Golden Tulip Alkmaar4.0 out of 5.0

The hotel is located a little bit outside the city center, but can be reached easily e.g. by taxi in 10 minutes from Alkmaar Station. The building, entrance area and rooms are from earlier times, but all areas have been renovated or updated with modern items. The room (superior) was large, clean and comfortable; Wifi works good and is for free. Bathroom is also not very modern, but large and as well comfortable. The restaurant and breakfast area are both fine, good food, breakfast is rather standard. Prices are ok, rather high, but overall it was very comfortable stay in the Golden Tulip.
The location is practical (close to the ring) the outside parking huge. The hotel is a tower without much Charme. The staff is friendly, the room is ok, the bathroom quite basic. You are not tempted to spend some extra time in that hotel.
The hotel is located close to the highway and about 20 minutes walk from the city centre. It has enough parking space. There is not much to do close to the hotel. The staff is exceptional, they are very friendly and a request is done very fast and with a smile. The room for three persons was nice and spacious. The beds are ok. The interior of the hotel looks a little bit old. Breakfast(optional) was a little disappointing; the scrambled eggs were not very warm and looked like they were there too long, the bacon was on the raw side. The bar downstairs is not very attractive for an after dinner drink.
Stayed here for 3 nights while spending weekend in region for friends and family. I was pleasantly surprised about this chain hotel. great service, excellent room, good breakfast, and overall great value. I asked for indoor garage for car, at a low 6.50/night cost. Center of city is a bit far, but this was not my reason to visit. Excellent alternative if you need good business or personal stay in Alkmaar.
We stay in many hotels. However this one stands out. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Decorations are very interesting and modern. Highly recommended. Breakfast top quality. Good location and big room.
Worth seeing, Lovely rooms, I enjoyed the long walk on the beach, and a lovely evening in this hotel, The hotel has a lovely expensive feeling, but I found the price to be reasonable , I had a free minni bar, shame I don't drink spirits!
This hotel is very easy to find if you are driving to Alkmaar. The free parking is nice, the rooms are a good size and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast was varied and plentiful. And as others have mentioned the staff are especially friendly and helpful. This isn't a five star deluxe property, but then you aren't paying five star prices either. But on the scale of quality/price it definitely gets five stars from me. You aren't in the centre of this stunningly beautiful town, but if you have a car this is the place to be. You can walk to the centre, or you can rent a good quality bicycle from the hotel (€9.50 per day). Tip: if the weather is good rent a bike and make a tour through the farmland and dunes to Egmond Aan Zee where you can enjoy the seaside and have a typical Dutch lunch before cycling back. Detailed cycling maps are available from the tourist office (VVV). Parking tip: A reasonably-priced parking garage near the centre of Alkmaar is Parkeergarage Schelphoek, just down the road from the hotel. It is modern and spacious compared to some other garages in the centrum. €15 per day maximum, but you won't pay nearly that much if you are just there for a couple of hours. The bottom line: Alkmaar is perfect for a day or two visit away from Amsterdam and the bigger cities. If you only visit one smaller Dutch town, this is a great choice. Alkmaar will give you a real flavour of the Netherlands.
Easy to find with friendly staff and comfy beds and a nice breakfast. Not the most picturesque setting but a trip into the historic centre made for a super stay with many excellent restaurants, and the tightest indoor car park in the centre that I have ever negotiated
A fairly basic hotel. The rooms are OK but nothing special. The staff was nice and even though they messed up my room they treated me nice. The breakfast was very standard in selection but the scrambled eggs looked like they were there for a long time even though I was there at 07.00. The sliced cheese looked like it was at least a day old...
We enjoyed our stay with 3 childs for 4 nights. The rooms were equipped very well, very clean and big. The service was good and responsive for all needs. I would add microwave to the room, it was missing for me. Except this, evrything was great.
