returned today 10/3/18 ,the only holiday i wanted to come home from.weather was awful but in fairness cannot blame hotel for that.except that when bad weather they have no plan b.cant even watch tv as only one english channel and that was an american stocks & shares business channel.first cock up was after booking in and made the long trek to our apartment we opened the door to find it occupied,so had to drag our luggage back up the hill to reception to rectify, only at this point were we told about a short cut through the main building..plus point our apartment was clean and presentable .but freezing cold in the bedroom as only one small heater/ac unit in living room.we managed to get another heater after 4 days.no kettle provided for this you have to pay a 20 euro returnable deposit.agree with others entertainment was awful.the area is very hilly so your legs get exercised the beach we felt was very dirty lots of broken sunbeds and other debris left around.someone mentioned you can use another hotel next door but i cannot clarify this.food noot good as others have said, but one thing i can recommend is the small restuarant right outside the hotel i can honestly say i had the best steak i have ever had .so maybe the weather has put a big downer on this holiday.but there is still room for big improvements at monica isobel
Having just arrived back from staying here, never have I been so happy to be back home from a holiday. I read previous reviews about the long walks from rooms , and called both Jet2 and the hotel directly to ask for a room inside the main hotel building as was travelling with a one and three year old, yet was still placed quite far away with lots of steps to get to our apartment. The staff were all really friendly but the food was awful with several people coming down with sickness and diahrea during our stay . Most of these included young children being sick . I would never visit here again nor would I recommend it . A few people even paid to come home early as it was that bad. The inside pool was very small with no changing facilities available . Please do not book this hotel no matter how cheap the price . It's really not worth it .
So let me start by saying that the weather didn’t help this holiday get off to a good start (beast from the east hangover), however we were determined to make the most of this, our 1st family holiday. We were staying in the 3* rated tourist apartments. We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 infant and 1 baby) and upon arrival in the hotel reception we asked for a room that did not involve any stairs due to us having a double buggy for the children, we were completely ignored and put in a room which included 2 flights of stairs. The food leaves alot to be desired there is not alot of variety and is either over-cooked or under-cooked (causing illness throughout the resort). There are not many restaurants within walking distance for those with pushchairs, however if your prepared to pay you can get taxi’ to and from ‘The Strip’. The rooms (resort in general) are of a poor quality even for a 3* the while resort needs a revamp and alot of the equipment needs an upgrade the rooms either have air con/ heating in the bedroom or living room not both. The general hygiene is of a poor standard, mold on balcony doors as an example. This resort boasts a good kids club on all sites it is advertised however this is not the case at all, there have been no child friendly activities made available to us during our stay and upon speaking with other people with children they also have not been offered child friendly activities. All in all this has to be the worst holiday I have been on and yes you might say this is only your 1st family holiday but this is far from my 1st rodeo.
Just returned from an 11 day stay at this resort and hotel and it rained every day torrentail very windy and very cold. We found the hotel OK the food w3as acceptable something for everyone, hotel very clean. Our only complaint is there was nowhere to relax anywhere, the reception area was very cold and very damp, the bar area was the same very cold and very damp fortunately we stayed in the main building but we still got very wet walking to the bar. We would go again but in the Summer but think it would be overcrowded then also the Spanish who descend in this hotel are very rude and very noisy, Nice holiday spoiled by the weather but moreso by the hotel not being equipped for cold wet weather
We booked this as a cheap 3* getaway (outside peak season) with some friends but this is not the 3* it claims to be. We were staying in one of the apartments which is a bit of a trek from the main hotel but this was not a major problem for us. However, the apartments were badly in need of refreshing with a general feeling of neglect in the place, although the cleaners were good at keeping it clean. The food was very basic/ limited with the vast majority appearing to be tinned/ processed foods. The bar seemed to cope OK with the numbers of people there but I suspect this would be different in peak season. The entertainment was poor and there seemed to be a decision to just play the music at full blast so even if you didn't want to watch the entertainment it was far too loud to have a conversation. The weather was awful when we were there (obviously not hotels fault) so didn't get much chance to use their outdoor facilities but what we could see during a walk round the site also seemed to be run down and there was nothing inside to keep people busy in bad weather. The location is right on the beach so it is great if you like spending time there. It was around a 20min walk into the main town but it was quite steep hills so may be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. They did run a shuttle bus into town but this was not reliable so we found it was quicker to walk. Having stayed in 3* all inclusive multiple times in past this is nowhere near the standard of other hotels and would say this is a 2* hotel. If you are aiming for 2* then the hotel is fine, just don't expect anything above that.
