Quite possibly the rudest reception staff we have ever encountered. A room which was not what we had booked, which they informed us was the only one they had, but then other people checked in after us. We were placed in a room above the noisiest bar in the immediate area, which belted out karaoke until 4.30am and was so loud the floor vibrated and the speakers may have well have been in the bedroom with us. According to staff it's an ongoing problem with daily complaints. We had zero sleep on our only break this year as a couple- when we complained to reception we were treated appallingly. The staff member on duty raised his voice and spoke to us in a disgusting manner. We asked to be moved on several occasions with staff members denying that we had. The all inclusive is a joke! You have to walk to the sister hotel next door for meals and despite having a pool bar at our hotel- you could not get a drink by the poolside unless you paid extra, not even water, You had to get dressed and walk over to the sister hotel and into the restaurant bar for refreshments. We have contacted the hotel to give them an opportunity to put right the issues we experienced and they have completely ignored all correspondence from both us and our booking agent. Unless you are a party animal/stag/hen party who isn't bothered about sleeping, avoid this hotel!! We have never stayed anywhere so stressful.

We stayed at this hotel as an exchange of time sharing. We had a unit with a bedroom, living room and ding are with a joined kitchen. Unit was very comfortable, well equipped and well positioned, central but away from the noise. Down stairs was a supermarket which was very convenient. Only down side was the weak air conditioning. Staff was very friendly and service oriented. Excellent English.

Don't even know where to start, myself, partner and 7 month old son didn't last 24 hours in this hotel before having to pay and stay elsewhere. Air con is inexistent, it pumps out humid air so reception tries telling you it works because there is in fact air coming out, although it isn't cool. The rooms are so small, the phrase 'quantity rather than quality' comes to mind. Requested on booking the hotel for a cot to be in the room, was told by reception that if one wasnt in there, I'd have to pay €10 a day although id asked prior and paid for a family room. Pool was filthy, floating plasters in it and tin foil balls in the baby pool, restaurant staff so distant and rude, 25 mins to bring over drinks when the restaurant was empty. Stale bread etc completely outdated and stuck in 90's desperate need of redecorating. After complaining 3x re air con, the 'couldn't be bothered' receptionist rang an emergency maintanence man, he wasn't able to come for another 2 hours (it was 6pm at this point) was told all the air con runs off one unit and they're all fine. With that, we told him to stick it and checked out and the receptionist couldnt care less. £340 for ⁴ nights room only - ended up moving to the lovely Areias Village (highly recommend***) other side of th new town and v quiet for same price. STAY AWAY

I had read reviews on this hotel and thought I would try it my self, we went self catering and found our room had everything you could ask for, even washing up liquid pot towels shower and hair gel, it's not a 4 star as it says but a excellent 3 star. Our studio apartment was cleaned every other day and clean towels. We booked a side sea view room and requested a high floor quite room but was given a pool view ground floor, as it was gone 1am when we arrived the reception said to return at 10am to request a different room but found the room seemed quite enough as it was a Saturday night so decided to stay in that room, yes it did get noisy by the end of the week when a group of lads arrived but this didn't spoil our holiday, we would return to this hotel but probably early or late season

We (my partner and 7 month old baby) arrived today looking to add a few relaxing days to our lovely week we have already had in Albufeira in a villa with our family. Well upon arrival that's when I should of noticed the panic alarms the reception was beyond hot with what felt like no air conditioning at all. We was quickly shown to our room in a hot and sweaty rush when we opened the door I immediately went to turn the air con on and noticed how very weak it felt. I left it an hour before we went out and it had hardly cooled my partner then suggested leaving it on as we went out for a couple of hours, on our return it was no better so we sought the help from reception who said to my partner "you've only been here a few hours just leave it". Well We are now on a makeshift bed in the kitchen as the bedroom is unbearably hot! On the verge of a sleepless first night in what feels like an oven, my poor baby is sweating profusely as its so hot. in the morning I am demanding a different room with working air con or a refund, not the haste I need!

