Be very wary when booking with the Parque Mourabel Apartments!, they "advertise" Pay at Hotel, No Prepayment required with Booking.com and certain other sites. Then they used the "Checking of validity of the card clause" in small print to pre-authorise my debit card with the full amount. Now if this is a credit card then it may not affect you to much, but if its a debit card then your account is debited the amount they request and then after cancellation it takes 6 days to be available in your account again. If they needed to check the validity of my card then they should of processed it as a small minimal amount, as they have confirmed to me pay at hotel! and no pre-payment! required, this in my opinion is very misleading just be careful!

We recently stayed here in August 2017 for 3 nights-would strongly recommend you do not stay! We were in room 61 which was something from the 1970s!! Our bedroom stunk of stale cigarettes and was infested with cockroaches. The bed was like a slab of concrete. In the twin bedroom where our girls slept was ants nests galore!! The swimming pool had a film of slime on it not to mention the apple core floating around. The breakfast was foul!! In fact couldn't bring myself to eat from it! Powdered scrambled eggs and bacon that looked like it had been for days! Thankfully our friends were staying nearby so spent all our time there! The kitchen was fousty smelling and I couldn't even bring myself to drink from a cup. Pillows were stained-DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

Just came back from a great holiday in Vilamoura, Portugal! So we stayed at the Mourabel Apartments for one week! We were a family of 5 adults travelling! A great hotel - very clean and tidy! Staff are very helpful and also willing to help you and are great at multiple languages! We stayed in the main block! The pool is fantastic very big and there are plenty of sun beds available throughout the day! People do however put their towels on the beds and don't seem to be there at all which is a little frustrating but there was only one day I could not find a sun bed so it wasn't much of a problem for me! You can sit on the grass if the beds aren't available! Most of the time there are beds available! You are not allowed to play with inflatables in the pool even if you are a child so save some money and don't bother buying any! The beach and marina are about a 30/35min walk away or if your like us 45mins when you get lost! I wouldn't advise walking the route like we did as it's too long and far in that heat! The hotel offers a free shuttle service at 9am, 11am and 4pm which is great and we used it a lot! You sometimes have to wait as a lot of guests want to use it but the hotel will carry on shuttling until everyone is sorted! They also will bring you back if you wait where u were dropped off at these times! There are not many places to eat around the hotel just the hotel bar, a small restaurant up the road called restaurante a carpe and a close by restaurant called Lago azul! They are all reasonably priced! The hotel restaurant offers a a good menu choice, pizzas are not on the menu but you can order them something we discovered after a few days! You can either have a meal of you choice from the menu or have the buffet! We always just stuck to the menu but the buffet looks fine! Lago azul is an Indian restaurant that also do pizzas and other food! The pizzas are amazing and you can tell they are freshly made and the Indian is very nice too! A carpe is ok! It's very small and has a limited menu the waiters also give you bread butter and fish paste and olives when you enter but do charge you for them on your bill so be aware! There are only a couple of bars around too! So if you want good lively nightlife on your doorstep this isn't the place for you! The restaurant does have daily entertainment in the bar til 12am but you are limited to the hotel! The marina is lovely and not as expensive as you would expect but to get there you would have to get a taxi there and back which costs about €5-7 each way which does mount up so we only went a couple of times! But we had a lovely time here! But if I was to go again I would stay closer to the Marina and the beach and save myself the hassle of the taxis and the waiting! But overall a nice place to stay it's clean and tidy and is a perfect cheap family holiday!

Stayed w/c 31/7/17, as a family of 5. After reading the previous reviews we were not expecting luxury after booking a 1 bed standard. I was so surprised with the apartment we got (89b). Very modern with air con and a massive roof terrace overlooking the pool. The cleaners tried to clean everyday but came at the time we had returned for lunch so let them off with a towel change, they were very polite and freindly. The apartment has everything you need, although the odd glass missing for the size of the family but you just make do. The hotel staff very freindly and the bar staff very freindly and entertaining. Excellent pool area and two shops very close by, one just down the road opposite. The walk to the marina very good through the open gym park, flat and easy but take it slow in the heat, at the end if the park there us a Burger King with 50c ice creams, ins entice to get the kids walking! Taxi was about 6-7 euro either way. The local tourist train is worth a go, we paid 21 euro for the 5 of us for a day pass so used it to go during the day and return at night but watch the time of the last train as it is 10 o'clock but set off early! Food is expensive around the marina but a little out and it's cheaper there are also some early bird meals at some marina restaurants. Can recommend the tall ship boat trip to the caves. All in all I wish we were still there.

We stayed in Pe do Lago last week. Lovely apartment, great pool with three canopies to dodge the intense heat. Lovely bar ran by Joseph and his lovely wife. We ate a number of evenings in the hotel dining area and the food quality and price were brilliant . Two waitresses deserve a special mention , Juliana's smile lit the room and she was so helpful with our picky eater. Made us feel so welcome. Also Francesca( not her correct name but she said it was close enough 😉) . She was also very helpful and cheerful. The hotel was located about 20 min walk from the marina . Beautiful walk and flat so anyone could do it at leisure . Looking forward to going back soon

Just got back from a great time here, all the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a superior apartment which was cleaned every day.The pool area is very nice with flowers and trees and was immaculate, there was always plenty of sunbeds for everyone.Food was basic but always plenty on the buffet style breakfast and dinner. The lunch time menu food was better and the drinks not to expensive. The walk into Vilamoura takes about 1/2 an hour and well worth it with plenty of restaurants and shops, eating around the marina is quite expensive but away from there the restaurants were reasonable. We visited the Aqua show water park which is a very good day out and did a boat trip along the coast to the caves that was good.Near the hotel about a 5 minute walk is a Spar supermarket and Parky's bar with a pool table and very good priced drinks and great staff. All in a great holiday.

