This is literally steps away from the most beautiful striking beach in Lagos (and arguably the Algarve). Also a few min drive in or longer walk to Lagos town which is sooo charming as well. Would stay here again and again. Book it!

Fabulous location right near the beach - cheap all day beds and umbrella at the beach (13 Euro) Hotel offered towels for the beach to rent at a small cost (approx 7 Euro for 4/5 days) Walk to the old town about 10-15 minutes (one road so an easy walk) Photos are very deceiving though, very old gym and equipment, some equipment was missing parts and not really functional. Sorry I never took any to support my review. Shower was great as there was no curtain (this is a plus for us) although small bathroom with no ventilation and bedroom area was also cramped, no where to have our suitcases open, had to store one in the cupboard so it was out of the way. Crap old pillows Bed also wasn't too great but the pillows need an upgrade at least Side sea view is great and great size balcony although not the bigger versions with the day beds but still great for sitting in the sun looking out to the ocean Not a bad continental breakfast selection Ham, tomato and cheeses - breads - fresh variety of fruit and sweets and eggs.

We chose this hotel based almost entirely on the location. It is situated on the picturesque Praia Dona Ana. The hotel accommodations were decent, but not the best. We booked a junior suite. The room was clean and spacious. It had a small sitting area with a porch off of it and the bedroom to the left with a beautiful beach/restaurant view. The staff was friendly and helpful. They arranged a couple excursions for us very efficiently and with a smile. The restaurant was ok and a bit overpriced but had a fabulous view of the beach. The breakfast was plentiful and frequently replenished. Our waiter/bartender Jackson was so friendly and attentive. He made our return trips to the restaurant very pleasant.

Very nice hotel, very clean and tidy. Breakfast was adequate but nothing to write home about - cold scrambled eggs, cold meats, yoghurts, fruits. Lovely rooftop terrace to eat it though. Great location near to beach but a lot of steps down to it and it is very busy, hot hot sand and freezing sea! About 3km walk into lovely town with all the different restaurants and shops you could want! No trashy Brit cafes which was good. The room was small but ok, air con was fine but could have done with a small fridge and more drawers for clothes. Transfer was the worst part, rather than an hour as expected it was over two as it was the last drop off on arrival and the first pick up on departure - worth paying the difference for the taxi I think.

It's difficult to sum this hotel up we booked as always after careful consideration of trip advisor views and decided this hotel seemed good value for money however it is certainly not up to the standard we thought it would be. We appreciate it is only a three star hotel but in some areas of the hotel we personally don't feel it even deserves three stars. On arrival the staff were not helpful did not explain anything we had to ask where the lift was, where breakfast was and to be honest the reception staff were quite frankly ignorant. We paid to have a sea view room on the fourth floor which did have a sea view to the left and a view on an abandoned graffiti scrawled building to the right which on several occasions we saw homeless people going into. The other view directly outside is off the car park for the beach which was quite amusing to watch when busy. The room itself was adequate it looked like it had been modernised to a certain degree at some stage. The bed and pillows were comfy and it was cleaned everyday however on two occasions at 5pm just when we are coming in from being out all a bit bizarre. The air conditioning was good however due to a blocked drain on our balcony the excess water from this caused huge puddles on our balcony as couldn't drain away. There is a room safe that is 2 euros a day to hire, no fridge which is an essential in the heat. Breakfast well what an experience it is chaotic to say the least very basic and everyone fighting to get to the food round a small area. Only two cereals cornflakes and some chocolate flakes. Powdered scramble egg everyday that was cold along with either some sort of bacon, sausage or bacon beans again cold. The bread was good and excellent fruit choice but overall we thought it was poor. We were only bed and breakfast thankfully as there are some beautiful restaurants in Lagos itself. The pool area was very tired and worn. Broken sun beds and only about four parosols again which were well worn or broken. The pool itself was aqeuate despite being 38 degrees the pool was relatively cold. We didn't or drink at the pool bar so cannot comment on that and to be fair very few people used it. We attempted to use the gym however most equipment either broken or worn one treadmill doesn't work, neither did the cross trainer or bikes again disappointing when advertising you have these facilities felt quite mislead. The hotel is full of different nationalities but found it to heavily full of Americans whom I am sorry to say kept us awake several nights at 2am with their behaviour of shouting, swearing arguing after consuming large amounts of alcohol very very inconsiderate. The hotel is about 20 mins walk along the coastal path and then footpath by the river into Lagos. Quite a pleasant walk quite breezy though in the evening. The path outside the hotel has a lot of rubbish on it and dog poo so be careful when walking. The beach is lovely and if you turn right out the hotel you can walk along the lovely cliffs to get good views. Spar supermarket not far away which sells cheap water, wine etc. Overall disappointed but guess we got what we paid for we certainly won't return to this hotel as far nicer ones in Lagos and would prefer to spend a little more and get a better standard. The hotel needs to spend some money to bring up to scratch.

