Stayed just one night for a meeting but most likely would not stay again. The mattress was very hard and the pillows were not good either, which made it for an uncomfortable night of sleep. Also, it is noisy: you could hear everything on the room next door, especially the bathroom. Breakfast was very busy during low season and the selections were disappointing for a hotel this style. Very basic and plain buffet. The views are great (ocean view rooms) and it really is not that far from the city center (app. 5 min drive) plus there is a beach across the street. It seems like a hotel very suitable for families and the pools were nice too. The staff was a major pro: everyone was friendly and attentive. It just wasn't our style of hotel.
As we were there for golf our appetites were healthy so the lovely food was a treat after the 5 hours of fresh air. Staff were excellent, smiling and friendly, which always a treat. We have now used Villa Gale in Villamoura, Tavira and Lagos in Portugal - this is our No. 1. We will be going back here again.
We are a frequent traveller to the Algarve. We have stayed many times in Lagos always out of season. Choose Vila Gale as near to our friends and offered everything in our requirements. The positives.1. Well appointed. 2. Very clean. 3. Reasonable buffet breakfast. 4. Location. 5. Indoor and outdoor pool. The Negative. 1. Very very noisy. When full unbearably so. You can hear everything. 2. Typical Portuguese hard beds. Would we go again? No as soon was really bad in our opinion.
My wife and I stayed in this hotel for a few days in January 2018 and it was amazing, between the staff, food and facilities we couldn't fault it one bit, it's close to Lagos but still in a secluded enough area that you can relax if that's what you're looking for, highly recommended.
This hotel is one of the most beautiful places we have been blessed to stay in. It's in a wonderful area, 5 minute walk to the beach and about 10 min walk to the Marina :) From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Micaela at Reception our holiday was off to a wonderful start, nothing was too much to ask of this wonderful lady. Our room was very spacious, our beds were very comfortable and having a balcony with a view of the pool area was amazing as we also had a view of the sea. The food was impeccable especially since I am a Coeliac, again nothing was too much to ask. Eduardo helped me at breakfast, I was brought out a tray with all different offerings on it for me, my husband had the normal breakfast and he was able to pick an omelette with toppings which was cooked while he waited. We then had breakfast that evening in the hotel and Eduardo seated us and even had the page of the menu opened on the gluten free section which I found to be extremely thoughtful and excellent service. Larisa in the bar was also wonderful to deal with as were the ladies in the spa, I had a reflexology treatment and the lady did a wonderful job. We availed of the free parking at the hotel but you can also park your car under ground which will cost €2 per night. Check out went very smooth and we will most definitely going there again and recommending to any family or friends heading to that part of Portugal in the future.
We didn't stay much in the hotel. The hotel was clean, and comfortable. Location just outside of Lagos, I would think it a little to far to walk into town though. The breakfast was OK, but did have eggs cooked to order. What I thought was the coolest part was the on-site dive excursions. Unfortunately, I did not bring my gear or plan to be gone on a dive trip. They did have gear for rent though.
Ok nice looking on the out side but very basic on the inside. Rooms ok very basic bathroom nice but I don’t know why everyone scrapes chairs this sound you hear most of the night and keeps you awake. As it was winter we used the indoor pool which was full of ferrule children the pool area smelt of a fish tank the hot tub was a yellowish colour and children were in it so you can imagine why it has a yellow tinge! Pool is cold and dirty the only good thing in that area was the sauna which children were using they have a good health and safety policy at the hotel. The bar is ok a bit messy they have 2 pool tables, darts, PlayStation and tv quite a large area. The breakfast is horrendous they have a student on the egg station clueless! Pastries and food very poor quality mostly out of a tin. Cereal stale pastries hard fruit no flavour just no effort made for the guests it’s not difficult to do happy to show them how to improve this establishment I know it’s 4 star that’s only because of the views and location near the beach. It could be a 5 star hotel but needs a lot of work! Would I come back probably not.
We had an amazing stay over Christmas. The hotel and the room were clean, nice and modern. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is right by the beach and it is only a 15-minute walk into town. There are buses that stop nearby but we didn't use them. We had the breakfast buffet included and it was varied and delicious. We also ended up having dinner either at the à la carte restaurant or at the bar every night because it was affordable and excellent food. They have their own wine which is also delicious and we were invited to a free tasting. I'm not sure if it's like this all year round or if it was just because it was Christmas but we were given a lot of free things, vouchers and deals on cocktails and at the spa. We each got a massage at the spa and again, no complaints there. Thanks for a very nice stay! Obrigada!
2 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 5. Family rooms are huge and lovely balcony area. The food was excellent, hotel very well maintained and clean. Staff really lovely, great location for the beach and a walk to the town centre
We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a 20 day self driving tour and it was our least favorite place. Very dark decor. Close to the beach but far to walk into the town of Lagos. The breakfast was excellent though. Many bus tourists, noisy areas and long check in.
