This hotel was amazing! The pool was a little too cold to go in as it was April but I went in the inside pool, I got stuck in a lift but that was the only let down, the food was great the room was clean and the location was perfect, right on the beach, 10 minutes away from the old and new town! Can't wait to go again next year!!

I stay at Monica Isabel for a week from July 13th with my fiancee and two sons. We booked with Jet2 holidays. The hotel itself is very clean but very dated. To me it had a 1930s feel to it. The hotel has huge potential but needs refurbishing to bring it upto date. Our hotel room was very clean and spacious. Basic but comfortable. Cleaned every day. We stayed in a block that is a bit of a walk from the main building. The hotel is also built on a hill. So it is very hilly. Not reccomended for anyone who may have mobility difficulties. I am 6 months pregnant and did get very tired. The restaurant is very hot with no air con. This was very uncomfortable. The food was ok but not alot of choice. This is where the hotel needs to make big improvements I feel. The staff are very friendly and are very good with children. The bar area does get very busy in the evening and you will have to que for drinks. 2 drinks person served. Pool area does need improving. They are 3 pools. The main pool is too small and does need a revamp. 2nd pool is out of the way and small. 3rd pool is inside and I never saw anyone using it. The hotel is situated right on the beach. So great location and great views. For what we paid we cant grumble. It is a no thrills type hotel.

We enjoyed our stay and our one bedroom apartment was lovely. The hotel is quite oddly set out with a detached pool and lots of walking around outside to get to anything. It's just above the beach but this isn't part of the hotel so you pay for beds etc. The food was ok, not great, but we managed to eat when we wanted to. The restaurant can get very full so you end up sharing tables. It's very much a family hotel so lots of children and suitable entertainment. The hotel is in a great location - you can walk to both the old town and the new town strip fairly easily but taxis aren't expensive if you don't want to walk. I would say that I wouldn't suggest staying here if you struggle to walk or don't like hills. Also ladies - heels are an adventure especially in the cobbled bar area ! All in all we enjoyed our week here, especially location wise

I had very nice holiday in Portugal with my family, we travelled with Jet2holiday what can just recommend, very organised team of people and very kind and always happy to help.We had our apartment room with sea view what was very beautiful.Parsonal in hotel was always happy to help if we needed.I would like say massive thank you to Fabio, Igor, Micael and Leticia for always being helpfull.Appatments was everyday cleaned.Food was o.k, everyone can choose what like( lot of vegetable and fruit was served).I just think for the future hotel rooms or apartments need to be refurbish.Anyway we had beautiful time in Albufeira and I think this is right place for holiday with kids.

First of all I would like to start off by saying I have never written a hotel review before and not one to complain about the little things, but after staying at this hotel I felt really strongly about warning others before they decide to book here. I will start off with these positives because shockingly there were some. The location of the hotel was excellent for us, right on the beach front, only 15mins walk to the old town (the hotel does provide an infrequent bus shuttle service but we didn't feel the need to use it) and 15-20mins walk to the new strip so had no issues there. The apartment itself was really spacious and clean and came with a little kitchenette and a big balcony. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end. The hotel itself is very dated, now normally I don’t care what the décor looks like, after all you’re not going to spend most of your time staring at four walls. However, the facilities themselves had clearly not been updated and most of them were either broken or had a very tired and worn feel about them. Take the elevator for example, which we had to get up to the “restaurant” which was on the 8th floor, most of the time it would have been quicker to walk if not safer! The big pool was ok, but the small pool was very dated with broken tiles and a look of neglect about it. The “restaurant” was more like a small school canteen with a very poor selection of food choice. If you weren't there at a certain time, then you would miss out on the limited “luxury items” such as nectarines or flavoured yogurts. (Yes that’s how desperate we got). We managed to eat breakfast there every day, albeit reluctantly, but after only one lunch and one dinner there we couldn’t face the buffet style grease any longer and chose to eat out after that. The snack bar by the pool wasn’t much better either and the snack bar by the beach (even though owned by the hotel) was not included in the all inclusive…funnily enough the food was more bearable there. The all inclusive drinks were a joke, clearly non branded spirits were used, watered down, and the wine was warm and vinegary after sitting in a box in the sun all day. Obviously cocktails were not included (apart from the daily one) but I wouldn’t have bothered with them either as they were clearly premixed cocktails from a carton. We didn’t have hot water in our apartment when we first arrived so reported it to the reception first thing the next day. Unfortunately by the time we had come to use the shower by the evening we still didn’t have any hot water so complained to the reception AGAIN. It wasn’t fixed until the following afternoon, a good 36hours after we had first reported it. We were left with only one bath towel and one hand towel on one occasion which made for interesting showering, but by this point nothing would have surprised us. The beds felt like concrete and the apartments themselves were definitely not sound proof, with every single footstep, baby cry and scraping of the furniture grating on you like nails on a chalkboard. If I had paid next to nothing for this all inclusive experience then don’t get me wrong I would have expected the very basics. But as it goes the price and the rating of this hotel is far too high for what you actually get and I would strongly recommend you reconsider any thoughts of staying here, its really not worth it!

