We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a 20 day self driving tour and it was our least favorite place. Very dark decor. Close to the beach but far to walk into the town of Lagos. The breakfast was excellent though. Many bus tourists, noisy areas and long check in.

very nice and friendly staff, if we back to Lisbon stay here again. highly recommended. really good outside area, near to the beach and easy to go to city. train station near by, supermarket and you can fell the day by day city life

Another lovely stay at the Vila Gale group. Weather was fabulous at end of October/beginning of November with just the odd shower of rain. Still lots of time on the beach, the closest being Meia Praia which is a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel was great, staff are mainly friendly and helpful, very customer focussed. The rooms are immaculately clean but are beginning to show some small signs of wear and tear; this doesn't bother us too much as we spend very little time in the room. Good big bathroom with powerful showers as well as a bath with plentiful supplies of hot water. The suite is large, but could perhaps do with a little more storage and a make up mirror in the bedroom. Food at breakfast and dinner is plentiful, although it is very busy and can be daunting at first. I particularly loved the seafood night as I am a big fish lover. We never struggled to find something to eat, but I do think vegetarians may struggle to find mains to suit. Great outdoor areas around the pool, there is also a putting course and tennis court (equipment can be hired from reception). Pleasant walks through the gardens and nicely maintained . There is a kids club, playground and outdoor kids pool. The kids club is not running in November but you can use the facilities in it. There is an indoor pool together with sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, gym etc. Treatments can also be booked within this area. Children are allowed to use the pool area from 10-5.30 each day, but all users must wear a swim cap. The one area which is always disappointing is the bar and entertainment. The bar is always very quiet and the entertainment non existent. As parents of a young child we don't want a huge amount of entertainment but some would be nice. The team were winding up whilst we were there and the hotel was decorated for Halloween, but it would have been nice to have an end of season finale with a small show. All in all a lovely relaxing stay and I am sure we will return again.

We found this hotel from TA reviews. It is slightly outside of town and having a GPS is helpful if arriving by car. It is a beautiful hotel with spacious surroundings. Very large restaurant that fills up for the amazing breakfast buffet. There is a spa, indoor pool and exercise room. The outdoor pool is massive and I think not heated with lots of lounge chairs and an outdoor bar. It is a very short walk to the beach. About a 20 minute walk into Lagos. They have a bar/lounge with music. Our stay was perfect and relaxing. Michaela at the front desk was so friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend. Just lovely.... Thank you!

We stayed in a ground floor family room at Vila Gale Lagos for the school holiday week this year. The room was very clean and comfortable and large enough for the four of us. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially in the restaurant and bar areas. We were told the hotel was fully booked but it seemed to be mainly bus tour travellers who were out and about during the day so the place was quiet without having to compete for use of facilities. We stayed all inclusive. The food was of good quality and varied enough that we didn't get bored with the he choices during our seven night stay. Everything was very fresh and well prepared. My only criticism would be that there was a definite lean towards the German tourist preferences whereas I would prefer some more local options. Small point though. We used the outdoor pools and indoor spa area. The main pool is stunning, exceptionally clean and great for a proper swim. The kids area is set to the side of the hotel and has a small water slide and play park along with some loungers for the adults. Our boys loved it and wanted to play most days. During peak months there is Club Nep for kids. Unfortunately it was not running visited which was a shame considering the UK holidays were underway. We love the Lagos area and have visited many times before so it was nice to be able to walk to the town. With kids on tow at a gentle pace we could make the marina area in 15 mins or so - could be done in 10 mins without kids at a brisker pace. Meia Praia beach is a few mins walk from the hotel grounds. Guest key cards open a gate next to the pool area, from there you can. Cut through a small car park, over a railway line (very safe, don't worry) and through to a walkway to the beach. It's a huge beach and very clean. We would return to this hotel again.

Very nice, smart, tidy hotel in a good location for the beach and for walking into town through the marina. Rooms well appointed (but no irons allowed in rooms). Our room was a family room with sea view directly above the bar, and evening noise was not a problem at all (with windows closed). I suggest you check the local menus before choosing between all inclusive and breakfast only, as local restaurants can be expensive (with the weak pound) and the hotel restaurant's evening buffet is €25 per person if not all inclusive. Spa is very good but quite busy with kids at times. Gym basic but large and adequate. Nice grounds (orchard, putting green etc). Outside pool is very big!

We had a 4 days workshop in september at Vila Galé. Our rooms were as expected, food at the buffet was more average. We enjoyed the time especialy due to the awesome entertainment team (Sofia and the DJs). Many thanks!!

Experience far below expectations. Located near the beach and approx. 20 minutes walk to center of town. Rooms are very noisy, matresses very hard and should be replaced, generaal lighting very bad and lighting in bathroom not working properly, temperature water in shower varying all the time. Hotels caters mainly for german budget tour operator. Highly overpriced for guests travelling on individual basis.

We were there in what is probably the shoulder or off season, early October. The hotel is opposite a beautiful beach with powdery white sand and a nice surf for swimming; when there, during early October, the weather was very warm, so the surf felt warm as well; loungers are available at the beach but there is no natural tree shade or palapas. The pool is large with a number of lounge beds and shade; there is a lovely bar with a terrific wait server, and there are tables, chairs, and a small menu is available. We took the room with buffet breakfast included option but there were people there who were on half-, full-board, or all all-inclusive models. Check-in and -out were done courteously and efficiently. The rooms were very clean, of a good size (we overlooked the pool and could see the ocean in the distance); and, with nice amenities; parking was easy, we chose the open air rather than covered parking. There is a motorized train with a close stop just on the other side if the road that will get you downtown and out to the point. The breakfast is typical for an all-inclusive style hotel as was the dinner buffet. There were crowds at the dinner hours opening and tables might be difficult to get but later on we (4 of us) had no problems. They do have an a la carte restaurant, but you really need to make reservations at the front desk, which we did not know when we got there. However, we were escorted in (the path to the restaurant is through the dinner buffet although there is an outside entrance from a patio), and were accommodated. We would definitely stay here again. Unable to click the ratings for the following: Service: very good Sleep quality: good Rooms, very good, very clean, and a good sized balcony Value: good value for the money

We have stayed 4 times for 5-10 days since it opened in 2009 and it grows on us. Love the location close to town and beach. Comfortable rooms but bar lacks any atmospere until a crowd may warm it up. Breakfast Buffet is outstanding but can be crowded with poor access. We have never gone half or full board but menus seemed fine. Pool area, its bar and snacks, is magnificent. Most staff have been pleasant and helpful when necessary. Lacks any beach facilities but just across the road from the back gate is the Tivoli Hotel's Duna Beach Club with all its facilities for €12/day per couple. Walks to the extremities of Meia Praia are a ritual (try it for sunrise!) and seeing the local net fisher men and women on Sunday mornings is worth an early rise.
