
