Great location for a quiet family holiday in August away from the busy Algarve resorts. If you are looking for a hotel that is only a short walk to the beach, then this hotel is ideal. Be aware of the steep hill. Evening meal is great value for money. Spacious rooms with kitchenette. Room for improvement: the beds / matresses are hard and not very confortable. Note: as Faro airport is less than 30 mins away there is obviously some noise from the passing aircraft
The room was spacious and clean. There were 3 kids in one room and onky two beds so we requested a fold out bed which we got but the so called matress on it was so thin and uncomfartable so we ended uo putting the back cushions on the couch under the matress which made it a lot better. The breakfast was good and the restuarant had nice food but on the barbeque night the food was horrible and way overpriced for what they were serving. I highly reccomend the beach nearby it is very clean and the waves are fun for the kids exept to rent a bed is 12€ but worth it for the day. Also on the website it mentions there is a tennis court which there is not! They told us we were welcome to use the ria park hotel up the roads tennis court at a charge of 10€ per person per hour which a rip off! Overall ok place
Superb hotel, clean, well equipped and spacious rooms, staff were fantastic and couldn't be more helpful or friendly. Pool area was just the right size and the pool a lovely temperature. Location is good and transfers to golf were easy to arrange and very efficient. Overall a great hotel
Lovely place spacious apartments, great pool area, bar & restaurant. Buffet Breakfast included in the deal. The staff were lovely. The problem is you need a car, there isn't anywhere really in walking distance to get a good meal without using a car or taxi. One restaurant on the beach which is very expensive & no supermarket nearby. Very nice area of algarve we haven't visited before but not easy to get around with a vehicle. The only downside of this hotel it attracts a light of golfers, unfortunately over the weekend there were a few parties of men, some were no trouble but there were a couple of groups all British I might add they didn't care for there fellow guests & made it quite unpleasant around the pool particularly late afternoon. Rowdy behaviour, swearing, playing music & they weren't youngsters either, shame really a few can spoil what is a very peaceful restful retreat. The whole dynamics of this changed on Monday when they all went home. We asked a particularly good member of staff to ask them to turn the music off, which they did begrudgingly only to out it back on after he walked back into the bar, not nice for people with young children.
We've just returned from a fantastic four day golf tour. We based ourselves in these apartments overlooking the pool with the sea beyond. The whole team looked after us superbly, without exception. The simple apartments are well equipped and air conditioned, the beds were comfortable and the whole place was clean. The lovely cleaning ladies smartened up our beds and bathrooms every day. Outside there is a clean and functional pool with many chair beds, towels supplied with a small deposit. The dining is very much in line what one would expect, breakfast is comprehensive, fresh and and abundant. Lunch, (after a game of golf), tasty and entirely agreeable and the evening meal, (we ate there on our first night), will not set the culinary world alight, but is perfectly adequate. The two associated golf courses (Pinheiros Altos and San Lorenzo) were excellent and the transfer by minibus was reliable and efficient. The fabulous beach is a short walk down a rutted sandy path and the beach leads to a number of restaurants and beach bars. We plan on returning next year!
Hotel was clean and well presented. Rooms were clean and spacious. Our deal included bed and breakfast which was buffet style. Food was lovely. Due to its location, we had to book taxi's to get around and visit local sites (restaurants and bars), however taxi's were quick when ordered. Staff in all areas including restaurant, bar and reception were so friendly and approachable, however on two occasions the cleaners had left our patio doors open when they had left the room.
We really enjoyed this hotel. Our room was large with a sitting area, kitchen and large bed area. There was a problem with the air conditioner and the staff were quick to assist. The breakfast was very tasty and had a wide range of options.
Having booked our holiday we noticed that the hotel was being offered on a golf holiday website, and frankly this hotel is ideal for groups of golfers on short breaks. Although the hotel is "very nice" I would not recommend it for a family or "couples" holiday as we were surrounded by groups of noisy Jack Nicklaus wannabes at mealtimes and late evening. Apartments are well appointed with most, if not all required equipment, good furnishings and plenty of storage space. The view over the pool from our balcony was pleasing although building orientation did not allow sun to penetrate the balcony area at any time during the day. Balcony just wide enough to accommodate chairs and table only. Would not have been happy, however, if I had been allocated a ground or first floor room within yards of the car park! Good points; nice pool and surroundings and plenty of pool beds; good breakfast although cramped dining area when golfers gathered together, nice outdoor dining space; very helpful, accommodating and knowledgable staff throughout hotel, nothing too much trouble for them. Downside; the poor quality of the beds, OK if one had ingested enough liquid anaesthetic at night but not for my elderly back resulting in 5 days broken, painful, sleep. Bathroom towels barely adequate for drying oneself. Some good restaurants in the locality and beach bars/restaurants are all very good, but only accessible with a car. Good spa but no other distractions or entertainment. Overall an adequate short break holiday with nothing overtly detrimental, but would not return unless it was a for a golfing break. Near to airport but in remote location focused almost exclusively on the golfing fraternity. Car required, good roads in the area for exploration further afield. Overall a "nice" hotel with a well presented and appointed apartment and pool and grounds well looked after and nicely maintained. Good value for money for a short break.
Stayed for 4 nights in the Formosa apartment. Some staff were polite and friendly and the apartment was spacious and clean. However the bad outweighed the good. The hotel was in the middle of nowhere and the closest supermarket was about a 50 minute walk. (10 minute drive) . You definitely need to hire a car or get taxis to get around. The nearest train station is Almancil. (20 minute drive) which will take you to all the different areas in Algarve. (Albufeira, Lagos etc) The nearest beach was beautiful and is about a 5-10 minute walk away. However as a solo, black, female traveller I experienced intimidation & racism from guests. Guests were very hostile and stared at me my entire trip. The hotel seemed empty and was full of one type of people. (Middle class, snobs) Not great for me, as I am used to diversity and a mixture of people. Even though some staff were friendly and polite ( restaurant / bar staff) other staff members were unhelpful and unfriendly. Bedsheets was made but not changed once during stay, however clean towels were provided daily. The breakfast was very basic and consisted of fruits, bread, cereal and a few plain hot foods. I was quite disappointed with my apartment. As I booked an apartment on the highest level but was given an apartment on the ground floor, overlooking a children's play area. When I asked to move, I was told that there was no free apartments. Which I thought was a lie because the hotel overall seemed pretty empty. I then had trouble with the glass slide doors in my bedroom which was broken and needed to be fixed by a member of staff. This hotel would be great for somebody that wants a quiet break and has access to transportation . In contrast, I wouldn't stay here again, as I am used to a diverse environment with close amenities.
Just back from fifth or sixth stay at Formosa Park over 3 or so years and once again, had a great experience. The positives.....the entire facility is immaculately clean and well maintained, inside and out. The staff are excellent and very welcoming and accommodating (particular mention to Carlos in the restaurant/bar who looked after us so well). The hotel is a lovely size and never feels busy, even when full. Best of all, it's a 5-10 minute walk to the magnificent beach and walkway through the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. If I was to be picky, I'd say the decor in the suites is a tad dated from a decor perspective - not the quality e.g., Nespresso coffee makers recent additions - and the hairdryer is tricky to manage when you have long hair, but no complaints otherwise! As other reviewers have said, you need a car to get around or be prepared to take taxis. All in all though, this is a real gem! Special thanks to the management for the lovely birthday treats!! We'll be back!
