Luna clube Oceano is in a perfect location just 5 mins walk to the beach and a 10 min walk to old town. You can walk to old town from the beach. It's so beautiful. The views from the hotel are stunning. We were in the 3rd floor and it was amazing. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Very impressed with the whole experience. Very relaxing holiday
Second time here after a week last September. This 2 week holiday didn't fill us with enthusiasm on returning. Apartment was OK, large and plenty room. Decent sized beds (2) which were comfy enough. Shower was terrible and had no force at all. The water in the apartment actually stopped working on two occasions during the 2 weeks we were there. Reception and communal areas were OK but the pool and the quiet zone next too the hot tubs were a disgrace. Nothing got cleaned, sunbeds, tables or the walkways and the hot tubs were filthy. Food was poor. Really simple choices that were overpriced. Took the breakfast option for the 1st week but passed on the 2nd week. Cold food and not a lot on offer. Happy hour at the bar is at an odd time (5:30pm) meaning when you went downstairs it was more than likely over and the booze isn't that cheap at the bar. Not a lot close by, few bars and mid range cafe's plus a couple of shops. 15 minute walk away from some very nice places like Splendid St and a fantastic Indian called the Great Indian Tandoori - worth a walk up. Wont return here but will come back to Albufeira, just try a different hotel the next time nearer the old town.
Accommodation was great, bedroom away from sun so nice and cool. Veranda overlooking pool, view of ocean. Its roughly half way between the Strip and Old town easy to walk either way. Yes it is hilly....... The cleaners were invisible and rooms were spotless. Staff did not bother you at all but were there when needed.
When booking, I requested a higher floor. My request was not granted and we ended up in a basement studio with no balcony and no privacy. We had children wandering into the area outside our patio doors some days...this would not happen if it had been a balcony. I am very, very disappointed. The maid was not adequate and did not turn up each day until 5pm. The equipment in the kitchen was barely enough. It's a good job that we didn't want to cook a meal. We didn't even have a pen oven, but I have read that other apartments do. We even had to beg the bar to lend us two wine glasses. Not factors for a good holiday. On arrival, and after being told that we couldn't move rooms, although Ruben did try for us, I asked for two bulbs to be repaired. The man who came down to do this left greasy hand marks all over our patio doors and broke the light shade on the patio. The hand marks were there all week. Not good enough.
Stay here with my two young girls for 8 nights, the apartments are very spacious and clean. The balcony I felt was unsafe with two young children as they could easily get through the gaps. We had a lovely view of the sea and pool on the 3rd floor, the room was always cleaned and fresh towels every other day if not everyday. The staff were always very friendly and happy to help, can't comment on the food as we didn't have any. The beach is 2 min walk although very steep with a pushchair, this hotel is in the middle between the old and new town which was perfect. We got a taxi one night which cost us 4 euro!!! Would definitely stay here again just for the location.
I stay in this resort for 6 days having in mind the idea to be next of the beach, close to the old town, easy to access the hotel and with pool for time when is not possible to go in the ocean. I found answer for all those requests here, with a plus as I rented a studio with pool view. In deed the studio is very large with all the facilities for a comfortable stay. The view was to the pool but at the foot level of the people laying on the sunbeds. Nothing about this in the offer from the hotel, so be careful. Nice lobby, nice restaurant but same modest breakfast every day, excepting the very good natural orange juice and as my wife sad very good coffee, The room was clean, even few days we meet a friend in the kitchen a beetle who wait us in the hall, few nights, to come back home. Friendly place. Each day we had new towels, toiletries replacement, floor cleaning. Not the same outside the room. And a final advice, if you read the message from the reception about the service of sending your cards by post, you should know it works, but will arrive at the destination much much later than your come back. Goog parking. Few minutes up to the ocean beach. 20 minutes to the old town. Please see the images.
Stayed for a week in a one bed apartment, good size, clean, maids in every day. Bed not the comfiest a bit on the hard side and was two singles pushed together. Slight mix up with our little ones cot not being in the room but once my husband called it was promptly brought up to the room. Large balcony but perhaps not the safest railing with our toddler running about, quite large gaps in frame. Decor a bit dated in particular the tiling in the bathroom. Pool area appeared well maintained with staff out every morning tidying the area, easy enough to get a lounger although a few were reserved with towels. Bar area upstairs from the pool, very quiet, nice little play area for children next to the hairdressers but they could benefit from more toys or crayons to keep the little ones entertained. No other entertainment that we noticed other than a large screen playing music videos in the evening. Could be wrong though as we ate out in the evenings but certainly when we returned it was very quiet indeed with only a couple other guests in the bar area. Location was ideal as it was a nice 10-15 min walk into old town or new town, just around the corner too from the little blue train stop. There are a couple bars, cafe and mini market on the door step. Stopped by the bar mid week and they were giving out free fruit kebabs, popcorn and sangria to guests with manager welcoming us, nice touch. Despite the small stuff we really enjoyed our stay at Luna Clube Oceano, it is what it is and they don't say they're a 5 star but a very good 3 star and with some updating and small finishing touches they'd easily be a 4 star in our opinion. Would stay again.
The room was basic and spacious, it had anything you would need during a short stay. However the bed was rock hard and we resorted to sleeping on top of the blankets in an attempt to make it softer. Our apartment was on floor 1 which had a tiled corridor which meant when any other guests closed their apartment door the slam echoed right down the corridor and did wake us up or make us jump numerous times. The house keeping also left a lot to be desired. The cleaners didn't seem to ever clean our room until 4 or 5pm, which was the time when we generally wanted to return to our room to get ready for the evening. The hotel policy is that sun loungers are not to be reserved but this happened every day we were there and at times the guests never actually even came to the pool. The policy was never enforced. There were also a few loud groups who blasted their music and shouted and swore between each other which ruined the relaxing atmosphere for us. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant at all. The staff are unpleasant and not very helpful. We ordered some lunch while at the pool area, explained where we were sitting and they told us they would bring it down. The waiter then came down, went to the completely wrong place, offered them our food & when they refused it he took it back into the restaurant without trying to find us. We then waited 15mins, he returned and asked the person right next to us if it was theirs. They again refused, and again he ignored us and walked off. We had to go and get it ourselves from the bar, they didn't apologise for the mix up and our food was cold. The saving grace for this place is the location. Within walking distance to the strip, the supermarket and the beach. We didn't go into the old town but I believe it too is within walking distance.
Just stayed for 4 nights..arrived at 4pm with one person on reception and and the rest of the staff chatting amongst themselves in the back room..whilst the queue was about 8 deep.. The room was a great size and clean enough when we arrived but not really maintained throughout the stay.. The pool was a good size with plenty of sunbeds during the day.. The pool bar staff were very good..attentive and pleasant..not so much the reception staff.. There was too Jacuzzis in the back terrace but only one worked and the other one had what can only be described as sick in it.. Never expected the Ritz to be honest but had an average stay..wouldn't go back though
The Luna Clube Oceano has very friendly staff, nice rooms and if you stay on the 3rd or 4th floor, you can enjoy a lovely view of the Atlantic Ocean. All in all a good stay, but if you in any way are into good food, avoid the rather dull breakfast buffet, and especially the food from the menu card in the evening. When you can mess up a spaghetti carbonara, you don't belong near a professional kitchen. The same goes for the 20 meters away "restaurant" S. João (or something like that), but the nearby Tres Palmeiras or Palacete offers great food, and is only a 5-10 minute walk away. But the rest of the hotel is nice.
