Having stayed here 4 times previously this was the most disappointing visit yet. We love the complex but be very careful when booking a "villa". We were given the keys to A06 which is seriously in need of renovation. The smell was horrendous. We have respiratory problems and could not stay here. Also there's no air conditioning in the bedrooms which was was never an issue on previous visits so we took for granted it wouldn't be an issue this time. Big mistake. We voiced our issues with reception who were not very helpful or friendly. We had spent alot of money on this holiday and were shocked at the accommodation in comparison to previous visits. We paid for an upgrade in the end. Miss Pasta is fantastic. As is the clifftop pool. We will be staying elsewhere when we return to Alvor.
Great resort with stunning outdoor gardens and pools. Access to private beach.... Nice clean rooms The shower could have better pressure. This s the only set back in my opinion, I would reccomend the resort to families with small children.
Reception staff not welcoming we had no hot water for three days. We had problem with the lock which was eventually fixed on the sixth day. In the second bedroom the lining of the mattress base was coming away see photos and we had paid so much for the accommodation. No complimentary washing up liquid, sponge or cloth in kitchen nothing was provided. Asked for a view in our request this not given to us. The father found the pool and the beach too far away for him and the lighting to the villa was poor so I had to use a flash lamp the peddle stones were uneven. We did eat at La Pasta in the complex friendly staff there and we bought fresh croissants and bread rolls in the shop every morning shop close to the villa.
We have just spent a week here. The apartments are very clean, well equipped and have pretty much everything needed. I do think the hotel staff could be more friendly and the food (breakfast and dinner) is not great. We chose to eat out. It's a great location but a taxi or bus ride away from shops and activities. The pool is absolutely freezing!! 😉
we stayed here (myself, wife and daughter) last week, we booked an apartment and upon arrival we were all very sad at the state of it. the apartment we stayed in (BLOCK 1) needs a complete renovation as was extremely grim looking, i would say that these apartments have not been upgraded or decorated in say 10 plus years. we have stayed in quite a few different apartments / complexes along the algarve region and this was by far the most disappointing. I complained to reception as soon as we arrived and was assured that someone would be contacting me about being moved but no one ever contacted me at all. there were no life guards at all around the pool and the restaurant / bar area was very quiet and lacked any atmosphere at all. the apartments window locks didnt work properly which wasnt very reassuring and towels were not changed for 4 days. The complex is a good 2-3 kilometres from Alvor so its either a brisk 25 min walk or wait outside the complex for a local bus. will be looking elsewhere next year for definate. the good point would be that there is a supermarket on site which is very good and offers fresh bread / croissants daily.
This hotel is located quite far away from Alvor and so we spent a lot of time walking to and from the centre. The rooms were clean and were kept tidy by the cleaning staff who were great. The beds however were very hard and difficult to sleep on. The pool attendant would remove our things from the sun loungers when we popped back to our apartment for lunch which was annoying and when we complained to the hotel they were dismissive and rude. The pools are well kept but are very cold. The nearby beach and coastal views are beautiful. The holiday was just underwhelming
We stayed here in the aparthotel for 10 days. Our friends had the apartment next door. We arrived early and the reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. We really couldn't fault them for our entire stay - they were friendly, chatty and helpful - ordering our taxis and booking trips and restaurants. They have a cash point and a room to leave your luggage in. Our apartment was clean and spacious with good storage. We had hangers and extra pillows and blankets. The air con was great. The kitchen had a good sized fridge, a small freezer, microwave , toaster and a coffee machine with complimentary coffee pods - much enjoyed by my husband! The only downside was that there was no oven or grill. As we had friends next door, we wanted to stay in and eat together but it was hard to cook much with only a 2 ring hob.... The beds were rock hard so if you like a softer mattress you may struggle. The maids cleaned every day and changed the towels every few days. The whole resort is spacious, clean and quiet. There is no entertainment or kids clubs. It's just very chilled. We ate at the main restaurant and Miss Pasta as well as the beach restaurant by the Atlantic pool. All were excellent with lovely staff. We didn't bother with breakfast - it was 10euro for continental. We either ate in our apartment or in Alvor. The restaurants in Alvor are so good I would always go self catering. There is a little supermarket on site for essentials and larger ones in Alvor itself. We got around by taxi with ease. There is a car hire place next door which is very handy. Facilities -wise there are 3 pools. We used the main one and the Atlantic pool. Both were clean and large. There was a slight issue with beds around the main pool as people put their towels down first thing and disappeared for the day! Not much you can do about selfish people unfortunately.... The Atlantic pool charged for sun beds but you didn't need them as the grounds are really well kept. The resort is a little outside Alvor and maybe tricky for people with mobility issues. We used taxis or walked along the boardwalk which was a lovely way to get into town. We really loved this place and look forward to returning...