Absolutely love this place. So depressed returning home. Have stayed about 5 times but this was the first with our 2 children. A lovely walk to the Marina, crazy golf and the water park all nearby, what more could you wish for. Definitely pay for an air conditioned room, it's so worth it. Don't whinge if you get a basic room with a fan if you don't upgrade to a air conditioned room.

We booked the mourabel thinking we wanted a hotel on a budget near to family. We weren't holding out much as the place was so much cheaper than its competitors. We were shown one room on the ground floor but weren't happy so spoke to reception and they happily moved us. We weren't in the main hotel but this didn't bother us as it was much quieter. The rooms had everything you would need - hairdryer, tv, microwave, kettle, toaster, oven and fridge/freezer as well as more than enough cutlery. The rooms were cleaned daily and the area was very quiet. Our only negative was the beds were very hard but thats personal choice. All staff very polite and helpful. The marina was only a 30 minute walk, there is also a free shuttle bus. But a taxi or the train was only 5 euros. All in all we had a really good stay at the Mourabel and were very impressed.

Stayed here for the first time and am very impressed with the standard of accommodation. Stayed in a one bedroomed apartment which had everything you would need for a self catering holiday. There a 2 super markets nearby although the hotel restaurant was very good an reasonably priced. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the bar was ok but the entertainment not so good. There are other bars a short distance away but a taxi into Villamora was only 6 Euros so worthwhile to go if you want a bit more nightlife.

Where do I begin? Reception. The girl behind the desk was transfixed on her pc screen when we got there. We waited. I can only think she was close to finishing a level on Candy Crush such was her concentration. She looks up, which we took for the Portuguese's equivalent of " Hello. Welcome to Parque Miserable, how can I help you?" "We are here to check in" (although the coach outside and our bags should have given her a clue). Another lady sitting at a desk gets up and tells us check in is not until 4:00pm. It is 1:30 pm, so I ask if we could leave our bags. We are then told by another man that we could come back at 2:30pm and check. He then goes outside for a fag. To cut a very very very long story, we were shown two rooms as the first was not ready and had building fences in front of the patio. We had to take this as the second room hadn't been decorated since Englebert Humperdinck was top of the pops. We go to the pool area, which is basically a lawn with a rectangle pool and old sunbeds. We see a sign saying no inflatables were allowed in the pool. Great, we've come all this way and can't relax on a Lilo. Our room had two settees. The were multipurpose.. They were uncomfortable to sit on and impossible to sleep on. I go to open our wine and the provided corkscrew disintegrates. I take it to reception the next morning and the girl there is still staring at her PC screen. I would love to know what's on it, as it is so much more fun than dealing with customers. I show her the corkscrew, as I have assumed talking in reception is not the custom. She takes it and carries on with her screen staring. I hover, then sit down. Another girl then approaches me after 10 minute's with a corkscrew. We exchange nods. Next day, we go for breakfast for the usual fayre of sausages, hash browns, fried eggs, bacon, beans, mushrooms etc. Wrong!.. Tepid baked beans, fatty bacon and scrambled egg. Yummy. We return to our council flat to get our books as these were still permitted on the big lawn. For 3 days we get the little train to the beach and marina, envious of all the other holiday makers in proper hotels. We have a nightcap at the bar. Luckily, we get to see the worlds worst Elvis impersonator. We absolutely love it. 4 days in. Very tired due to not sleeping. We go to the bar at night and deep joy, the place is full of football supporters. Some are chanting, others having trouble communicating without swearing and one totally paralytic. The bar staff seem to have no problem with the bad language or inebriation. We get back to our bunker to find that to add to the building fencing, we now have a football flag draped above our window. There was still noise coming from the rooms at 5 O'clock I the morning. This was advertised as a peaceful hotel, yet they block book football fans. I mention this to the lady at the side of reception (I guessed she was a member of staff as she had a desk). Her sympathetic reply was "Well. Its only for 3 days".... Sorry, but that is half of my holiday. The hotel obviously welcomed this bunch, who individually probably very nice, but as a group, should not be in what is classed as a hotel for a relaxing break. On the last day a chap dressed as a tennis player appeared. He was walking round the grass/pool area with a clipboard. I guess he was on the lookout for people sneaking Lilos in, so as not to upset the football fans. It was just a very odd hotel. Here are some tips. Make reception a welcoming place with professionally dressed, helpful staff. Don't do block bookings for football supporters. Let people use Lilos. Put on a decent breakfast. Update all the rooms. Get re assessed for Star rating. Ditch those bed settees and give the Elvis impersonator a nightly spot. Terrible hotel. Glad to be home.
