Stayed at hotel Monica for one week. Great location in the middle of old and new town 10 mins either way. We had annex room which was ok , cleaned every day. Close to the beach ,but have to pay for sun beds. Restaurant was not very good, breakfast was awful no plates no cups ran out of food waiting about for more to come out, and the toaster what a pain had to put it in four times to get it brown. Dinner round the pool was the best tuna buns lovely. Tea was not good not much choice, so we ate out most nights. Bars well pool bar was great very fast service, bar outside reception was a nightmare, queues a mile long and only two drinks at a time. Don't know what it must of been like in July and August. Entertainment was rubbish. Loved Portugal would definitely return just not to this hotel .
myself and my wife spent 10 days all inclusive here in September, stayed in a studio apartment with partial sea view, great variety of food in restaurant, buffet style, great dishes, staff in restaurant were very helpful as were the staff all over the complex. the rooms are pretty basic but to be honest you only really sleep and rest in your room most of the time. so in summary , a very enjoyable stay over the 10 days, marks out of 10 ? I would have to give 7 out of 10 , now I would of scored a higher mark except there were a few minor issues that need to be addressed, the complex I believe has maybe 3 bars ?? only 1 of which seemed to be open, therefore normally when it got busy in the evening there were long queues waiting to be served, not a major issue but it didn't make much sense to have only 1 open. second issue was a noise problem, cleaners tended to have long and very loud conversations in the middle of the afternoon, put together with an extremely noisy family of 4 who were put in the apartment next to us and no matter what time of day it was? they made an extreme amount of noise, shouting non stop, maybe it was quieter in other apartment blocks ? but I think this is mainly a place for families rather than couples ?? nice 10 days spent here, but it is not a place I would stay again.
Spent a week 2/09/17 here with my mum, son aged 17 and my friend and her two teenaged daughters. The hotel is in a good location right on the beach. We stopped in apartments which catered for 3 people. The apartment was cleaned everyday and nothing was too much for the staff to cater for(requested extra pillows and arrived within 15 minutes). My friend's apartment was too far away from ours and the reception changed it the next day for them. The staff were very friendly and provided good advice about the area. There was only 1 bar open which meant you had to que for drinks (assume because the season was coming to a close) The food was very good, there was somthing for everyone. Restaurant is in main building, which could be a trek depending where your apartment is (as spread out over complex.4 There is a 5 min walk to the beach with either a small gradient down or a small gradient up.you could also access via the main hotel with a little walk. You have to pay 6 euros to hire the sun loungers daily which can mount up. We felt that these should have been free as part of the hotel. You also had to pay at the beach bar as not included. Which again should have been included. The swimming pool was great for us all as didn't have to pay for anything, they also provide little tubs of ice cream daily(which went down well) They also provide hot dogs salad and sandwiches which the can also do as toasties. The hotel was in easy access for all the amenities, and the hotel provide a daily shuttle to the town through out the day. The teenagers enjoyed clubbing it a couple of nights. Overall the apartment we thought was only lacking a couple sun loungers as they had big verandas, and another bar being opened to prevent ques. Everyone had a good time before Uni and college. Will go again Thanks for all your hard work staff xx lk to
Firstly the resort of Albufira...it is a wonderful place lovely beaches with golden sands and blue sea...both the old town and the strip have an abundance of shops and bars that cater for everyone..its a place we will visit again The hotel Monica Isabel complex is situated 2 minutes from the beach the hotel is in two parts the main hotel building which is classed as 4 star (never in it's wildest dreams is it 4 star) then there is annex blocks which seem to be for jet 2 guests and is 3 star The hotel is dated and a bit tatty at the edges our block was being painted while we were there If you are elderly or disabled it's not the best place situated on a steep hill there lots of uneven cobbled areas and high kerbs Our block also has a cockroach infestation which the hotel know about but failed to deal with.. The room was cleaned every day towels changed everyday and bedding changed twice a week The room was small with a kitchenette but if you just want somewhere to rest your head it's fine The food there is not the best especially the breakfast hot dog sausages or chorizo for breakfast isn't acceptable the bacon was always cremated boiled eggs were dryer than a nuns crutch, scrambled eggs were watery most people went out for breakfast. Lunch and dinner were fine not the biggest selection but we didn't starve... One of the two lifts to the dining room has been out of order for the last 6 days and the other one is decidedly dodgey stopping and starting as it pleases. The pool area was nice plenty of sun beds and activities like aqua aerobics volleyball and water polo There is a snack bar where you can get drinks and sandwiches there. The evening entertainment was rubbish usual crap ..parrot show, dancers and amateur singers. It said there was a kids disco every night but we only saw it once and it only lasted 10 mins there's very little entertainment for children The bar area was very busy after dinner and there was only 1 small bar which lead to massive queues for drinks...The staff were always polite and helpful Would we come to Albufira again Yes Would we come to the Monica Isabel again Definatly not.....