3 hour train trip from Lisbon. Good place to stay in Lagos. Walking distance to town centre. Clean basic rooms, some with spacious decks. Located directly above beautiful Dona Ana Beach. Helpful, friendly staff. Open air roof top restaurant has beautiful views of the water. Breakfast included in room price was basic, but fine. Dinner and lunch were excellent; delicious unfancy plates. a good location and value. i would stay again.

We stayed at the Carvi Beach Hotel from July 24th to July 28. First to let travelers know it took almost 2 hours by shared transfer from the Faro airport as its the last stop for the shuttle. I thought it would only be an hour. Check in is pretty easy. The most helpful staff member was Pedro. Ok, our problem with the hotel was the nickel and diming. Beach and pool towels are not complimentary. It's like 2 euro a day per towel. Also the room safe is the same deal. The rooms are small but adequate. There was a nice balcony. Very good AC. Also your key card goes in a slot by the door and stays there to power the room. They don't tell you at the front desk theses things. The weather was amazing, mid 80's and blazing sunshine everyday. It seems the rooms only have twin beds pushed together. It's about a 20 minute walk to the cultural center of Lagos, my back is pretty messed up so we took cabs. It's 5 euro to the cultural center which has plenty of restaurants and shopping. There is also a tram that comes every hour that picks up at a little convenience store next to the hotel. It's like 3 euro round trip, but it stops at the city center and marina nearby. Now the beach is a very long way down a giant staircase. The Atlantic water is very cool, I hear it gets warmer in October. Buy a beach mat for under 3 euro as lounge rentals are 12 euro a day. The hotel restaurant is ok, we ate lunch and dinner a couple times there for convenience. The pool is on the top floor, the water was very cold considering that the sun is pounding down on it all day. So the free breakfast is also ok. Fairly good coffee and fruit, but the selection of items is limited. I would have given more stars for this hotel if they provided more bang for your buck. You get killed with tax on the booking. It was the the most reasonably priced hotel on the beach I could find.

This review only refers to the restaurant in the Carvi Beach Hotel. We really enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was very good, the view was amazing, and there was good live music in the restaurant (a singer/guitar player that played great songs). The whole atmosphere was very romantic.

If I was nit picking I would say that they need kitchenettes in the rooms, the waiter/bar staff could be much quicker, and the ancient gym equipment could be updated. Safe should be free also (it's 2 Euro per night). But for the money this hotel is awesome. Friendly staff, good rooms, comfy beds, right next to the beach, 5 euro taxi into town (or walk). That breakfast buffet is awesome too. The hotel was full of, and ideal for, couples.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It is well located for both the beach and the old town, so in that way it is great. We did encounter an issue though while we were there, it was an extremely hot day that we arrived and the air conditioner in our room was broken. We were told we could move to a non view room, but at that point we still were thinking maybe we were doing something wrong. After a terrible night we went to the front desk and were told a room opened up that we could have. We moved, air conditioner worked, but the room itself was smaller and had a terrible view from what we had booked. We asked if we could get some compensation, seeing as we were there for 2 more nights, and were told no. We also felt like we were being nicked and dimed, have to pay 2 euros a day to use our room safe, and another 2 euros each day for a pool towel. The breakfast was good though, with a beautiful view, and the room, although small, was clean. Also all the staff we encountered were very nice. If you have a car there is plenty of parking in the public parking lot right out front, but during the day it is a challenge to find a spot. Once people leave the beach later in the day there are tons of spots. In general I felt it was good, not great, but would recommend it if you were in Lagos for a few days.
