We stayed at the Old Village for 10 nights beginning at the end of July. As expected from looking at photos online, the Old Village is stunning and very very well maintained. We had to wait 1.5 hours for our room on arrival which wasn't surprising as we did arrive in the morning, we just had a drink at one of the restaurants on site. Unfortunately, when we did get into our room I am dismayed to say that we were really disappointed actually. Having done a lot of research on the site in the months leading up to our holiday, I was fully expecting our ground floor studio to have a terrace with a table and chairs and 2 sun loungers as stated on the website. When we arrived at apartment 26A Church Street, we discovered we had nothing but a table and 2 chairs on a walkway under some stairs - no terrace, no sun loungers and no beautiful view. The apartment itself was ok, although the toilet seat was broken but it was clean enough, wardrobe space was poor - not a lot of drawer space so everything needed to be hung up but not enough hangers to do so... needless to say I needed a little time to get used to where I would be spending the next 10 nights after building it up in my head for months. Anyway, the pools are lovely - but be warned, in high season, you will need to start queuing outside the gates of the pool side areas around 08:20 before they open at 9. Sun beds are gone in the snap of the fingers so you will need to be quick! Also, it's 3 euros to use a sun bed for the day which can get pricey if there are a few of you! Restaurants on site are lovely, we had no issues there, there were a couple of weddings on during our stay but these didn't hinder us at all like it would if you were staying in a hotel. Prices are what you'd expect for the location, anyone that moans about prices should look at visiting a cheaper holiday destination - this is Vilamoura - not Benidorm. The walk to the marina is not 15 minutes - it's more like 25. We queued at the taxi rank for 30 mins one night for the driver to tut and sigh loudly when we asked him to drop us at the Old Village as it's not very profitable for the taxi drivers. The marina is beautiful, I can highly recommend Figos Bar for a sparking wine sangria. In the end we found out that we could pre book taxis from the little shuttle hut on site - we also used this service to have a mooch around Quarteira and Albufeira Old Town (which I would HIGHLY recommend) The supermarket on site is very well stocked, however the ladies who work there are really rude and with only one til, it gets really really busy at breakfast and lunch time so bear this in mind. TIP - the restaurant Rendevouz has a BEAUTIFUL roof top terrace for cocktails with a fantastic view of the Old Village and surrounding areas, so that's certainly worth a visit. All in all, we did love it here, once we left our apartment! We would return on the premise of a nicer apartment and probably at a quieter time of year so we don't have to set our alarm clocks to get a sun bed!

After reading some of the reviews I was a little worried about what to expect. However, upon opening the door to our apartment we were delighted to arrive in a pristine brand new interior and not only did we have a balcony but also sun terrace. We loved the complex, our son didn't want to leave the pool during the day but I appreciate that it may get a bit crazy in high season. We also saw reviews over the overpriced eateries and supermarket. To be honest we ate at the marina every night due to our 4 year old's insistence but the prices at the complex didn't look much different than down there. We also found the supermarket no different to the the large Spa down in town so we never felt ripped off. We'd love to go back and will book again soon.

Simply one of the best places to stay in Vilamoura, if you're looking for an apartment instead of a hotel room. Beautifully surrounded by gardens all around, the complex has 3 pools, restaurants, bars and a small grocery store. Almost (if not all) of the apartments have either a garden or a terrace where you can relax or even barbecue. It's located within a reasonable walking distance from the city centre (roughly 10-15 min) and the beach (roughly 20 min). The only bad experiences were not having one of the available towels very clean and at the reception desk charging 2,50 € for simply printing one boarding pass...

Visited for a long weekend for a 70th birthday celebration and was not disappointed. The apartments are of a very high standard. We booked 3 two bedroomed apartments as there was 12 of us in total. The only down side was that we didn't receive any clean towels or cleaning but as it was only 3 nights that wasn't too much trouble. Also only air con in the lounge not the bedrooms. The restaurants on site was lovely and reasonably priced and they went out of their way to make it special. Used the train that runs regularly to go to the marina but it was cheaper to get a taxi. The marina is beautiful with plenty of high class restaurants to choose from in addition to lovely bars. Will definitely visit again.

