This hotel was in a fantastic location easy to walk to restaurants of an evening. First room offered was looking at a brick wall below road level. Asked reception if possible to change and we were offered pool level 056. Brilliant location. Can well recommend this one. A little musty but open the patio door as much as you can and it helps. It is dated but bathroom had a good shower and there were 3 sockets. TV old but you can find programmes in English with Portuguese subtitles. Beds OK a little hard but there were loads of new mattresses delivered one day obviously carrying out refurbishment. So will be renewed. Bathroom door needed replacing due to water damage and apart from this I loved the place. My friend who has mobility issues managed OK. The guy on reception extremely helpful as were all the female staff. Excellent base for winter break. Would return there bit of an issue with the bird poo but pool hosed regularly. Even the male on reception did it one day.
Hotel well located in walking distance from town and beach. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room spacious and clean but smelled of cigarette smoke. Poor wifi connection, only accessible from lobby. We did not use the pool but from what we saw it seemed clean. Perfect for a cheap getaway.
great place to stay for the price great location, staff were great helpful bit dated but maids in every day clean towels daily room service book again for october 2017 great place to stay .would recommend to everyone to stay here great location .
Staying here at present, before I begin bear in mind I payed less than €20 per night for 2 people, arrived late Friday greeted by lovely young lady who gave us a twin room, we asked for a double and without any bother we’re told we could move , got a king size bed with pool/town sea view. Everything is clean we have a full bathroom ie bath & shower, the towels and room are cleaned everyday by lovely ladies nothing too much trouble. Can’t comment on breakfast as room only but that said we have fridge , kettle cups cutlery glasses so can do our own in room . Then the location, minutes from town, bars restaurants. The only negative are the negative comments I read before arriving, would definitely stay again 🤗
The exterior and the reception maintain its old romantic characteristics. This hotel is a budget hotel, Very basic. It's cleaned most days. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was very dirty the day we went to it, could do with a cleaning. The views from our room were of the city and partly the sea. If you ask for a room on the top floor you will have amazing views. There is ALOT of steps down/back up to the town. Not suitable for poor mobility or even unfit. The beach is a short stroll away and you can get the lift down onto the beach. Some slight noise form the square at night, but nothing too major, the price to pay for the good view. We went stayed at this hotel twice, and Would return to this hotel again.
This hotel is really good if you're after a cheap get away! Its location is fantastic, close enough to walk into Old Town but far enough away so you don't hear any of the noise. After reading the reviews I was worried about staying here but my opinion has definitely changed - ask to stay in room 403! The room itself is a little dated - marks here and there, 3 pillows instead of 4, 1 plug socket. However it was very clean and the cleaners offered to clean our room every day. It was big enough for the 2 of us, a lovely dressing table, a double bed (2 singles pushed together), a big wardrobe, and a little balcony. The breakfast was basic, but again you get what you pay for! Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, orange juice etc. Toast with spreads, rolls with cheese and ham, cereals, cake, and cookies offered too. My only negatives would be we were unfortunate in that we stayed when the neighbours are building, however the noise started about 9am and we were out all day so definitely didn't bother us and was finished when we got back. The hotel is on a slight hill so I wouldn't recommended buggies and wheelchairs etc. I would stay here again if we were ever back in Portugal!
