We stayed in a top floor apartment overlooking the main pool for 5 days in September 2017 The overall look of the place as you approach the entrances to some of the apartments is not great, overlooking waste ground and felt like a very run down part of London to me. The bathroom wasn't all that good, though ours did have a bath, the shower was really quite poor and if you didn't leave the window open it became musty and damp smelling. No shower attachment so had to use a jug to rinse my hair in the bath - reminded me of being a kid back in the 70's :) Bedroon was very basic with 2 single beds very close together that couldn't really be separated. Light from outside came into the room even with curtains closed which was a pain. Apartment had an upstairs which had just storage space - a bit odd. But there really was loads of space downstairs and up for clothes, cases, etc. Kitchen was OK - if the hot water goes cold - make sure you haven't unplugged the boiler in the kitchen by mistake !!! Living room with big patio doors overlooking the main pool was lovely - once we had rearranged the furniture ....dining table and chairs set up right in front of the TV so you couldn't see the TV. Balcony was ok but could have done without the cigarette butts left in the flower pots ! As a couple - we much preferred the quieter pool to the back of the resort and the apartments there look much nicer from the outside as well (we didn't see inside them) Played table tennis (free) but a charge to play tennis (cheaper if you have your own rackets). About a 20 minute walk to the marina where there are lots of restaurants. 10 minute walk to the old town ( a new development but nice all the same), 10 minute walk to a supermarket. No WIFI in rooms (which we knew before we booked). You can pay extra to get WIFI in your room but these days WIFI is expected as a general service and this was just another thing that let the place down. WIFI in bar and reception was fine. Overall we were disappointed given the quality of other apartments we had stayed in in the Algarve during a 2 week period. It was mostly the quality of the actual apartment that disappointed us rather than the location of the complex.
We stayed in a one bed pool view apartment, right beside the smaller pool, lovely, spacious apartment. Kitchen was well laid out with everything we needed. We had our 7 month old baby and were provided with a cot and high chair. Any amount of hot water. Cleaned every day. My parents stayed in a studio pool view apartment, also very spacious for a studio. Apartments were about 15-20 minute walk from the Marina. We enjoyed the walk up and down every day but might not suit everyone. We really enjoyed our stay and would have no problem returning.
7 day stay with my family during the October half term. The apartments are all different sizes and some are more up to date then others, I guess you get what you pay for, we opted for a one bedroom apartment as their website mentions that the sofa's in the living area are also single beds ( I have read one post on this site by the management that says the mattresses are the same as the ones used on the single beds .....I think not, they seem a lot firmer so please take this into consideration when booking). I was expecting a double bed in the actual bedroom but again it was not to be we were given 2 singles pushed together with their own individual bedding. The apartment we stayed in does need a revamp it is quite out of date and tired looking, however it was clean which is the main thing and a cleaner comes in each day to make beds and wash the floor. Towels are changed every other day or every 3 days If over a Sunday and there is a hairdryer/ iron/ board etc should you need them . There is no laundry facility on the site however if you need your clothes washed you can either do it the old fashioned way or for individually priced (could be expensive) laundry service you can send clothes off to be washed but this takes two days so you need to be forward thinking. For wifi in the room we had to pay an extra 20 euro for the hire of a router which is non refundable, considering you are already paying for the facilities on site it would have been nice for this to have been included in the price as they obviously have the means to provide it and I felt it was just a simple way for them to make more money, you also have to pay 10 euro deposit each for the hire of a beach towel however you can change these if required and get your money back when these are returned. Most of the staff are really helpful and polite however the attitude of the middle aged grey haired man at the pool bar was not a hit with me and after the first visit I refused to return. It is a bit of a walk (10/15 mins tops) to the marina but one which I was happy to make every day as it was not arduous, however you do have to walk through a set of flat and past the vets and McDonalds to get there. This is a complex of apartments so expect people returning at all times of late evening/ early morning, this I could cope with what really started to grate was the noise in the morning and no potential for a lay in. our bedroom window was right next to another door/apartment and without fail either the cleaners or the occupants insisted on banging and clattering about and talking at the top of their voices which is not the nicest start to a relaxing day, there was absolutely no thought for others in the surrounding apartments. Having said all that and to try and give a balanced view The pools and grounds are lovely and all in all it was a nice place to stay but I guess you can't do much about inconsiderate individuals staying at the same time.
My boyfriend & I stayed at Pinhal Da Marina for week in October and we had an amazing time! We stayed in a pool view studio apartment and even though it was only a studio it was so spacious and had enough space between the kitchen, living area & bed that it made you feel like you wasn't just in one room! The maids always cleaned the room to a high standard and the kitchen was so well equipt that we never struggled when we decided to eat in on a couple of the nights we were there! The only thing I will say is that it would benefit from having an oven/grill, but other than that it was perfectly adequate! Also you get given two complimentary dishwasher tablets and if you require anymore they are only 50 cents at reception! The pool & garden area's of Pinhal Da Marina where well kept and clean! We used the bar once and the service was great and the Caipirinha was very strong and worth the 6 euros I spent on it ;). The one thing i will critize is the restaurant, on the first night we were there we were quite tired so chose to use the hotels take away service, we ordered calamari & fries and pizza and it wasn't very nice, but I don't think the restaurant should be just judged on that as maybe we just chose the wrong thing! In terms of location it was perfect it was 20-30 min walk to the beach and the marina and to Quarteria, some people may not like to walk so much but as me and my boyfriend enjoy walking it was perfect for us! I'd recommend walking to the beach on the right of the marina which is a little further but is much quieter and prettier than the beach to the back of the Tivoli hotel! Also the supermarkets are only a 10min walk! The staff where excellent and on our last day we were meant to check out at 11am but our transfer to the airport wasn't until 6pm and they allowed us to keep our room till then for free! I don't know if this is because it was end of season and rooms were less in demand, but it's worth asking if you find yourself in the same predicament! :) I would recommend Pinhal Da Marina to anyone really lovely quiet resort!