Our apartment was very very disappointing. When we entered the property the first thing that we noticed was the smell, old and damp. The decor was very dark so the rooms weren't welcoming at all. The throws on the sofas were dirty so we weren't able to sit in the lounge area at all. The curtains didn't even fit the windows so we couldn't close them for any privacy. Upon entering the bedrooms again there was the same smell, the bed covers were dirty and the curtains were so old an stained that we didn't want to touch them. We had to wait until the morning to speak to anyone regarding our apartment but it was a waste of time. The lady in charge just kept saying that there was nothing that she could do apart from send the cleaners in again!!!! It ruined the holiday and we just couldn't settle and enjoy it.

DO NOT BOOK WITH OV INTERNATIONAL!!! we booked a room with air conditioning because we have got 2 young babies with us! when we arrive we have 2 fans in the room!!! the women on the desk did not want to know and was seriously rude saying " not my fault" "not our fault" they woulsnt do anything to help us even though they admitted when had booked air conditioning. The villiage is very nice, just unfortunatly ov international are miss selling their apartments! not onky that they are extreamly rude!!

My mum, sister, niece and I have just returned from a long weekend at the old village. We arrived after midnight and were a bit confused about check in/key collection as it isnt very well explained, however it was fairly straightforward when we asked another couple for help! Youll be dropped of just outside the supermarket which has 2 bars next to it, go into the second bar (O cafe) and they will get security to come with your keys - you check in the following day :) The village itself is very picturesque, the gardens are beautiful! We stayed at 4BC village street in a 3 bed apartment, the apartment itself wasn't what you'd describe as modern but was clean and 'quirky' we all loved it! We had 3 bedrooms(one ensuite) bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 large balconies and a roof terrace with sunbed and barbeque! Kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need. There was 2 tv's, aircon in every room and free wìfi - amazing considering what we paid for this accommodation. Only downside were that beds were a little hard, but fine for a short stay There are bars and restaurants around the village and also the voila bakery which is a must! Donuts to die for! Pools are good, main pool and dolphin pool are busy with families, pool next to princess gardens was small and quiet - we had no problem getting sunbeds at any of them. Marina is about 15 min walk away, taxi costs about 4 euros and they call one for u at O cafe. Mini train stop is just outside too. Marina is fantastic, loads of good restaurants and bars, Was third trip to vilamoura but first to the old village, will definitely return xx

For our first ever trip to Portugal we choose The Old Village at Vilamoura. The complex was very clean and tidy with beautifully maintained gardens. There are 3 pools and a number of restaurants most of which have a happy hour (often up to 3 hours) and offer good food. The swimming pools are clean, tidy and each with a pool bar. Worth noting that it costs €1.50 for a half day hire of the sun loungers, €3 for the full day. This mounts up over the course of a 2 week holiday. Would certainly recommend the Old Village.

Spent the first week of July in a two bedroom apartment in this splendid development. Excellent facilities. The apartment was spacious and spotless. All modern appliances, including washing machine. Large lounge, two bathrooms, good sized bedrooms roof terrace with loungers, table and chairs, clothes horse complete with pegs. Great facilities on site, supermarket, bakery 5 or 6 restaurants and 3 swimming pools. Tourist train bus stop just outside the complex, ideal for travelling to the Marina. Some very good restaurants on the Marina, especially "The Haven". .My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Booked to stay at old village , didn't really know what to expect ,well when I arrived it was absolutely fantastic , it resembles an old typical village ( but new) Little bars and restaurants dotted all around , different standard restaurants to suit all tastes and wallets , three pools of different sizes ( sun beds 1.5 euro ) per half day , pool bars that also sell food , a small super market fairly priced that did enough for home diners , and great fresh rolls & pastries/doughnuts,there is also a concierge service for trips and transport who could not do enough for you , I will definitely be returning again, fabulous place only 10 minute walk to the marina & beach , marina is a must visit which is stunning , Golf courses excellent played Val do lobo was good , Vilasol also good but my favourite was Pinhal which weaved through the old village , greens to die for , and a little note juniors played for free a pinhal , what a touch , Grant
