I feel that this hotel does not merit the four stars it has. We've stayed at far better places with less or no stars. Other than that, the stay at the Monaco Hotel was fine. The employees were friendly, provided us with a bus schedule but did not mention the shuttle service the hotel seems to have (as I have read on here after our stay). This is needed since it's about an hours' walk into the center of Faro as well as to the beach. There's not much to see or do around the hotel so if you're not only spending the night you'll have to get a cab or the bus. The room was very clean and two bottles of water were provided. The furniture and especially the bathroom had seen better times but that was fine by us. Breakfast was mediocre at best - a little unfortunate that it's in the basement instead of at the bar where there would be daylight. Didn't try the pool but it looked okay.

Ok the negatives if this hotel are. Some of the reception staff are needing to do a course in courtesy. (Not all). Firstly was given very little information about hotel facilities. I have never been in a hotel were most of the staff hardly say good morning and don't even smile at their clientele. The indifference in some of the staff is shocking. I am not naming and shaming. I had to ask them about the shuttle bus, and even then the information was limited. As was told it went to the beach and back. Did not find out til last day it also went to Faro Town and back. The information packs in the room are awful more like a no information pack. This hotel is very far out. There is a restaurant and a bar in Montenegro about a five minute walk, but never really seen them open. Not a good area for anyone who has mobility problems. The breakfast is shocking, now I am not a fussy eater but really it was bad. Fruit salad (tinned why bother) the yoghurt when you did manage to get a cold one was disgusting. Scrambled eggs looked like rubber and cold the tinned sausages aargh I could go on forever about it. If you are not gonna take pride in what you are serving don't bother. The dining room in the basement appears dingy and unwelcoming. But enough of the down side as there were some good points too. The rooms and hotel are spotless. If a little tired. Daily maid service. Tiago and Gabriella are fabulous they work behind the bar. They took time to chat and treated us so well. The pool are was fine. Some of the chairs were broken and the area could do with a makeover but on the whole good and very relaxing. The shuttle bus goes to Faro Town at 10am returns at 5pm. (Well worth a visit, beautiful place). Praia de Faro beach at 10.30 am returning at 5.30pm. This is a daily service but really has to be booked the day before as there are only 8 seats on the bus. We did not eat in hotel until the last night. They have a bar snack menu. The best club sandwich I have ever had. (So they can produce good food just not in the morning)!! Ok now onto getting to and from Faro at night. Reception will call a taxi when asked to take you into Faro Town for the evening which has plenty of bars and beautiful restaurants, night life here is very laid back. If you are looking for karaoke go somewhere else. BEWARE before you go into town to organise how you are getting back to hotel. There are 3 taxi ranks in the town and I have yet to see a taxi in them. We waited over an hour and a half eventually we went to the hotel Eva and the wonderful girl at reception phoned us a private transfer. As my mother who has poor mobility could not stand any longer. Have never been anywhere with such a lack of taxis. Apparently they all sit at the airport waiting on fares. This happened to us twice so put us off going back into Faro in the evening. I probably would not stay at the Monaco Hotel again mainly due to where it is situated.

Just leaving after an 8 day stay with family including teenagers and a baby. The staff are wonderful and cannot do enough for you! The rooms are excellent contrary to others opinions. Pool area is generally quiet enough to get a bed or chair. Do not let any of the negative comments put you off staying here. Breakfast is basic but good. Bar food is typical bar food to be expected! Mojito's are to die for! The hotel is 10 min taxi ride to Faro centre and about the same to the beach! A bus stop right near the hotel is the best way to get to the beach and either a taxi or bus to Faro Centre. There is also a hotel Shuttle bus if you ask at reception but they cant accommodate babies. Julio on reception is fantastic and the room cleaning staff are amazing. Our stay was perfect 👌 thank you.

Helpful, polite staff and an excellent level of cleanliness. It may not be in a resort centre but the facilities advertised were all clean, and well maintained. The pool area calm and not over crowded. Breakfast is limited in cooked dishes choice but reasonable all the same.

Nice hotel with shuttle to and from the airport.very nice pool and pool area.rooms spacious with air conditioning.nice bar with ok bar food.very poor selection of restaurants in the area but short taxi ride to town.

The bedroom was spacious for two of us and it was cleaned immaculately each day. The pool was very peaceful and clean to relax and unwind. On the morning of our departure the taxi cancelled on us last minute- the hotel receptionist organised one of the staff to drive us in the hotel shuttle bus at 3.30am. Such great staff.

Although it is close to the airport, I see this hotel more like a place to salesmen than for tourists. Unfortunately, in the summer it tends to get a bit over priced. The rooms are decent but the breakfast is a bit sloppy and served in the basement.

A main attraction of the Monaco hotel is its proximity to the airport. It has the features to justify its star rating, but all is a bit tatty and the whole place could really do with refurbishment. Staff were generally friendly. The breakfast was decent.

We booked into this hotel at very short notice, after my wife had a seizure in Faro airport with Ryanair deciding she was unfit to fly. Incidentally, Ryanair and the airport staff, (apart from one exception - a lady who retrieved our jettisoned luggage), were dreadful. We booked in to the Monaco because it was close to the airport, (1.3km) and I had not had the time nor inclination to troll through reviews. It was around 9.30 pm when we checked in and the staff on the desk were very helpful. We settled into our room and I visited the bar and ordered a couple of toasties and some drinks. The guy behind the bar was really helpful and told me he'd call our room when everything was ready. He did and whilst it was hardly Jamie Oliver it did the job nicely. As if things had not been bad enough, when we first got to the room, we couldn't open one of our bags, (combination lock), which had obviously had a good bash at the airport, (probably when Ryanair were washing their hands of us). This had essentials in, so I asked at the desk for help, as I did not want to completely smash the case as we still needed to use it. At around 10pm in the evening, the guy on the desk called the hotel handyman, who came almost immediately. He broke into the case for us, (we knew it would be knackered), but he made a really good job of taping up the damage to the lock so that it was not immediately obvious that the case was unlocked. The next day, we explained to reception what our situation was, (we needed a fit to fly certificate from a doctor), and they pointed out the local hospital and a private alternative that was only 2/3 km away. They organised a taxi for us to the latter and after a bit of toing and froing, we got what we needed. That evening, I went back to the airport to book on the next available flight, (19.10 the following evening). We stayed a second night and the following day were due to checkout at noon. Because of my wife's health, I really didn't want to be running around, or hanging about at a busy/noisy airport. I asked if we could check out a bit later and after consulting the manager, the lady on the desk said that the cleaner would leave our room until last and we could go at 3pm. A little later, the manager stopped me on my way out of the hotel, saying that we could stay in the room until 5pm - no extra charge for any of this. At 5pm they 'shuttled' us to the airport free of charge. Prior to this, we had been staying in the Pine Cliffs Hotel in Albufiera, paying 303 Euros a night for B&B. The Monaco was 99 euros a night. You cannot compare. Yes, the breakfast was a little disappointing and in many places the hotel needs a facelift. The room was quite adequate and we slept pretty well. We had no problems with the wifi and my wife had a very welcome hot bath when we first arrived. The staff at Pine Cliffs are well trained courteous and all over you, but the staff at the Monaco will have our undying gratitude for the way that they treated us when we really needed help. Sometimes, it's not about money. For a short stay, convenient to the airport and Faro centre, the hotel is fine.

We needed to stay close to the airport to catch an early flight the next morning. Previous reviews concerned us but we were really pleased with the hotel, the staff, our room and the location. Due to our need to leave before breakfast, the hotel kindly provided boxed breakfast for us which was much appreciated. Would stay there again.
