Ok,. we did not book this hotel its close to the airport though in a very nice suburb and EZJ booked us and a number of others into the hotel at short notice. There was a bit of stress but the staff dealt with it all really well. I misunderstood them when they said Baby Cots are in the hallway and you help yourself, I was pleased I located one. No issues, We had 2 rooms a family room ( 3 large single beds) one floor one and a double on floor 4, the views and sunrise from the toproom were nice and some of the rooms have balconies. which would have been even better. Ok big plus - the staff they make you feel at ease and at home are superfriendly - a welcome break from the usual corporate airport hotels. If you have time the suburb around the hotel is nice and safe the 16 bus takes you to Faro or Faro Beach via the airport. You can also walk to local supermakets or hike/ taxi to the forum Algarve shopping centre. Location aint bad your not on a highway but pretty close to it. Rooms are quiet- there is some renovation work taking place but its considered. Breakfast is decent - continental with some cooked eggs/hot dog sausages (if that's your bag!). Juice is cordial - you get the drift. The dinner or dish of the day is decent enough and there is a wide choice of usual bar food to tuck into. All freshly prepared and made to order. Free Gym and massage ( add charge) on site/ Swimming Pool outdoor with old fashioned change rooms outside. Most people will use the hotel for a night maybe 2 and for this I highly recommend as the staff are helpful and it beats being part of the FARO airport terminal. Have a go try something different - its not the Hilton but is quite charming and if you adjust your expectations you willl enjoy a nice. quiet and relaxed day or two hear. we stayed 4 nights. Well done Staff of Monaco Hotel!!
Not posh, not fancy, not close to anything in particular (other than the airport), but a welcome sight when our flight was cancelled due to snow at Bristol. Rooms dated but clean, extractor fan not working but plenty of hot water and clean towels, breakfast consisted of cereal, fruits, eggs, Frankfurter type sausages, pastries and dodgy coffee. Check out is midday and they will store your bags in Reception, check in from 14.00. Gym onsite and pool. Big shout out to the staff who are friendly and helpful.
Landed in Faro, late evening; needed an hotel close to the airport that served some food. Had a room bar but would have preferred tea/ coffee making facilities. Pizza in bar was fine, as was breakfast. Clean and as the title says, it did the job!
Most helpful staff great location great price deal. So handy for the airport and bus stop almost at the door to town. Ideal for short break or stop over en route to holidays further afield. 4th visit ans we'll be back
After being unable to return home on our planned flight we booked this hotel for 1 night to get our heads down and catch up on sleep. The next day we had to try arrange flight home and insurance etc and the staff helped us with phone calls and emails. Also had use of computer. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Huge thank you to all the staff
We used the hotel as it was close to the airport. They advertise a free shuttle. We came to find, after taking the taxi from the airport, that the free shuttle only runs during daytime hours and pretty much just for the business part of the day. Upon arrival at the hotel that evening we requested a shuttle back to the airport the next morning. First shuttle was at 9:30 am! We accepted the time and prepared to leave then. When we showed up for the shuttle in the morning we were told we were not on the list and the shuttle was full. We took a taxi to the airport. I won't be back. We will visit Algavre again, but the next time in Faro, we will stay somewhere else. Not as advertised. Reception needs improvement. Rooms are fine.
Two good things: 5min from the airport and the staff at the front desk & the bar was polite. All the rest was very bad! I would be curious to know who was brave enough to label this place 4 stars! I believe Stevie Wonder did it cause it's barely a 2 stars! The room was so old fashioned that it seems to be in 1981 in East Berlin....the elevator is slower than my grandma and I wish I have photos of the breakfast....it looked so awful! I feel really sorry for the gang of British geezers who checked-in after me. Their faces were really proven.....I spent just a night there but I still feel scammed for how much money I paid.
I feel that this hotel does not merit the four stars it has. We've stayed at far better places with less or no stars. Other than that, the stay at the Monaco Hotel was fine. The employees were friendly, provided us with a bus schedule but did not mention the shuttle service the hotel seems to have (as I have read on here after our stay). This is needed since it's about an hours' walk into the center of Faro as well as to the beach. There's not much to see or do around the hotel so if you're not only spending the night you'll have to get a cab or the bus. The room was very clean and two bottles of water were provided. The furniture and especially the bathroom had seen better times but that was fine by us. Breakfast was mediocre at best - a little unfortunate that it's in the basement instead of at the bar where there would be daylight. Didn't try the pool but it looked okay.
Ok the negatives if this hotel are. Some of the reception staff are needing to do a course in courtesy. (Not all). Firstly was given very little information about hotel facilities. I have never been in a hotel were most of the staff hardly say good morning and don't even smile at their clientele. The indifference in some of the staff is shocking. I am not naming and shaming. I had to ask them about the shuttle bus, and even then the information was limited. As was told it went to the beach and back. Did not find out til last day it also went to Faro Town and back. The information packs in the room are awful more like a no information pack. This hotel is very far out. There is a restaurant and a bar in Montenegro about a five minute walk, but never really seen them open. Not a good area for anyone who has mobility problems. The breakfast is shocking, now I am not a fussy eater but really it was bad. Fruit salad (tinned why bother) the yoghurt when you did manage to get a cold one was disgusting. Scrambled eggs looked like rubber and cold the tinned sausages aargh I could go on forever about it. If you are not gonna take pride in what you are serving don't bother. The dining room in the basement appears dingy and unwelcoming. But enough of the down side as there were some good points too. The rooms and hotel are spotless. If a little tired. Daily maid service. Tiago and Gabriella are fabulous they work behind the bar. They took time to chat and treated us so well. The pool are was fine. Some of the chairs were broken and the area could do with a makeover but on the whole good and very relaxing. The shuttle bus goes to Faro Town at 10am returns at 5pm. (Well worth a visit, beautiful place). Praia de Faro beach at 10.30 am returning at 5.30pm. This is a daily service but really has to be booked the day before as there are only 8 seats on the bus. We did not eat in hotel until the last night. They have a bar snack menu. The best club sandwich I have ever had. (So they can produce good food just not in the morning)!! Ok now onto getting to and from Faro at night. Reception will call a taxi when asked to take you into Faro Town for the evening which has plenty of bars and beautiful restaurants, night life here is very laid back. If you are looking for karaoke go somewhere else. BEWARE before you go into town to organise how you are getting back to hotel. There are 3 taxi ranks in the town and I have yet to see a taxi in them. We waited over an hour and a half eventually we went to the hotel Eva and the wonderful girl at reception phoned us a private transfer. As my mother who has poor mobility could not stand any longer. Have never been anywhere with such a lack of taxis. Apparently they all sit at the airport waiting on fares. This happened to us twice so put us off going back into Faro in the evening. I probably would not stay at the Monaco Hotel again mainly due to where it is situated.
Just leaving after an 8 day stay with family including teenagers and a baby. The staff are wonderful and cannot do enough for you! The rooms are excellent contrary to others opinions. Pool area is generally quiet enough to get a bed or chair. Do not let any of the negative comments put you off staying here. Breakfast is basic but good. Bar food is typical bar food to be expected! Mojito's are to die for! The hotel is 10 min taxi ride to Faro centre and about the same to the beach! A bus stop right near the hotel is the best way to get to the beach and either a taxi or bus to Faro Centre. There is also a hotel Shuttle bus if you ask at reception but they cant accommodate babies. Julio on reception is fantastic and the room cleaning staff are amazing. Our stay was perfect 👌 thank you.
