Booked this place for the close proximity of the sea and the spa facilities and wasnt disappointed. Asked for a sea view and I could see the sea from my bed. It was a 3 minute walk to the beach. The spa was great and the hotel immaculate. A little quirky design which has an 80s feel but we liked it and expected it as we had viewed the photo gallery before booking. All staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and good.
My sister & I enjoyed a short 3 night break here where the staff were excellent - special mentions to Jose, Ruben, Ulysses & Andrew! The buffet restaurant was superb for both breakfast & dinner & very good value - if you enjoy white wine they have an excellent bottle for just €13 Santa Vitoria. The pool is amazing, huge with plenty of comfy sun beds & umbrellas. There is free yoga/Pilates on the lawn each morning & a lovely spa too. The leisurely walk into town is 15 mins or if you go along the beach 30 mins & the town is gorgeous, lots of little lanes with shops to browse & a lively marina. The only point I would mention is that the pillows aren’t great, a bit too bouncy. A great choice of hotel, will definitely visit again - thank you!
Visited the villa gale last week with group of friends. Hotel is about 15 min walk from marina. The hotel is lovely, minimalistic and modern - set on beautiful well kept grounds. The pool area was huge, 3 large connecting pools. The indoor spa area is nice, plenty of reasonably priced treatments, sauna etc. Hotel rooms were very spacious and clean. Breakfast was pretty good, plenty of choice but buffet lunch wasn’t worth €16 and didn’t include drinks (not even water). Food could have been a bit warmer too. Front desk staff were really friendly. If I was returning to Lagos, I would visit this hotel again if the price was right.
Good location, on the other side of the city centre but it is easily accessible. Close to the beach, 100m. This is quite a big hotel that welcomes tourist groups and also business events. I had a family bedroom which was very spacious and close to the restaurant, so handy to check on the kids who are sleeping when you’re eating. Bathroom was good, with a bath tub. Free Wifi everywhere. There are 3 restaurants: the buffet restaurant which is okay although the themes can sometimes be a bit strange. One night it was about sea food, so if you don’t like fish or sea food, there was very little alternative but okay. Breakfast was good, served in the same place. The other restaurant « a la carte » and the Italian pizza by the outdoor pool. I did not try them. The hotel has two pools, an inner pool in the spa near the gym and a beautiful and big outside pool that we could not try since the weather was appaling and it rained like crazy when i was there. Staff was very nice and professional. Drinks and food are very reasonable for such a touristic place. If i return to Lagos, i would return to this hotel and hope to enjoy the pool this time. I recommend this hotel but i cannot judge how this is during summer since it must be crowded. It was my second stay in a Vila Gale (been in Ericeira before) and i must say i have not been disappointed.
Excellent hotel very clean breakfast gud but snack bar by pool and pizzeria very inferior plastic cups snack bar and tough bread husband broke tooth and pizza very soggy not very good at all staff very uncaring
We stayed here for three nights. All was great! The hotel is very sleek and clean. They have both an indoor pool and large outdoor pool. We had breakfast included in our plan and it is very good. The only thing that I can fault is the lack of a concierge. There is no literature of nearby activities at all. That would be very helpful because I know there is a lot to do in the algarve, but I do not know what. I was hoping to get information on local offerings but there was nothing at all at the hotel. It is a beautiful facility that is out of the town but close. It is across the street from a lovely beach.
Stayed for a golfing trip recently and found the hotel was modern, smart, very clean, and in a great location. Staff are extremely friendly. Breakfast has a good range of food with fresh bread and eggs cooked to order. The pool area is very spacious overlooking the beach. No coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms though.
Just spent 9 days there and we were very impressed with the hotel generally. Really well kept, spotless grounds and rooms made up daily, very well presented staff. The place feels fairly upmarket. Nice SPA / sauna / massage rooms etc. The selection in the buffet has something for everybody, the breakfast was especially good. The new pool bar / pizzeria had just opened, it was good however the same staff went between the pool bar and the inside bar - only one opened at a time. My main issue - It often took quite some time to get a drink at the bar. Usually just one person working during the day and it could take 30 mins sometimes to just get a single drink. Night time had two people working but it could take just as long since there were more clients there. I guess this could be pretty annoying in high season. It was also horrible when it rained, the balcony was unusable (facing Lagos). Being a couple of KMs out of town you are pretty stuck with nothing to do. It was an older clientele during our stay who seemed happy enough to sit around but our kids were bored. There's a little onsite shop but unfortunately doesn't sell snacks or soft drinks etc.. You can though pop to the gas station across the street for this. Generally really nice hotel though, maybe more staff come in high season to speed things up.
Me and my wife were booked to stay here for 9 nights but by night 3 we had just about enough. It wasn’t exactly bad.. just lacked an atmosphere. 80% of the staff seemed disinterested and were not very welcoming. The room was dark and the decor could only be described as odd. The hotel is fashion themed and has pictures of random models everywhere. Just a bit weird for us. Can see a certain type of person having a great stay here but just not us unfortunately. The room had no kettle!! There was an option to have one bought to you but no doubt they would have charged.. No kettle in a 4 star hotel? That is just unacceptable in my opinion. We tried so hard to enjoy our stay but it was just impossible for us. Sorry but we would not return.
We stayed at Vila Gale Lagos at the end of March 2018 for 3 nights. We traveled to Lagos from Lisbon by car and were happy to know the hotel offers free parking. At check in we were upgraded to a room with a sea view which was lovely from our balcony. Our hotel package included breakfast only, and the breakfast buffet had many different options to choose from. We did spend one evening at the hotel for dinner, but were not so impressed with the choices. Our room was clean, and the hotel staff members were helpful and friendly. As this hotel is a little ways from the city center, I would suggest having a car rental with you so you can explore the area and go to town for lunches and dinners. Our only "complaint" was how expensive the laundry services were. We were on a 2.5 week vacation and needed a few items cleaned and it cost us around 70 euros..... Everything else about the hotel was great! We would recommend this hotel!