Where do I even begin with this hotel, first of all we were greeted with a beautiful building and had hopes, it all ended when we stepped into the building. We were greeted with a grunt from an older gentlemen who dumped us in the room opposite reception 300, it was VILE we walked in and we walked straight back out because it was disgusting, the floor of the bathroom was barley there, and the bath was surrounded by mould, there was barely a window and absolutely no balcony. So, we got moved to another room, this time with a balcony, our view? A dirty off white wall (picture included) it was big enough for you to sit on, if you are a borrower, I wanted to go home instantly. However, we took it on the chin and tried to look for positives, there wasn’t any, tv didn’t work, 1 Portuguese channel which we couldn’t switch over, self catering? THE FACILITIES INCLUDES: 2 knifes, a bottle opener, 2 plates and 2 cups? What on earth!!!! The beds were ok the sheets were dingy and the throw over the top was smelly and probably never been washed since it opened. The room itself was dark but habitable, hostel style. Jet 2 rate this as a 3 star which is an utter disgrace because it’s barely a 1*, it gives itself a 2 and that’s generous. The bar was never open and pool had tiles coming off its floor. You don’t get sun in that area after 2pm but they do have a nice sun terrace , that was the only good thing about this hotel along with its location, it’s on top of the old town. SO, all things said we got in touch with jet 2 who were fantastic in moving us within 24 hours we had to pay an extra £70 but we did this happily so we could get away from the hotel hell. We didn’t pay a huge amount but it’s no excuse for the disgrace it is. Stay here if you don’t care about rudeness, size, mould on the roof l. The place is physically clean but that is all. If you offered me a free week here I wouldn’t take it. Sorry for the the rage but it ruined 2 days of our holiday and it’s completely unacceptable to label this place a 3 star. Change it jet 2!!
Came here for 10 day Holiday for my birthday and I wish I hadn't. Except the cleaners and one receptionist all the staff are rude and disrespectful. Our room key broke and we're told would take a day to sort but we has no money or cloths or food on us. We went for self catering but all there is is a kettle and fridge no cooking facilities no forks no cups no teabags or coffee nothing to self cater with. A draw in our room is broken the freezer doesn't freeze. The bar is NEVER open. The pool is always very cold colder then the sea and is also never cleaned out. You only get Wi-Fi at the front outside of the building no-one at the pool or in rooms. One out of 2 elevators are broken. We made friends here and within 2 days they moved hotels left there payment here and went somewhere else. The only good thing is you are near the beach, shops and main square. Location is amazing hotel itself is awful. And we will never come here again.
You get what you pay for in regards to this hotel, very basic. In need of abit of TLC. The location however is great, a 5 minute walk & your in the old town square. Full of traditional shops, bars & restaurants. The beach is also a 5 minute walk. The hotel is situated on top of a hill, so if you find walking up hill a struggle I wouldn't recommend. Eddys bar is great for food & is oppersit the hotel. Nice friendly staff.
My sister and I were here for 11 nights in September/October 2017, and we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was a bit dated and quaint, but the beds were very comfortable, mattresses and bed linens spotlessly clean as was the bathroom and towels. Continental breakfast was very basic but with rolls, croissants, cereal, yogurts, ham, cheese, cake, biscuits, apples, oranges, juice, tea and coffee, it was enough to get our days started. The pool area and pool were always clean. Some previous reviews mentioned the birds' droppings on the sunbeds, but the hotel can hardly be blamed for that! Anyway, we went to the pool every morning after breakfast, and it was clear that the pool area and sunbeds had been hosed down, yet on a couple of occasions seagulls had chosen to leave their deposit on a couple of loungers after the loungers had been cleaned, so again, no blame can be put on the hotel. It wasn't as if every lounger was covered in birds' doo-doo. The staff at the hotel were wonderful right from the moment we booked in, and when we asked if it would be possible to have a kettle and cups in our room, these were brought to us within minutes. As we are both early risers it was nice to have a cup of coffee or tea first thing, and there were days when we'd have tomato cup-a-soup after our swim in the pool. We loved the staff, they were friendly and helpful. Our cleaner had the biggest smile and we had many a big hug from her! The hotel itself is very central and despite all the music and noise from the square and the two bars opposite the hotel, the double glazing muffled it enough that we were not disturbed at all and our sleep was never interrupted. It was actually nice to sometimes open the window and listen to all the activity coming from Old Town. We would definitely stay at this hotel again if we ever go back to Albufeira. It's basic and inexpensive and has a great staff. What more can you ask for!
