Stayed for a few nights during a recent business trip. Hotel is roughly 30 minutes from the airport and easy to get to. Driving up to the place is impressive, beautiful kept grounds with hundreds of rose bushes in the middle of the city. The hotel had an elegant look and feel when inside, staff was friendly and always greeted with a smile. Stayed in a standard room with a king size bed. Room was nice, bedding/furniture was clean and comfortable with a well appointed bathroom. Had lounge access included in package, so visited nightly. As with most international lounges, alcoholic beverages were available free of charge and provided some tasty light fare (wish US lounges were the same). The included breakfast was excellent as choices were plentiful with a good mix of different styles of food. The view of the snow covered mountains outside my window was fantastic! The gym was ok, only one elliptical machine, but had a nice size pool with jacuzzi. Out back of hotel had a beautiful garden area named " the beer garden". With the extremely pleasant weather, this was a excellent place to relax and grab a drink. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. The price seems to be on par with a hotel of this caliber and the view alone made this stay well worth it.

The facilities in this hotel are great. The gym and the pool are good with sufficient space and equipment. The rooms are nice and clean, although the air con is a little bit noisy. Staff is friendly, although I encountered several misunderstandings through the phone in English. For example: I ordered room service for a set time to be delivered, however it was delivered directly. Apologies were offered though, including some extra food items free of charge. The hotel is in line with other Intercontinental hotels.

Good hotel nice room and high prices. Their is not much alternative for deluxe hotel in Almaty therefor the intercontinental hotel offer everything what deluxe hotel can over. If you have time I can recommend you to visit the opera house with great Performers and low entry price.

This hotel has a superb customer service that I've ever know. Welcoming you as if you are family and always treating you special. I have welcome fruits and cupcake, a welcome note, a personalized TV monitor to greet me, and a good night delights during my stay. I even left my hoodie in the room. After a week I returned and was happy to receive the hoodie delivered in my room. It was really appreciated. Looking forward to staying in this hotel again soon. Good selection of food for breakfast.

Room design is pretty outdated (however, within expectation based on what I saw of the city from the airport to the hotel) but it is pretty cosy stay - bed firmness was right for me and there was a pillow menu to choose my pillow from. What i liked best was the gym facility and the indoor pool. Having a drink and meal at the sunset bar was also a pleasant dining experience. Breakfast options were sufficient, though did not change much from day to day and sometimes restaurant staff was shorthanded. Overall, had a fairly good experience during my 2-week stay there.

The InterContinental may have been the belle at the ball in years past, but sadly it feels worn down and out of date. While the service and the staff are very attentive, everything in this hotel is quite out of date. Perhaps that could be considered part of its charm, except for the stale mustiness emanating from the 20+ year old carpet. Having said that, they stay was pleasant and you have great views of the mountains.

Located at the center of the city. Not offering any amazing views. Rooms look quite old but provide reasonable comfort and low level of noise. Gym is well equipped with treadmills and weight machines. Offering good selection of breakfast.

The hotel is on fairly large grounds, and has great service. The decor and furniture could do with some updating, but otherwise a well run place. the breakfast buffet is a bit overpriced at 10,300 KZT, and has a standard spread. One item missing from the rooms is an alarm clock, or any kind of clock. you need to contact the front desk to set up a wake up call. the TV/remote in my room werent working so I couldnt use that. There are some dining options in the hotel - i had dinner 'open air' behind the hotel one evening. service was good, and the food OK. if you can get a room facing the mountains, the scenery is amazing. there is a mall across the road from the hotel called Almaly that has some souvenir stores, but was mostly empty. You can walk about 15 minutes to Abay station and take a metro for 80 KZT to Zhibek Zholy to visit some tourist sites near there.

Hotel is definitely pricy. But quality corresponds to the price you pay. Rooms, wifi, breakfast - all high class. Loved the express breakfast corner near reception that is open there up to 6 am. Excellent solution for jetlagged customers.

Not that I have stayed at other hotels - and the Ritz Carlson is probably very good too, but this is a super good hotel. Great rooms - and the ones on the front of the hotel has a great view of both Independence Square and the mountains. There is a large indoor pool, and in summer you can go outside to a sunning terrace. There are several restaurants, two outside in the garden, one with buffet and one with a la carte. The consierge is very helpful with arranging tours etc.
