My husband and I stayed her for a week in Feb. We hadn't been to Portugal before. Firstly the positives about the hotel: - Super Cleanliness and modern design all round - Great Indoor pool spacious, comfortable areas around to relax, steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi all included and a host of other treatments available for an extra charge which I did not use so can't comment. - Outdoor pool area beautiful ( a little cold in Feb to enjoy it,this will be fab in summer) - Rooms comfortable, spacious, clean, tv with some British channels - Staff friendly and informative - Location is excellent about a 10 min walk to Old town (Nice restaurants, bars, shops) when you turn left out of the hotel and the beach is there too. It's about a 15 min walk to the right of the hotel to the New town (nightlife, karaoke, clubbing, restaurants) - Next door to fabulous patisserie called Riviera, cakes are amazing! Now for the negatives - February is quiet month and so the Hotel was under-occupied and so they offered the a la carte menu in stead of the buffet, there wasn't a great deal of choice and was fancy and ok if you like steak and fish. Our Jet 2 rep arranged to down grade us to Bed and Breakfast and we ate out instead (although eating out was expensive as our only options to eat were the places which were open at this time of year) - Breakfast was lots of fruit, bread, cold meat, cheese. The Hot options were blood red sausages (not to my taste) fried bread, beans which were tasteless in my opinion or eggs to order (fried or omelette if you wanted) We got fed up having eggs on toast so we ate out for breakfast too - The dog and Duck pub within the hotel was closed for renovations until the last night of our holiday when we bought two drinks and it was 10 euros, very expensive - There was noise if you were at the pool with them drilling and renovating the pub so we couldn't sit at the pool, although it was too cold to sunbathe in Feb. - Rooms sound proofing was terrible, we could hear everything from room to room and doesn't help when we had neighours who got up at 5am every morning! (not the hotel's fault but if sound proofing was better, this wouldn't have been an issue). - Hotel needs to invest in soft closing doors, it's impossible to close the heavy room doors quietly and so you get woken up when people are entering or leaving their rooms. -The indoor pool and spa area. The changing rooms were the toilets with about 10 lockers or so. To get to them, you need to walk out into the small waiting area, meaning you're walking out wet unless you dry off a bit before you come out into the area. The floor was constantly wet so had to take care not to fall. I feel this hadn't been thought out very well. Changing rooms should be within pool area in my opinion. Personally I feel the hotel should advertise their renovation plans and also the fact that they offer a la carte menu and not buffet when hotel is under occupied. We were then informed we didn't need to stick to the menu and that we could have asked for anything we wanted. But we weren't told this until after we'd down graded. Also,I feel I don't want to think up the meals I want, I go on holiday to have meals in front of me to choose with my eyes, I spend enough time at home thinking up meals to make and when on holiday I want a break from that. All in all, I feel this is a very good hotel for a base but it's not without minor faults. I would not return to Albufeira in February or out of season.

Nice hotel with pleasant staff and good facilities.Sauna, Hammam, Jacuzzi, Gym and indoor pool plus a nice outdoor pool. Breakfast was a good selection that should accommodate most people. Short walk, 10 minutes to the old town and Fisherman's beach.

The rooms were just standard and nothing to write home about, there wasn't even any coffee or tea in the room. When we stayed it was very cold in the evening and other people in the party could not get their heating to work. The most annoying thing was the safe in the room, they wanted €2.50 a day to use it. I don't think this is fair when people are worried about losing their passport, the hotel shouldn't make people pay for the safety of their items The pool was good and clean. The gym equipment was old and needed updating, there was plenty of room in there and so much more could be put in there to make it better. When we were there the bar was not open and we had to drink at a make shift bar around the corner. The price in the hotel was high for food and drink. Someone drank 3 bottles of the water in the mini bar and it cost them €10 when the same would have cost €1 in most of the shops surrounding. We had food one night in the restaurant in the hotel and this was the most disappointing meal of the whole trip. For starters I had the goats cheese parcel which did not have enough cheese and too much pastry, then for the main, I had steak and it was supposed to be medium rare but it was closer to well done and the chips were cold along with the veg. We had panna cotta for pudding and all I can say is there was far too much gelatine in it, need I go on?

We booked last minute and after trawling various apartments and hotels for a day or two we settled on this (after reading the reviews on here of course!). Considering we booked the week before, we got a great room overlooking the pool. Almost as soon as we got there a gentleman arrived at our door with champagne and chocolate covered cherries which was such a nice touch - it was our first trip away in 4 years so being able to relax on the balcony with these before we even unpacked was heaven! In terms of activities we'd never been to Albufeira before, we'd just decided that we wanted to relax for a week but have a bit of fun and see some sights. We enquired at the front desk and the staff were so helpful in pointing us in the right direction. We ended up going on some great trips like a boat out to the caves and off roading in a buggy (although the shops in the old town are great for getting leaflets and giving advice on things to do as well!) The food couldn't have been better, we went bed & breakfast because we knew we wanted to try different restaurants each night. The breakfast buffet was huge and included a full english and plenty of fresh fruit. There were pastries and lots of other options, and the restaurant itself is bright & airy opening up to the pool at the back. The pool area is great, there are activities in the day but no pushy reps! Our favourite experience was probably the spa, on our second day we spotted an offer for a couples massage (there are offers on almost every day so definitely ask!). Neither of us has ever been to a spa before (very busy people!) but they put us right at ease and it was the most relaxing experience of my life, I almost fell asleep. I actually tripped and fell when we were out later that night which I'm sure was down to me having spaghetti legs from being so relaxed! All in all you can't go wrong with either the hotel or Albufeira - beautiful place and friendly, welcoming people. When we visit again we won't stay anywhere else!