Lovely location but the whole complex needs a big revamp. Lots of steep climbs so not the place for anyone with poor mobility. I would advise against all inclusive if you’re thinking of food here as the quality and choice was very poor. I can’t imagine how they cope in a busy time of year with the size of the restaurant area. Lots of places to eat within walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful. Entertainment was a joke especially in the evening with the kids club starting at 9pm then other ‘acts’ afterwards. If the weather is poor as it was during our stay nothing much to do in the resort. The indoor pool is a joke and the steam room/sauna is just a shed in the corner of a room with a few exercise machines nearby. All inclusive drinks are slightly restricted with alternatives to main brands. Lots of unhappy faces around from others day in day out. If the weather is good then the beach location just yards from most rooms must pull in a lot of guests other than that not much to draw anyone to this hotel/resort. Would recommend the location but not the place to stay if you’re looking for good entertainment to occupy younger guests. Parrot show was only interested in getting people to have their pictures taken to earn more rather than the show itself. Bingo the staff didn’t even check cards when someone called they won so just shout out whenever you want. Tina Turner tribute was the funniest evenings entertainment but other things got cancelled at short notice without offering much in exchange.
We have just arrived back from our 7 day holiday in Monica Isabel beach club (3 adults, 1 infant and 1 baby). The only thing this hotel has in the positive is it's restaurant staff and all inclusive bar staff. Its a shame the food that they are made to serve is shocking. I'm not normally a person to complain, especially about food (as long as there's something to eat, why complain) .. but the fact that both of my babies have had severe vomiting and my partner has had 4 out of 7 days in bed I feel that you need a heads up before you book this place for anything more than self catering. This isn't just our view either, as several other holiday makers were in the same situation with either diaherra or sickness. Other than this, the rooms are cleaned daily and are cleaned thoroughly. So thoroughly that it would take just under an hour to complete. Where as requesting extra or replacement bedding is an issue.. even if your poor little one has vomited all over the bed. I understand you get what you pay for, but I refuse to pay for poor quality food which ruins a 7 day family break. I am truly upset with our holiday. I have been on several "last minute deal holidays" and have never stayed I a place like this. If your willing to pay for all inclusive and then eat out everyday then this hotel will be fine.
Went here for 5 days for a family holiday. Hotel was okay but we were quite a long walk away from the bar and restaurant which he had to walk along a few roads full of pot holes and up and down hills. The room was very cold and smelt of damp and stale smoke. Bar staff could be rude at times but most were pleasant. Food was lovely with a nice variety. Old town was a great place and the tuk tuks were a fab way to travel to them. Beach was great. Overall a nice holiday
We managed to get a very very cheap deal for my family all inclusive £600 for a week for 3 of us so for this money we certainly wasn’t expecting 4 star. On arrival we got there late and was given a pack lunch which I thought was a very nice touch. Our room was 601B very big one bedroom apartment plenty of space but very dated and basic but was very clean and cleaner came everyday. One problem with the room was we had a lot of rain so the roof leaked so be careful of that. Hotel grounds are kept tidy and clean the food is okay always something to eat fresh fruit and salad everyday and toastie maker in the morning is a life saver.you certainly won’t go hungry. The outside pool has a pool bar which serves snacks of crisps hot dogs sandwiches ice cream ( you have to ask for a burger or toastie to be made behind the counter ) The restaurant staff are outstanding and worked so hard morning noon and night. Very attentive. The location of this hotel is absolutely amazing beautiful walk along the beach to the old town and also can walk to the new strip just a 15 minute walk the opposite way. I was pleasantly surprised that even out of season they had in house entertainment every night which was good although we have a young son and the children’s mini disco starts at 9pm which is so late this really needs to be changed as all the children was in bed by this time and ended up being my son one of The only children up waiting to have Dance. 😂 The biggest downside to the hotel is the indoor pool it could be so lovely down there and we spent a lot of time in there as we diddnt have much choice as it rained the whole week but it sure does need some TLC the floor is disgusting just pure concrete and very uneven surface the floor is also always soaking wet and but the pool was warm which was a plus. All in all we had a good stay and met some lovely people in this hotel ( all English of course as there was along of RUDE Spanish que jumping ) Would return if we got another cheap deal!
My family stayed here last year and the apartment waS filthy! The toilet hadn't been cleaned, yuk and the bedding was patched. The veranda was full of cigarette buts, and the cleaners never came once in the week!! I love albufeira but apartments like this gives it a bad name!
