We've stayed at the Ria Park a number of times over the years and are always happy to return. It's not the height of luxury but doesn't pretend to be. The Ria Park is friendly and welcoming with comfortable bedrooms and amenities. Most of the staff have been there for many years so we've got to know them, in fact some of them now have their grown-up children working there! Breakfast is good and plentiful and the rooms are serviced well. The sea-view rooms are our favourites. This hotel ticks all the boxes. However best not to stay there during a conference as the atmosphere changes considerably.
We visited in August 2016, had a lovely, spacious room with a view. Very good location, close to the beach and beach restaurants, great service. Breakfast was very tasty and plentiful. Hotel overall very clean, amazing swimming pool, beautiful gardens and lots of loungers everywhere. Restaurant and room service offers great food. We will definitely get back as it was very relaxing holiday.
This was a repeat visit for us and if anything, this trip was better than the first. Very good room and facilities generally, good breakfast, great staff and close to wonderful beach. We ate dinner at the beach. We will be back.
I spent three nights here with my family to celebrate a family member's birthday. The issues started as soon as I checked in. I had booked a suite via a third party site, but when checking in the male staff claimed they had me booked for a room with a partial sea view. I showed him my printed itinerary, but he wasn't having any of it and flatly refused to give me the room, nor would he comprimise an alternative. The itinerary also stated that I had fully paid for the accommodation a few months back and nothing was due at check in. But again, they claimed it was only 90% and demanded I pay the rest. To avoid a drawn out confrontation, I agreed to pay the 10% in cash. He wouldn't accept cash! He said I would have to use the same credit card I used to pay the 90%. Luckily I had it with me, I don't normally carry cards. I asked what if I didn't have it? What would have happened then? He just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders. I had spent 20 hours traveling from the US, so I didn't want to start my vacation in a pissed off mood. I paid with the card and accepted the room. The room was nice, very spacious and had a decent view, overlooking the pool. Yes it was a partial view of the sea. Partial being the operative word! I don't see how you could get a full view of the sea, it wasn't close at all. Despite the room being nice and clean, unfortunately it was facing the open reception/foyer area and right above the bar. Needless to say the first two nights were noisy from drunk guests that went into the early hours. On the second day, I decided to have a nap in the afternoon since I was still suffering from jetlag and lack of sleep. I was woken up by noise coming from a large crowd, that sounded like they were outside my door! I went out to see about 50+ people all standing in the foyer talking and mingling. I'm guessing they were in one of the meeting rooms and had a break (pic below). I've never experienced anything like it. That was the last straw and I asked if I could move to a quieter room, even if it was only for the last night of my stay. The woman behind the front desk was much nicer and more accommodating. She moved me to a quieter room with a better view. However, the porter looked pissed at the fact that he had to move my luggage from one room to another! I was quite happy to do it myself, but the woman insisted he did it. Breakfast was lovely, a nice spread and a lot of variety. I used the gym, small but adequate. I couldn't find the spa, even though there were signs to a door that was always locked! Found out, the spa is actually in another building!! I didn't use the pool. The bar staff were OK. We had to explain our orders carefully (none of us speak Portugese), but they were accommodating. A nice hotel, however the location seemed it be in the middle of a residential area. I'm also disappointed with the front desk staff, and whoever designed the hotel, having rooms facing an open foyer/reception/bar that echoes every voice, should have their head examined!!
Disappointed this year following many visits over the years, told 2 weeks before we arrived that we had to move out to a sister hotel in Quinta do Lago for a two night period, decided that we would go direct to Quinta for the first four nights, we where told that this was as a result of Ria Park having an " Event" and all booked guests had to move out, to accommodate. We just love the Ria Park, its staff and facilities, hotel a little tired now and needs updates in the rooms Poor General Manager, who did not even take the trouble to seek us out during our return for our final 10 days to explain face to face. Hotel Quinta do Lago is excellent, but requires either a car, which we did not have, or taxis to restaurants to our regular restaurants at considerable expense The compensation for all the inconvenience unpacking, repacking and unpacking at the Ria Park...........a half bottle of port !!!! Make a note that this is very much a convention hotel and that at any time you may have to accommodate this
We spent four nights here and had a lovely stay. The hotel is very nice and extremely clean. The hotel was only at half capacity and so the bar and restaurant in the hotel was very quiet. Unfortunately there are no local bars or restaurants in walking distance and so at times you can feel a little isolated. We took Uber’s everywhere and found some nice places to eat and drink in nearby Quinta do Lago. On our first night we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. We had three courses and two bottles of wine and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were excellent too. The next morning we went to breakfast which is held in the same restaurant and we were very dissatisfied. The staff on the breakfast service were rude and the food was not to the same standard. If we were to have not eaten in the restaurant before breakfast, we would never had tried the restaurant. The pool area is nice but the pool is freezing cold which you will either like or dislike. I would have preferred it to be a little heated. The staff rarely came around the pool to service guests, yet there was a lot of staff. We would have ordered more drinks throughout the day if we did not have to walk to the bar each time. There were other issues to point out. There was no iron available in the room or the hotel at all. I had creased clothes throughout my stay which I didn’t like. They do offer a pressing service but I found this to be an unacceptable alternative as I do not expect to not have access to an iron in a 5 star resort. As I stated the resort was only at half capacity, yet the resort were unable to allow us to have a late checkout or provide us with a room to use as we had a late night flight on check out day. This hotel is pleasant but I would not return to this hotel due to the issues raised above, and due to the fact that the location is not ideal.
We stayed here as part of a works conference from the 14th - 17th September 2017. Not a lot to say other than its a fairly decent 4 star hotel but not 5. If your into golf or just want a quiet time away surrounded by not a lot, which admitably might be ideal, then this could be the place for you. The hotel is clean and tidy, the food is ok but nothing special and the pool bar staff are excellent. As for the rest its fairly mediocre. Reception are frosty depending on who you get, the rooms are hit and miss, we changed albeit after 20 minutes of wrangling, from ground floor overlooking a roof to 4th floor with pool views. A twin room pushed together. The beds were uncomfortable as I woke up with back pain each morning. Room service forgot the water with the meal and we had to wait a further 30 mins for this to be rectified by which time the food had gone cold. The safe is extra and the mini bar was empty. The pool is chilly so not ideal for small children or people with a heart condition but as said above, the bar staff are great.
Went here for four days in September the hotel is clean but in need of up dating. The location isn't great and the no real view for the rooms. We found some of the staff very hard work and didn't seem to be enjoying there jobs. We were there for four days and the bar staff didn't smile once. When we were leaving we were taking out our cases to get a taxi the and the porters didn't once ask if they could help. They gave my wife a dirty look as she struggled though the door with her case and hand luggage because she didn't shut the door after her. Our opinion on Portugal was restored once we left and spend the next seven nights of our holiday in Vilamoura.
Lovely place and staff so friendly and helpful especially Marta who was so helpful when my two sons became unwell I must point out that their sickness was nothing to do with the hotel but the staff still went out of their way to help us by letting my sons stay in their room until late evening even though we should have checked out in the morning and with no extra charge which I thought was very decent of them this was our second visit and can't wait for a third
Currently here Wont return Need a car as this hotel is remote. Nothing in walking distance in blustering heat! Views non existent Garden view room = car park or roof top! Air conditioning unit louder than a jumbo jet Hotel void of atmosphere Ridiculously expensive bar for 3* surroundings Upsides Second room we moved to is spacious even tho we were told hotel is fully booked!! Pool is wonderfully cold in this soaring heat. Shame all round as the algarve is a top destination.
