Arrived at this place with friends for a golfing holiday. First off all don't trust all the photos most of them are from a hotel up the road. We entered the room and it was a mess no beds made, bathroom a mess and there hair all over the place and no towels. We had no hot water to get showered in the morning or afternoon and only 5 mins worth at night. Indoor pool disgusting with ceiling tiles all missing and no lights and steam room was out of order and sauna turned off. Room got cleaned once in 5 days and there is no bar.
Stayed four nights in a golf trip with friends. We all found the accommodation to be perfectly adequate for our needs. Breakfast was available at the Dom Jao a few minutes away and what a wonderful buffet it is to start the day. Situated right on the beach is perhaps a big plus. It’s a €4 taxi ride to the port where there’s ample choice for food. Accommodation was clean and provided all, if not more than, expected. Great value for money as part of our package. Staff all very friendly Rooms cleaned every second day which suited us fine. Stayed in a top floor room with a double sided balcony with views towards the town and beach. I’d stay again on a golf trip. This is not a luxury property so don’t expect too much. Ideals for a group of golfers.
Plus-the seaview is great. Also the proximity to the beach. Studio was clean and housekeepers called daily which was great. Negative-absolutely not worth the money in my opinion. I expected better quality for what we paid. Better value out there to be had. Indoor pool tiles and walls look unclean. Very high rise so not great with children. Looks very unkept from the outside.
Stayed there on a 5 day golf outing. Nice room , balcony overlooking the ocean. Short walk to the sister hotel for breakfast but was well worth it, a huge quality buffet. About a 10 minute walk to the town centre where most of the restaurants were, could take longer though if one frequents some of the nearer bars on the way. Recommend the Venue bar and the Mediterranean eatery.
Overall, my stay here was very pleasant. Our room had everything we needed and the kitchen had al our desired equipment. It was very handy as it is located right beside a supermarket where we got all our food. The pool was very nice inside and I didn't use the outdoor one. This hotel/apartment block is located right on the beach and has great views. The only negative thing I have to say is that the lift can be quite scary if you don't like tight spaces, unfortunately we had to use it as our room was nearly on the top floor. I recommend you stay here
This is a great location for the beach - and this beach is magnificent if you are interested in rock formations, erosion etc. It divides up into little coves and caves and in off season you can find a whole little beach for yourself. The block has a luxury indoor pool area on ground floor with cosy relaxation area and sauna. The pool is quite hot. There is also a nice outdoor salt water pool on the edge of the beach. The studio is not large but adequate. the kitchen seems to have everything you would require to prepare the Christmas dinner. It seems room service is every second day but in our case the cleaners seem to come during lunch or siesta time so we just got towels changed etc. great sea view from balcony. Staff very helpful and cheerful. Meals were in hotel about 10 minute walk away - could be a problem for breakfast if it was raining but that only happened on our first morning. Food was excelent . Grounds of hotel were beautiful and available to us. The apartment block is not luxurious but rather on the practical side. There are several similar blocks around it maybe resembling college campus style. Good little supermarket next door. Village of Alvor is long walk away maybe half hour with not much footpath so for evening a taxi would be desirable.
The location of this hotel is great. You're directly at the beach! The staff is very friendly. The rooms are nothing special. The balcony is nice to sit and enjoy the view. A supermarket is located directly next to the restaurant. The majority of the restaurants are 10 minutes on foot.
Reasonable price. Good things: clean, tidy with daily maid, well equipped kitchen. minimarket nearby, beach nearby. Good english speaking tv channels, Car park and good wifi. Not so good: mattresses terrible feel every spring, air/con temperamental (despite asking twice for someone to make it work it still didnt) balcony fills with water from air/con unit, too far to walk to shops or restaurants, dingy reception area. Bathroom tired. Would we return probably NOT.
My partner and I stayed for four days, resulting in the stay being very enjoyable. The studio apartments themselves were small but a good size for two people. Clean and well kept, the cleaners also came in every day to make the beds and provided clean towels if needed. This was a nice touch to the stay. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly in answering our questions and helping us book things whilst staying within the resort. Some themselves were not available in this resort so the hotel next to this one called Dom Joao was available however this was not known prior to booking this trip. The beach is a short walk from the resort. The beach is amazing with bright blue sea and bright white sand! The pool allocated to us was pleasant and we spent a lot of time there due to it being quiet. We also used the inside pool most nights which again was quite, clean and a good facility. The town is a good 15 minute walk but once there, multiple restaurants and shops are available. We visited this place every night! The only down side to this stay was the self-cater part. We expected a big local supermarket in walking distance which would have been reasonably priced, however, on the resort site there is a small supermarket but containing high prices to everything. Also there was not much selection. In reasonably to this, if you choose to stay here being self-catered, get a taxi to the local supermarket and buy your food there! Other than that, we enjoyed our time in Portugal and time at the hotel.
We went for eight nights to Pestana Alvor Atlantico and found our studio apartment very small with very little balcony space. It was not worth the money we paid for it. It was probably the only down side of our stay in Alvor which was otherwise very enjoyable. The new boardwalk that has been provided since we were there last is brilliant and worth the experience. However, the addition of at least three Irish bars in the town itself is not a welcome development in my opinion.
