The staff at this hotel is exceptionally good. Always friendly and ready to help. I liked the turkish restaurant a lot. The spa is also well done. A huge and modern supermarket is about 15 minutes walk away. The hotel hotel has an elegant touch to it. Sadly I cannot boast about the rooms. These really need renovating. All in all a good stay and I would return
I stayed at the Intercon Almaty for five nights. The staff were very professional and helpful and had a ready smile and very willing to provide assistance. I was pleasantly greeted with a spread of pastries and nuts and a bottle of juice when I entered the room which I truly appreciated since I arrived at about 2.30 am. I was in a non-smoking floor/room with a view of the snow capped mountains. The extensive breakfast buffet spread had everything you would want during breakfast and there is an egg station which will prepare your eggs to order. Since the meetings were held in the hotel, I did go to the restaurant for lunch, which again provided an extensive selection of meats, vegetables, and desserts! Memorable dishes during lunch were the roasted lamb chops and liver and onions! Truly enjoyable meals, with very attentive wait staff who were always available to assist but never intrusive. The gym/spa at the basement level had a Turkish hammam and FInnish sauna. Definitely a unique feature of any hotel. Uber is available by accessing the FREE WIFI - FREE WIFI is provided which is great! As a rule, I do not use Hotel Foreign Exchange Counters because of the unfavorable rates - Intercon Almaty is the single exception! The rates are very good and it would probably cost you more to take a cab and get to get your Kazakh Tenge somewhere else. So I definitely recommend using the ForEx counter at the intercon. The room has consistently been clean and well kept during my stay. Complimentary water is provided and replenished everyday and fruit gel morsels are provided when the bed is turned down. Tthere is also a reliable and enjoyable Kazakh restaurant Gakku, which I will review in a separate entry, is a pleasant 7 minute walk from the hotel. The local area, judging by the high end vehicles parked on the street is fairly affluent and safe and I was never concerned for my or my colleagues safety. There is no shortage of cabs and private vehicles to drive you to your destination. Uber is available - just make sure you get wifi so you can order Uber back to the intercon. Thank you for a wonderful, stress-free and memorable experience in Almaty!
I haven't been to Almaty for almost 10 years and my return there was very pleasant one in great part because of the hotel. I came on business and the hotel provided me with the kind of service and amenities that helped me to be productive and at the same time to have rest after long hours in transit. The rooms are spacious and well furnished, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom well stocked and everything worked fine. This is not the newest hotel in town by any means, but it is quite well maintained and has an ambiance of some class to it. There are several bars and restaurants on the premises and they also have their own bakery. Breakfast buffets are very good an provide a wide variety of choices for different palates and tastes. The staff was attentive and friendly. They are eager to provide you with good service. Very positive impressions after my recent stay there.
Whether staying for business or vacation, you will not be disappointed with the Almaty Intercontinental. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with nice decor. Service all around the hotel (front desk, breakfast, etc) is very friendly and efficient. The breakfast is outstanding. The gym and indoor pool are good. Be advised that the hotel bar and restaurants can be expensive, but you will get good service. I have stayed here twice for business, and I highly recommend it.
A Turkish style hotel, the Intercontinental hotel in Almaty provides a good stay experience in the heart of the city. Luxury intertwined with a classical touch this hotel has some really good views of the city. Large, clean room with a reliable wi-fi connection. The staff are cheerful and very helpful. Had a smooth check-in and check-out. Overall it is a good hotel for business travelers.
InterContinental Hotel Almaty is a great hotel, it made in Turkish style. Service was very helpful, rooms are clean. Dining in the restaurant Bosforus was good. Can reccomend it to everyone who stays for business and leisure.
the people and the service in this hotel are perfect, all functions properly, fast and reliable WiFi, effective check-in and check-out, concierge of highest quality / Chief Concierge did a great job for me/. The facility needs modernization however
Stayed during a trade show so it was quite busy. There is nothing bad to day. Service in the bars and restaurant was good. Rooms are good quality. it is very typical of an Intercon type Hotel Good business Hotel.
After trudging around the Lake Issyk-Kul area in Kyrgyzstan and enduring terrible hotels and food, to walk into the soaring lobby of this Intercontinental was a truly uplifting moment. Oh joy of joys! Mercedes and BMW limos, even a Maserati, acres of marble, flower arrangements, legions of smiling staff, guests in smart suits, glamorous women, a glimpse to the left of a proper restaurant, hustle and bustle . . . I felt I had come home. All the pain of the last few days vanished in seconds. Our room was exactly as I expected - spacious, beautifully equipped, a desk, power plugs, deliriously comfy beds, a panoramic view of Almaty. Two things let the room down just a little - the TV was old with a small screen and the bathroom had a tub with a shower that was quite difficult to access. You get one leg in or one leg out and were left with the other leg wondering where to go. A slip seemed likely. We had a dinner in their rooftop restaurant which curved elegantly. There was just the two of us and one single gentleman. And a pianist. With just three customers, service levels were incredibly high and the food of the ‘fine dining’ Michelin variety. The weakness of all this was they served the food on freezing cold plates. Breakfast downstairs was an extensive buffet with an egg station. There was a whole honeycomb which always impresses me. The room had a terrific buzz and could have been in Singapore or Hong Kong. Two nights here left us feeling refreshed before taking the overnight train to Shymkent.