Just returned from my second stay here. The staff are really relaxed and friendly. They all are really busy especially the restaurant staff. Special thanks to Arthur and Louis the porter. There is a great range of food and our party of 6 including two teenage girls never went hungry. Usual deal on all inclusive drinks with a limit of two alcoholic drinks per person in plastic or at night time real glasses. Location is amazing you are literally next to the beach. Pool was busy and you need to reserve a sun bed at 9 am. The beach bar on the beach offered great drinks and food at reasonable prices if you fancy a change from the Hotel and it's next to the Hotels pool. We used the indoor pool and Jacuzzi a few times for a change and it was empty. All in all a great base with clean but basic rooms that are slowly being refurbished. We stayed in A block with great Sea views

On arrival we thought everything was going well, our rep on our transfer bus had told us that we wouldn't be able to check in until 4pm... we arrived around 12pm. This was not the case thankfully, our room was ready and we were given a key straight away. The holiday pretty much went downhill from this point. Our room was literally out in the sticks, were we're escorted by beach buggy and were left on our door step with our bags. We tried our electric door key only to find it did not work. By this point our bell boy had sped off and left us in his beach buggy. (Our apartment location was literally on the beach but this was a nightmare on our last day as it RAINED and we were forced to haul our suitcases on a 20 minute walk through WET sand). We had to also do the 20 minute walk to the reception in order to get a key that actually worked. We went out of season and there was literally no entertainment. The day time entertainment however was run by two young guys/girls... they did a fantastic job at trying to lift people's dampened spirits. The AI food was vile... soft drinks were value alternatives served from plastic bottles left out in the heat to go flat. (Rola Cola) and the spirits were minimal. There was no option of local spirits such as peach snaps or coconut rum... just simple vodka, Irish liquor and white rum. Even the local beer was FLAT. The rooms were clean.. the staff seemed over worked, felt very sorry for the cleaners!!! The bar staff however were very rude, hardly engaged in conversation. Wifi was good!! Good connection in reception area!! Reception staff were great!

Beautiful location, right on the beach. We travelled with elderly relatives and although we emailed ahead to ask for a room in the main hotel as well as requesting this with Jet2 we were given a room in block m2 which is up quite a steep slope and difficult for those with walkiing difficulties. The staff were all friendly and polite, the cleaners did a fantastic job, cleaning the room, fresh towels etc every day as did the waiting staff in the restaurant who were kept extremely busy. The food was on a par with all AI, nothing special but varied and you could always find something to eat. My son said the fish was amazing every day! The bar area was too small, not enough seating for the size of the hotel and the queues could be incredibly long with the staff only allowed to serve 2 drinks per person!. Entertainment was good and the entertainment staff involved you without being pushy. The pool is vastly too small for the hotel and the sunbeds were cramped together with not enough umbrellas for shade, although there is another pool just up from it, but you have to walk back to main pool for drinks/snacks ect. The hotel could do with a tickle, but nothing was detrimental to our holiday. It is what you make it and we dont think it deserves some of the really bad reviews.on here. We would return to Monica Isabel providing we got a room in the main hotel to have all the amenities to hand.

My husband and I absolutely loved this holiday. The food was great. There was a queue at the bar later in the evening however it soon went down. Lovely friendly staff and rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels.

Not a bad hotel. In excellent location and the staff are very friendly. Needs a little work on the hotel in places, but would stay at this hotel again. Entertainment at the hotel needs improving. Food selection not bad.
