Lovely setting on beach. Rooms overlook the sea and are spacious. Mediocre food in the restaurant and overpriced. Best to try one of the local restaurants in the area. When I first came twenty years ago the area around the Parador was not developed and you had no choice. Now there is plenty of competition to the Parador. Service from the staff is very good. There is a charge for parking, even for Amigos de Paradores!
It was our first stay in a parador, and we were really looking forward to it. For 200E dinner bed breakfast this was to be the highlight of our holiday to celebrate my husbands 55 birthday. When we arrived the wind was howling through the reception area through the gaps inadequate sliding doors. The reception was not friendly, there was no nice greying, just boredom at having to deal with another guest. and the reception area was depressing with "pebble dashed" walls perhaps once white in colour and now greying reminiscent of a school from the 70s. We stayed in room 106 which we found to be in need of renovation, the bathroom grout was grey, the toilet seat shabby and there was this old fashioned sliding door between the bathroom and the toilet cubicle, the type of door you see in the 50s movies! the room was furnished with shabby green wooden furniture, which was fashionable in conservatories several decades ago. Having had a long journey we would have liked to have a bottle of water in the room, but there was nothing... nada. The meal was noticeably salty as were the scrambled eggs at breakfast. I had some stew for the main course which had soggy roast potatoes in it! A noisy troppey was used to trundle the food around the dining area, our room was above the dining area and we could hear it like thunder from the room. This hotel is long overdue a renovation. Unfortunately on this occasion we felt that our stay in December was well overpriced and was not reflected by the quality of the establishment.
The location and surrounding areas provide for all your requirements. The promenade is wheelchair accessible and gives a pleasant trip to enjoy the selection of bars and restaurants. The opening times can be a bit restricted depending on the time of year.
Stongly recommend, spacious and high quality, good location! Javea is a bit "far away" from the main routes, but really worth visiting. The bay and services around are nice and the city is a lively place!
The location of the parador as well as the welcome provided by all the staff make this a great place to stay for a few nights. The breakfast buffet is wonderful. The rooms have small fridges and a table as well as balconies overlooking the sea and beach. The views from the restaurant are also spectacular.
We arrived at the Parador on a beautiful warm sunny afternoon and after a leisurely check in mostly spent chatting to the receptionist it was up to our usual room , unload our bags and off for a swift half before dinner. Our old Friend Pedro the waiter was there to welcome us and as I speak some Spanish a quick chat and gossip was had. A real character and very knowledgeable, with a very professional touch, second to none. The food at dinner is excellent, and of a very high standard, and one never need leave the Parador, as its standards are very high. However my wife and I like to adventure out and try different things so within our stay, at dinnew we eat in only once or twice. Breakfast is superb, with a great range of foods on offer, and all as one expects of the Paradores a very high standard. I must add their boiled eggs (ask for 5 mins if you want runny eggs) are my favourite. Turning to the bar and lounge area this is always fairly busy and this is a good location for a pre or post meal snifter or two. Turning to the rooms these are really well appointed, and the beds are very comfortable, ensuring a good nights sleep. Decorated and furnished in a classy Spanish colonial style , this fits the image of expectations perfectly. The rooms also have terraces with a good space and with the views over the bay, it is difficult to drag yourself away, especially when watching the sunrise. Concerning housekeeping, the rooms are always spotlessly clean and well maintained. In summary this is a well run Parador in a fabulous location, which has a classy ambience . Luxury that doesn't cost the earth- just don't tell everyone.