Jst back from a week staying at pinhal da marina, really loved it, the apartment was very spacious and had everything in it that u needed for self catering, the only thing that was a nightmare was where it was sistuated too far away from the marina, was ok walking down but the walk back up the hill in hot weather was too much for me so ended up getting taxis back which only cost 3.50 euros but we always gave them 5. This place is very relaxing and the food at the restaurant is ok not much on the menu.
A great base to stay, with lovely gardens and 2 pool areas. There are many different types of apartments and studios and all seemed of a good standard. Set in a quiet residential area, with a good 20-25 minute walk to the marina. Nearest supermarket about 15 minute stroll down to the main road. Felt very safe and would definitely return.
this was our first visit to this hotel we were very impressed with the size of the rooms and the well equipped kitchen it even has a dish washer.there is a safe provided free of charge but you will have to hire a router if you want wifi in your room however you can get a free wifi connection in reception or in the restaurant. we did not use the restaurant ( we went self catering we prefer to eat out at different places) so we cannot comment on food but the staff were very helpful and friendly. the marina and most of the restaurants are about a 15 minute walk and the beach is about 20 minutes be aware the walk back is up hill
I cannot recommend this resort enough. We stayed for 10 days and never had a problem. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, even giving us a map of the local area on arrival. We arrived at the hotel just after 1pm so we expected to maybe have to wait until check in at 5pm but we were shown to our room immediately. We paid for a pool facing studio apartment which was plenty big enough for the two of us. We had a lovely outdoor terrace with two sun loungers. We also had a clothes maiden which helped dry our clothes/towels in no time! One of the pools was literally seconds from our terrace. There was also a 'family' pool next to the restaurant. Cleaners came every day except Sunday. They made our bed, replaced the towels and emptied our bins as well as sweeping/mopping the floors. I could not fault the service at all. The apartment is approximately 15-20 minutes walk away from the Marina which hosts a large variety of bars/restaurants. There is also a Spar supermarket about 10 minutes away. The walk back is on an uphill incline so we started to get taxis back in an evening but the most we ever paid for this was 5 euros including tip. The catering facilities in the apartment were adequate with several cups, plates and bowls supplied. There is a fridge/freezer, a microwave, a small hob, a kettle and a toaster. We did not have any meals included with our accommodation so we tended to have breakfast/lunch within the apartment and eat at restaurants in the evening. My one slight complaint is the on-sight restaurant. There wasn't the biggest selection of meals and the breakfast menu was simply bread, cereals and fruit. However with all the local shops and restaurants this wasn't a problem for us and did not effect our overall experience. I would definitely recommend this resort and I intend to visit again if possible!
We stayed here last week in September. Check in was simple, the lady was very polite & showed us to our room. She gave us a little map & wrote on where the supermarkets were which was very helpful, told us about towel hire. Very pleasant. The room was great, a garden view studio which was equipped with everything you needed - pots, pans, plates, cups, kettle, microwave, cooker, fridge freezer. It was Excellent. Hair dryer, iron & board all included. Very clean, nice balcony with two chairs & a table. Beds were ok, nothing special but were not uncomfortable, maid service every day who made the bed & swept the floor, hung the towels. The pool area is lovely, we had B&B which was continental so I think if we went again we would just go for bed only as we like a cooked breakfast. The food served at lunch time around the pool was lovely & reasonably priced. The staff are very polite, helpful & welcoming. I would definitely return but like I said would be bed only as it isn’t quite a restaurant but more like a cafe- great for lunch time food though. Everywhere is clean & tidy, its a nice 15 mins walk to the marina and an uphill walk back however a taxi from the marina is only 5 euros - tip included so we walked down & got a taxi back. I would recommend this place if you don’t want anything up market - spa type facilities -it’s lovely. My only criticism is that the cleaners would leave a mop with dirty water in the bucket in the store cupboard where the safe was which started to smell. I had to put this outside the door only to see the mop back with dirty water the following day-not pleasant at all but didn’t ruin my holiday or tarnish my opinion. Go give it a try. You won’t regret it.
We have just returned from the Pinhal Da Marina Hotel, we booked half board but wished we hadn't breakfast was a continental one . Evening Meal what can i say two thirds of the menu you had to pay extra for not what i would expect of half board . The Bar in the restaurant only had one beer on tap. The Apartment was very good with everything you need, The complex is situated in a residential area at the top of a long slight hill going down is ok but coming up is quite exhausting especially carrying bag of provisions, A shop on site would be good. There are very few amenities.would we go back there again no too quiet no atmosphere to far out of Vilamoura .
