Excellent hotel in great location with first class staff. I would not hesitate to recommend. Good breakfast. A historic hotel that has been sympathetically and well renovated yet maintains its beautiful origins. Well done Pousada for making our second stay here so memorable - we will return. The staff all go that extra mile to ensure your comfort.

The energy in this Pousada is wonderful!!! Probably because it originally was a convent. The staff is extremely helpful although the service at lunch and dinner is somewhat slow. The food is excellent although I ordered the steak one night and couldn't chew it. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The pool and courtyard are wonderful places to relax. Our rooms was comfortable. There is parking. The Pousada is at the center of town and all sites, restaurants, etc. are easily walkable. This town is charming and I will can't wait to return..

We stayed at this hotel two years ago and we came back this time with our adult son and stayed for 6 nights. Tavira is a lovely town and so much nicer than the busy places West of Faro.. This hotel is really nice and with a few changes I would give it 5 stars. A kettle is only available on request and they do not provide milk or coffee. We took a jug of milk from breakfast and bought some coffee. The hairdryer is in the bathroom and a very poor one. I obviously had forgotten that or I would have taken one so I bought a cheap one to use in the room. Apart from that we liked the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food good. We ate in the restaurant twice and had excellent service and good food. There is plenty of choice of restaurants on both sides of the river and the hotel is a short walk to them all. If we come back to the Algarve agin we would choose this hotel but hope they take notice of what the reviews are saying.

This is a delightful pousada in a converted convent. Beautifully appointed and a short walk to the main town along the river. There is a lovely outdoor pool and a nice centre courtyard. The rooms are a good size with all the necessary amenities. The bathroom has a bath / shower. My room on the second floor had a balcony with a view of the church and over the town. The TV has a good selection of English language stations. There is free wifi and it is extremely fast. I was with a tour group which included breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection of fresh cook and hot food including delicious mini Portuguese tarts. The scrambled eggs were also excellent as were the variety of pastries. Dinner was a bit hit and miss but of a high quality. However the highlight of staying here are the wonderful helpful and friendly staff. They are all just delightful. Highly recommended.

We treated ourselves to the Deluxe room, it was quiet and very comfortable. The pool area was great and we relaxed for a few hours there. The car park for the hotel is included in the price which was a bonus. The Hotel is situated at the top of the town with easy access a short walk to main bars The breakfast is excellent and you can sit outside in a lovely area surrounding the courtyard. All staff friendly and trying to make your stay special, which it was. We will return

Due to Monarch going bust we had to stay overnight near to Faro as we had to wait to pick our son up from the airport as our changed flight left UK a day earlier. What a find we loved the hotel. The staff couldn't have been kinder or more helpful and our room was very comfortable. It is an easy walk down hill into Tavira where we had lunch and supper. We didn't try the restaurant as the menu looked a little expensive but they did have a special 3 course menu for 2 to include a bottle of wine for €75. Breakfast was a vast buffet with everything imaginable laid out beautifully. Coffee was excellent and there was a choice of cooked eggs bacon and sausage, croissant, yoghurt, fruit, cakes and pastries etc.

There is no way I would want to put people off staying here but having stayed at the Pousada many times previously must admit to being that little bit disappointed compared to previous visits . The staff were mainly as good , efficient and professional as on other stays here but other areas were not up to scratch . The room we had was tired and certainly would have benefited from and update although the bed was comfortable. The restaurant, which used to be one of the best in Tavira , was way below the standard of old and the staff on duty when we ate there this time were 100% trying their best but rather lacking in experience and attention to detail. I genuinely hate writing negative reviews but would love to see this characterful hotel return to the standards and quality of years gone by . Would like to think that we will visit once more as we always have considered this one of our favourite hotels in Portugal .

The hotel was so clean and tidy and I cannot fault it. The staff were helpful. It is walking distance to Tavira town with lots of restaurant and shops. The airport is only 25 minutes away. Tavira is a beautifully elegant town and almost surreal in aspects. It has some of the finest churches in the Algarve. Gilão River which, runs through the town has many cafes and bars along its banks that are great places to sit and enjoy the very picturesque setting of the Roman bridge, which spans the river with low arches. Tavira itself is very picturesque, a peaceful town with everything to hand and is a perfect holiday spot and there are also lots of great places to visit if you want to venture a little further afield. It has great beaches nearby which are also worth a visit. I enjoy our holidays in this area and will be going back to the same hotel next year.

This was our final two day stop finishing our first full North to South tour of Portugal during which we discovered the Pousada chain of properties operated and managed by the Pestana Group. It is perhaps unfair to make comparisons but if I was asked to rank Portuguese Pousadas against the Spanish Paradores then I would honestly have to say that the Pousadas have it in trumps !!! Access to their Spas is free. Their rooms and facilities are more modern. Their restaurants offer a greater choice. Returning to this review - we really enjoyed our short stay. The receptionist was super helpful at check-in, even though other people were waiting. She even took us to our room before returning to serve others at the desk. We commented on this and were informed that once "the staff" are engaged with their gust then that guest gets 100% of their attention. Amazing - and thank you. We had a standard room which was excellent. Modern and well maintained. The breakfast was generous offering a good selection of both hot and cold dishes. Parking is available at the Pousada - but finding a space could prove challenging during the peak season. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely consider returning if visiting this part of Portugal in the future.

This converted monastery is within walking distance of Tavira village. This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. You wont be disappointed with the quality of any of the facilities there. There are plenty of restaurants of all grades and lovely shops to browse.
