We spent only one night before taking the ferry to Samothraki. We were warmly welcomed at the reception. The room was simple but nice with a balcony all around the room. It was confortable, the only thing that could be improved is the breakfast, although suffisant in quantity the quality was somehow disappointing.
I booked to stay in that hotel for a night at 17 Of September. The guy at reception told me that is not a room available as he gave my room to other guy! He decided to move me to another hotel called "Sofia apartments " which owning to him as well. Sofia apartments is far away from the ferries. I booked Marianna hotel, just for one night to be close to ferries, and he moves me without my willing. He is not a professional guy and he can't work with tourists with such a behaviour. The owner is really heronic. Not recommended!!! Stay away from that guy!!!
Hotel located on the main street of Alexandroupoli. Rooms are in good condition. They have facility for disable people. Greek bakery is front of the hotel. Overall a good hotel with its staff and service.
Located downtown gives an excellent access to all nearby shops, restaurants, tavernas, pharmacies etc plus the fact that you can be next to the see within a 2-minute walk. The Italian owner of the hotel is a lovely lady that offers homemade breaksfast and a lot of love and hospitality. The rooms were clean but the only problem was the extremely small bathroom (concerning my room). It was so small that in order to wash my face I needed to turn my body to the side and even in this way I managed to full everything with water...
When I arrived there between 1 - 2pm the lady at reception told me that they had expected me after midnight. I showed them the contract in English, where it said: arrival between 1-2pm. The lady must have mixed things up and reading it in Greek although with Latin letters. In Greek 'pm' is written as 'mm' and 'am' (ante meridiem) as 'pm' (pro mesymvrias). There was no elevator, but a chairlift, to which my big suitcase was tied to take it up to the first floor. I didn't bother uising it on the way down. The room was clean and adequate, the bed was good, also the bathroom. For toiletries they had a combined shampoo and shower gel. There was a mini-bar with soft drinks, beer and water (0.70 Euro) for sale. All other hotels I used on my trip had a free water bottle in the room. There was a small balcony, but a rather unappealing view towards the apartment blocks on the other side of the narrow street. When checking the internet, I selected this hotel for its closeness to the harbour and for the overall good comments. There were single rooms on offer for 52 € per night without breakfast. But with just one bed and 10 sq m this was too small for me, since I was travelling with a big suitcase. So I went for a twin room single use for 68 € per night without breakfast. Most Greek hotels I have been to only have twin or double rooms, no single rooms. So when I booked with the same website a single room at my next accomodation on Samothrace island I got a 25 sq m twin room with beautiful old style furniture, a big balcony and a sea view in a hotel with a big lobby, an elevator, a big swimming-pool and a very sumptuous breakfast included in the price of 40 € per night. For the return to Alexandroupolis I cancelled my stay at the Marianna, because in the meantime I found a hotel there with a bigger room, a nice view over the harbour, a more central location and a very good breakfast included for a lower price.
Very nice hotel, located in the very center of the city, lovely staff, nicely renovated and decorated. Very clean and value for money accomodation. The only thing missing was a hair-dryer from the bathroom.
Really friendly and lovely staff. The room is very clean ,AC working very well.A rich and kind breakfast we had in the hotel. It is near the city center and you can walk to the seaside and taverns in 5 minutes :)))
located in the centre of Alexadroupolis, its a tiny, well designed hotel with kind staff. U have many bars \ restaurants nearby. Stayed just 1 night on our way to Thassos. Recommended ! !!!!!!!!! The city is beautiful.
The hotel located inthe city center is very close to the marina and all places like taverns, cafes and bars. The rooms are decorated minimally and you can find everything you may need. The room and the bathroom are clean enough. Patricia is very warm and makes you feel that you know each other for a long time. The breakfast was a surprise for us. It's much more than a "hotel breakfast". I'm not sure about the other breakfasts in Greece becuase it was our first time in Greece. We've decided to visit Alexandroupoli in summertime for a week staying most probably at Hotel Marianna. We wish to rent a car and visit the villages around. Thank you for your warm hosting again.
we had a small weekend getaway with friends at the end of JULY 2015. we chose marianna for its location and when we arrieved to the hotel we realized we made the rigth choice. its walking distance to all the major restaurants and bars. the staff was friendly the check in was quick and the breakfast was really good. since there is not much to the in alexandrapouli, the hotel provided the best facilities it could. its near the light house and there are beaches close by. its a nice choice for a short time stay.