We have stayed at this hotel and it's sister Clube Praia many times over the years and never been disappointed. Our twin room this time had a separate lounge area down a few steps and great wee recently refurbished kitchen. Washing-up liquid and sponge always provided and a shampoo/shower gel in canisters on the wall. If anything, the only disappointment was that the room was on the first floor overlooking the outdoor restaurant seating area, so we felt a little on show if we had the curtain's open. We were rarely in the room long enough (during daylight!) for this to be bother, however. Staff are always lovely and helpful. We had some issues with the transfer from the airport and the gentleman on the desk called the company for us and was willing to fight our corner if English wasn't spoken on the other end. All public entrances to the pool area and hotel (other than the main reception) are room key access only which is brilliant and reassuring security. Great location for whatever you wish, and close enough to the strip if that's your thing, and far enough way if it isn't. There's almost literally a sudden end to the party bars, thankfully! We'll be back.

Went here for a week in May Clean and friendly staff Noisy hotel at night, can hear doors and loud holiday goers Pool clean Fully equipped kitchen Nice bar and breakfast for really nice in the sister hotel Seems to be attracting more youngsters

We love the location of this hotel. the rooms have lots of space and well equiped, although needs updating. Its good to see the pool bar/resturant opened again. The food is now first class and staff so friendly. Downside - hens and stag parties can get a bit rowdy so hope there will be less of them in September. Looking forward to our next visit.

My final night here, so a quick review. On Entering the Oura Praia the Reception area was immaculate, staff was professional and willing to check you in fast which was so nice after being awake half the night. Was shown to my room 202 which was around the corner from Reception. I stayed Self catering so the kitchenette with fridge and freezer and cooking utensils. Air Conditioner in the room works kinda strange, during the day the room nice and cool at night found even on Max it wasn't giving much coolness, might just be me, I didn't complain about it cause it was a minor issue. Safety deposit box I think I paid 3 euros a day. The room also comes with a iron and ironing board. I did have one major complaint when there and that was a rude out of control hen party one weekend. Phoned reception and they was dealing with it via security from another nearby hotel. I have no problem with Hen and Stag parties but to get that wasted and becoming a nuisance to others who want a quiet holiday, swearing, banging doors like kids all weekend was abit too much! Reception staff So polite and well mannered, nothing is too much trouble. Maid service is every other day, the maids along that corridor was so cheerful and helpful, lovely ladies who work very hard. My Stay overall was very pleasant. Highly recommend. Pools are immaculate.

I have been using this hotel every year since 2000, I have a fixed week here as it is primarily a timeshare resort. My week is early May . The reception staff are excellent , I have use of a roomy one bedroom apartment. The kitchen features a fridge with ice box, microwave, hob with 2 "rings", toaster and kettle, so fairly basic . There is a TV and DVD player, and a decent sized balcony . At ground level, there is a gym (I have never used it ) and a swimming pool with lots of sunbeds (Also never used by me as I prefer the beach ) ! There is also a bar and restaurant. The restaurant is currently being renovated and I think it is "out of action" at the moment. No problem as there are lots of cafes/bars etc nearby. part of the OPH building is a supermarket , so there are no problems whatsoever with your self catering supplies. The OPH is run by MGM hotels, as are Clube Praia da Oura , Oura View Beach Club , and Forte Da Oura . I use the MGM travel shop to book my transfers from/to Faro Airport, usually 20 Euros per person . MGM currently use Best4U Transfers ,who over the last 2 years I have found to be excellent . Remember to check with the hotel reception on the day prior to departure, to check the pick up time. To be honest, the apartment I use needs a little refresh in the decor department, but I'm not too concerned. This year I had an infestation of tiny ants in the kitchen area. I reported this to reception and within 40 mins one of the domestic staff appeared with a spray can of "Raid" and "dealt with" them, and returned after an hour to recheck and clean up. About 3 years ago there was a problem with the toilet flush mechanism, this was also sorted by a maintenance chap within 40 mins. So overall, I would suggest that for self catering this place is good, although not as "flash" as some places it is very likeable . If you stay here, and wish to go to the beach, it is worth paying a 5 Euro deposit for a key-card. This enables you to go thru the grounds of Clube Praia da Oura to gain the most rapid access down to the beach .