Just wanted to say how nice the entertainment guy was. He got my whole family involved, young and old. Thanks Arter. All the other staff were also friendly and polite. The hotel is slightly dated but clean and well looked after.
we paid for all inclusive u dont get all inclusive, u have to pay for sunbeds on the beach and u have to pay for snacks and drinks at there beach bar, but by the pool its ok.on our last day had to leave room for 12.00 which is ok but we did not get picked up till 16.25 and when u hand in your key they cut off your band. this is not all inclusive, stayed in many all inclusive hotels and they dont cut off your band till u get onto your coach.i think this needs looking at for furture bookings.
Read reviews to see what the place was about I was 50/50. So we arrrived and couldn't get into the room before 3 so you may have to wait around . We were in m block (out the way nice and quiet)👍which was a walk down a steepish hill or take the lift. The pool is situated by the beach which is a stone throw away you can put yr towels down at 9am and leave them , here you can have stacks sandwiches fruit burgers crisps and tuna rolls instead of going Bk up to the building for lunch. Monica is situated right in the middle of the old and new town , only a 15 min walk there are road buggies you can catch for around 10/15 euros. We didn't hang around for entertainment at night really just stayed for 1 night which was the reptile show which was great . Oh and the white sangria is fab 👍
Fabulous views Ok apartment bit basic but clean. Stayed in block A, lots and lots of steps Food not bad the usual fare. All inclusive rolla cola local spirits. Cocktails bottled cheap stuff. Hilly area two bars outside of hotel. Shuttle to old town lots of shops. Bars are to the right of banks restaurant. Pools hidden and not that easy to find but nice.
Went to Portugal in June 2017 with my parents and sisters. And had a great time! The reviews here infuriate me almost as much as the busy bodies sat around enjoying their free drinks on the lovely terrace doing nothing but complaining and ganging up with other complainers. Moaning about wifi? Get off your phones you're on holiday-otherwise sit in the lobby and use it, it works perfectly. The pool is less than a very pleasant 500m walk away. Is it a heart attack every time you cant get parked right out front at Asda? Unless you are elderly/disabled this is not an issue. There is plenty fresh wonderful sea food and salad selection, and they do have have burgers, pasta, pizza etc also. The problem here is not the hotel but society-so what if you have to walk 500m to the pool, its a pleasant stroll and the weather is beautiful! Accomodation-the rooms are exceptionally spacious and clean. Yes it could do with a lick of paint, and maybe renew the curtains-the colours are still quite dated but are you really on vacation to lay around your room and look at the walls?? If you want 5 star, pay for 5 star, although you'll still probably find something to gripe at. If you want little Britain abroad- go to your Benidorm. There is something wrong when you are offered everything to experience a wonderful country and culture yet so wrapped up and stuck in your own that all you see around you is comparisons and negatives. Get off your phones, enjoy the great food and wine this hotel has to offer, get out and experience the actual town and country by shuttle that the hotel offer complimentary, lay your head down on the big comfy beds at the end of your day and maybe your perspective will be a little different. We cant be a nation of lazy entitled junk food eaters and expect the rest of the world to accomodate us-and I say thankfully!
The weather was amazing, the hotel was disappointing, the room was shabby, but it was the staff that were rude and unhelpful, the only nice person was the young man at the pool. The food was quite poor and not enough seating in the restaurant, it was on the top floor and we never went at lunch time because of this ,