Everything about this hotel was perfect. Rooms extremely clean and spacious - very large balcony with beautiful sea and pool views. Beds were very comfortable, plenty of wardrobe space, towels changed every day, good Wifi connection throughout. All the staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Both pools in and out were extremely clean and plenty of sunbeds. Lovely gym, sauna, Jacuzzi, Turkish bath and free pool towels. The food was delicious, both at breakfast and dinner - very big choice of food - loved the sparkling wine for breakfast. Omlettes were cooked to order at breakfast. Lovely shellfish (large prawns, mussels, crab, smoked salmon etc.) on the salad bar as well as a big choice of hot meals and puddings. Very tasty fruit crumbles, lots of ice cream and pears in red wine, also plenty of fresh fruit. Breakfast was till 10.30 and Dinner was till 10pm which was perfect. Xmas and New Year were fantastic. The lobster was delicious, veal steak very tender and the pudding very tasty on New Years Eve. Lots of champagne, wine and liquers were included and good entertainment. The Dog and Duck in the hotel was a lovely pub too - lots of character. The hotel is situated in a very good place near shops and only 10 minutes from the beach. We will be coming here again.

Stayed here with the Travel Dept over New Year. The hotel was well situated at the top of the old town, about a 10 min walk and close to a lovely bakery shop and excellent supermarket. Another bakery shop across the road close to a KFC and MacDonalds. Lovely Chinese called The Big Shanghai was about a 20 min walk and there were other nice restaurants down in the old town. Tourist train stops outside the hotel and there is a taxi rank outside the supermarket. Hotel was clean and well maintained and all the staff were friendly, except for the man who worked in the bar the dog and duck. He just didn't want to be there and he just didn't want to serve anyone. In 7 days, we had one drink in that bar. Bought our own in the supermarket and drank in the room or on the balcony. Our deal was half board but we ate twice in the hotel and that was the evening we arrived and the New Year Dinner. On the first evening the vegetables were soggy and the meat/fish/? was bland. No authentic Portuguese food at all. Breakfast was ok, but only just ok. Bedroom was spacious, clean and well equipped with a proper hairdryer, minibar and a safe (which you had to pay 2.50 euro per day...What was all that about!!) We did have to put on the heating as the room seemed to lack any insulation against the chilly evenings at this time of year. Nice balcony with chairs and table. Would we return?.....highly unlikely as I'm sure there are better hotels for the same price.

Scoring on a scale of 1-5..... First impression 4 pleasant on the eye..Reception 3 spacious clean, staff efficient no pleasentries Room 3 clean and large good balcony..Food 1 awful poor presentation bland Restraunt 2 no staff Formica tables like being in school canteen Entertainment 1 none only one bar open with 1 bar staff 20min to get served unacceptable Situated 3 10min walk down into old town train stops outside hotel every 30min or so, shops near by supermarket near ....several guest had meeting with manager in pub (dog and duck) in hotel not sure if complaints taken on board love Portugal area good ...but not at this hotel which for the extra we paid was terrible so wouldn't return to this hotel sadly

Stayed here for xmas with my mum. Fantastic looking hotel, great rooms, good location, clean, fantastic spa area. The train stops right outside. Walking distance to the old town. Unfortunately a few things let me give this hotel a 5 star. 1) poor service in the hotel bar (Dog and duck) wait 15-20 mins for a drink as only 1 bar staff at anyone time. 2) no entertainment. On Christmas Day we had a man and his guitar play a 1 1/2 slot. This was repeated 5 days later. 3) started off decent food but after day 3 everything started to taste the same. Bland. 4) no information was given about anything happening at the hotel. When we had a meeting with the manager (he hadn't turned up for meetings previously) he stated that no entertainment was on that night but another holiday maker stated that she had been told that there was. He rang reception and they confirmed there was. Poor management. I won't be returning as I feel staff are demotivated but feel this is due to poor management. Staff do work hard but one staff member is doing the job of 5 people.

the hotel clean and good location service in bar terrible wait at least 20 mins for service bar staff not friendly except Paulo who was fantastic entertainment none apart from Christmas night. veggie meals very limited.Ist got back from 11 night's but would not return

Nice room and very clean. Buffe breakfast and dinner were very excellent with lots of variety. Friendly personnel all over the hotel. Great gym incl sauna. The pool area was nice and relaxing. This hotel offers value for money