I have just returned from the Parador de Javea and I don’t know where to begin to start praising the place. From the word go it lived up to every expectation. So this is going to be a long, long review! Prior to arrival I emailed the hotel to ask about something and within 10-15 minutes I received a welcoming response from Raoul (that’s 10 minutes). I knew right then that if Reception takes the trouble to respond so speedily, this really is going to be a good place to be. And that’s exactly what it was from start to end – cheerful, happy and professional. I want to make special mention of Raoul who did everything he could to help whenever I needed it. Also Bridget - but I have to say all the girls at reception were always smiling and helpful. No wonder the guests look so happy & the rooms are all occupied. I was looked after excellently and they added some very special touches. I had a senior birthday while there and they surprised me with a plate of fruit & a pretty bottle in my room with a card. I was delighted - and what a thoughtful touch. It was my first stay in a Parador and I couldn’t have asked for better that Javea. The view from my room was absolutely gorgeous. Imagine waking up each morning, opening the balcony door & looking out at a blue sky & blue sea. Like paradise. The room was large, the bed very comfortable and there was plenty of space. It was spotless and well serviced and the excellent toiletries provided were replaced as required. It means one doesn’t have to carry quantities of ones own. PS: I loved the fact that the bathroom had 2 sinks even though I only ever needed one! The buffet breakfast was ‘lavish’ and plentiful and replenished as soon as any item looked like ending. There were plenty of hot and cold dishes, fruit, cereals, sweet pastries, coffee and juice. Tables were cleared quickly and if you asked for anything, it was brought right away. And what can I say about the dinners? There just isn’t enough to say. That they have a most excellent chef is to really not say enough. In my opinion he is excellent. I had the 3-course dinner each evening in the hotel and each and every one was totally delicious. I loved the food so much that I over-ate every single day - which I hasten to say I never normally do. And I would like to send my Compliments to the Chef yet again in this review. Both the bar lady and the waiting staff were attentive and discreet and like all the others, happy and smiling. It makes a great difference to guests to have smiling staff in a hotel. One evening they had a ‘3 Tenors 25th Anniversary Concert’ which was worth every Euro. The singers were very good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. What a great idea to hold musical events at such a beautiful venue. The morning I left, I had to leave well before breakfast, so they actually packed me a ‘picnic’ to take along just to make sure that I wasn’t left hungry. How thoughtful is that? I doubt many hotels would have bothered. The idea of going to the Parador de Javea was for a quiet and relaxed few days and that’s exactly how it was - tranquil, laid-back and stress-free. I mostly sat around on the terrace or in the lounge and read and was just content and felt very fortunate to have found such a peaceful and delightful hotel with such a great ambience and staff. To the Manager: I am sure you know you have a lovely Parador and a super staff. Congratulations! I thank you all and I will return.
Jaded from travelling, arriving early evening, we were calmly greeted with a warm smile from a focused, efficient receptionist. Check in was swift. It was dark when we walked into our room, a spacious twin; opening the curtains we stepped onto a private and sizeable balcony to be greeted by a breath-taking view; a sweeping bay, the tide gently rolling in, the foreground of the hotel gardens and a tidal inlet to the small marina with a backdrop of the moon over the mountains. Paradise. A huge choice of food available at breakfast time, the helpful staff contribute to the calm atmosphere in the hotel restaurant looking out across the gardens to the bay. We did not have a problem with the hotel being a little dated, in fact in a way, it added to our enjoyment, having stayed in ultra - modern hotels, the style of Parador Javea had a solid comforting feel. In addition to our room being spacious it had plenty of wardrobe storage, a safe, shower over bath, his and hers sinks and separate toilet / bidet area. The ladies attending to daily cleaning and maintenance of our room are a credit to the hotel, thoroughly cleaned each day. The only negative comment I have to make is in regard to the beds; very firm / hard mattress; other than that, we were really sad to leave when our last day arrived. We would love to return.
We had a wonderful experience at the Parador de Javea for my husbands "special" birthday. Beautiful setting, superb location, comfortable room, very friendly and accommodating staff and lovely food. We will certainly visit this Parador again and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
As the organiser of a group of over 100 attending a three day 41 Club event at the Parador I can only thank the hotel staff for the assistance and excellent service we all received during the weekend . The attention to detail at the two evening functions was second to none. Thanks to everyone at the Parador for helping to make our weekend such a success.