When we passed through Alvor in the taxi and travelled on a few kms to this hotel I thought we were in the middle of nowhere. The hotel is clean & tidy and seemed very quiet. The staff were friendly and attentive. The rooms are bright and clean with a kitchen area and great air conditioning. Cleaners were there daily. Pool area is sufficient but so many loungers with towels on all day but no one there until late on. I think they go off to the beach then return to loungers later. The beach is a short walk away but simply amazing! With all the little coves the location turned out to be just perfect. We only bothered with Alvor 2 days as we had everything we needed at this hotel. The bar on the beach stays open to 4am with seating on the beach it's a very special place and needs to be experienced. The restaurant on the beach serves the likes of King Crab or steak in curried butter - amazing. Another onsite restaurant -Miss Pasta- is also great with very friendly staff and beautiful dishes. Booking is highly recommended for both restaurants. Can't wait to return!!
So good points first: 1. Great for families as there's lots of playgrounds and grassy areas to play on. 2. 3 large, deep pools. 3. Clean and spacious room with fridge and small kitchen facilities. 4. AC 5. Clothes hanger on patio. 6. On site small supermarket with fresh bread and newspapers. Bad points: 1. One of the pools (the Atlantic pool) is run by a private company and so you have to pay €4 per sun bed to rent for the day. I think it's good to discourage people reserving beds for the day and not using them, but they allow anybody into the pool complex and so the grass gets very busy to sit on. 2. Same point with allowing anyone in - large groups of teens at the pool diving in could be a bit intimidating to paying guests. 3. No wifi in our room. Wifi advertised online, brought laptop to do some work, wifi available in common areas but not in our room where we needed it. 4. Crappy toiletries - 2 small bars of soap and 2 tiny hair body wash gels for 2 people for 2 days. 5. No pool/beach towels available for guests. 6. No hangers in closet. 7. Health spa closed. 8. No hairdryer in room. 9. Check out at 10am is a bit earlier than most places. Location is a taxi ride away from restaurants/bars but there are onsite facilities so if you don't want to leave you don't have to. Tried to reserve the restaurant by the beach by calling and emailing and it was impossible to get an answer. They are heavily booked up and need a better system. Would recommend all in all but would have liked to be better prepared.
Stayed for a week with three children (13,11, 11) and had a wonderful time. The Atlantic Pool and adjacent cove beach were the highlights. The sun lounges at the Atlantic Pool are chargeable but there is a large grassy bank which is adequately comfortable with great views of the sea. The bar/cafe at the Atlantic Pool is very good and reasonably priced. Didn't try the other pools as they were away from the sea views. The beach can be reached via the lift and walking through an excellent beach bar which has small restaurant above (didn't try). The 2 bed villa was adequate with small kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, oven and hob. The kitchen was very light on plates, mugs and glasses - enough for 6 only for one meal. No air-con so windows open for the draught. Miss Pasta (Pizza/Pasta) was good with excellent service. The Clube has tennis courts and basketball, although our kids never tired of the Atlantic Pool and beach. The villa was cleaned often and towels changed on a regular basis. Small shop on site which contains all the necessary to make dinner/lunch. Would definitely recommend, on the basis of the cove beach and wonderful Atlantic Pool.
