Came here for 10 day Holiday for my birthday and I wish I hadn't. Except the cleaners and one receptionist all the staff are rude and disrespectful. Our room key broke and we're told would take a day to sort but we has no money or cloths or food on us. We went for self catering but all there is is a kettle and fridge no cooking facilities no forks no cups no teabags or coffee nothing to self cater with. A draw in our room is broken the freezer doesn't freeze. The bar is NEVER open. The pool is always very cold colder then the sea and is also never cleaned out. You only get Wi-Fi at the front outside of the building no-one at the pool or in rooms. One out of 2 elevators are broken. We made friends here and within 2 days they moved hotels left there payment here and went somewhere else. The only good thing is you are near the beach, shops and main square. Location is amazing hotel itself is awful. And we will never come here again.
You get what you pay for in regards to this hotel, very basic. In need of abit of TLC. The location however is great, a 5 minute walk & your in the old town square. Full of traditional shops, bars & restaurants. The beach is also a 5 minute walk. The hotel is situated on top of a hill, so if you find walking up hill a struggle I wouldn't recommend. Eddys bar is great for food & is oppersit the hotel. Nice friendly staff.
My sister and I were here for 11 nights in September/October 2017, and we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was a bit dated and quaint, but the beds were very comfortable, mattresses and bed linens spotlessly clean as was the bathroom and towels. Continental breakfast was very basic but with rolls, croissants, cereal, yogurts, ham, cheese, cake, biscuits, apples, oranges, juice, tea and coffee, it was enough to get our days started. The pool area and pool were always clean. Some previous reviews mentioned the birds' droppings on the sunbeds, but the hotel can hardly be blamed for that! Anyway, we went to the pool every morning after breakfast, and it was clear that the pool area and sunbeds had been hosed down, yet on a couple of occasions seagulls had chosen to leave their deposit on a couple of loungers after the loungers had been cleaned, so again, no blame can be put on the hotel. It wasn't as if every lounger was covered in birds' doo-doo. The staff at the hotel were wonderful right from the moment we booked in, and when we asked if it would be possible to have a kettle and cups in our room, these were brought to us within minutes. As we are both early risers it was nice to have a cup of coffee or tea first thing, and there were days when we'd have tomato cup-a-soup after our swim in the pool. We loved the staff, they were friendly and helpful. Our cleaner had the biggest smile and we had many a big hug from her! The hotel itself is very central and despite all the music and noise from the square and the two bars opposite the hotel, the double glazing muffled it enough that we were not disturbed at all and our sleep was never interrupted. It was actually nice to sometimes open the window and listen to all the activity coming from Old Town. We would definitely stay at this hotel again if we ever go back to Albufeira. It's basic and inexpensive and has a great staff. What more can you ask for!
Location excellent and so is the hotel. It was a very down to earth hotel and so comfortable. Everyone we met was so relaxed and friendly. The breakfast in the morning was a good selection and always fresh supplies.
basic rooms ,basic breakfast , although very clean rooms , problem with breakfast on last day wanted it before the normal breakfast time as leaving early for airport , was told only get breakfast between 8.00 to 10.00 so had to go with out not good for me as diabetic and i paid for the breakfast for the whole holiday , but was not offered refund ,will not be going back
Hotel on outside looks very attractive with lovely courtyard to the front. Sadly on entering the property that illusion ends. First impressions were "it needs updating" and we were only at reception! Service was brusque and we got the whole impression whilst we were there that the staff just didn't care. We never saw management and the nearest we got to seeing the receptionist was the top of his/her head permanently bent down obviously writing or reading something! Now...the rooms. Whilst clean (towels were changed every day) to say it was "sad" is understatement. Balcony too dangerous to sit on and if you suffered from vertigo then it wouldn't be used. Old fashioned and tired furniture and old fashioned TV (circa 1990) on wall. There was kettle and fridge so that was bonus. We were on fourth floor overlooking pool and derelict building which was roofless. Was noisy at night so recommend taking ear plugs. When checking out we just handed in keys. Receptionist didn't even ask us about our stay.. Maybe because he would be too scared of our answer!! We just left!! Bonus though is proximity of hotel to old town and beach so position perfect but hotel not. All they have to do is tart it up and update it. Oh yes forgot to mention!! Bar only open for drinks Mondays to Thursdays until 10 pm. Useless and waste of lovely courtyard. Luckily lovely bar just to left of building called bluebell bar. Would go back to old town albufeira but won't stay at Vila Recife unless they spend money on it to update it and change staff.
For a group of 40 yr olds, the rooms are clean the service is good and the staff are friendly. Twin rooms have all amenities needed and a bonus fridge! Close to all pubs in old town with couple just across the road. Great location
OMG! Please do not go to this hotel! I've never seen anything like it and I've slept in hedges in the army! It's like a prison and the rooms really are cells! I left a wash bag in the room with an expensive electric razor and other items in it, rang to tell them to be told they had found nothing, I could be here all day telling you why not to book this hotel, I've never written a review before and am not fussy in the slightest, just don't do it!
Stayed for 9 nights here and can definitely say it was a pleasant little place, after fears of reading some bad reviews. Well situated for the Old Town but far enough away to relax from the hustle and bustle. Rooms are basic but very clean, although our tv screen hadn't seen a duster in a while 😵. Very small balcony but adequate for us. Courtyard at the front is very pleasant to relax in the afternoon. Pool was ok, although no sun from 2.30pm onwards, but the roof terraces were sun traps in the afternoon. 2 bars opposite which could be noisy and did seem out of place on this pleasant street, noise didn't bother us as our room was to the side, but would be noisy if room situated near the front. All in all a very pleasant stay here and would recommend it for basic accommodation.
Overall this hotel was fantastic, the staff were really nice, it was immaculate and the rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels. The location couldn't have been much better, but the first room we were given had a small window that faced a pain white wall and you couldn't see daylight without craning your next at a funny angle. We couldn't move to another room until four days into our holiday as they were fully booked (and I checked online), then we had a balcony overlooking the pool and a derelict building. This did not ruin our holiday one bit though, and we are going back next year, just to a different hotel.
