Very spacious, well-located, but cold in winter

Pros: Very spacious with large dining room and multiple living areas. Nice courtyard, with friendly neighborhood cats. Good location -- could walk to restaurants and shops and could see the ocean. Clean, and furnishings with authentic character. Has washing machine (and a drying rack). Would be lovely for a stay in spring, summer or fall. Cons: It had been relatively cold and rainy for a few days when we arrived in late December, and the house, although lovely and clean, was musty smelling and cold. There is no central heating, but we appreciated the one space heater, which we put in our daughter's bedroom. We made the best of it and enjoyed our time there -- we bought wood for the fireplace from the grocery store, moved the kitchen table into the room with the fireplace (we could shut the doors to that room, luckily), and kept warm during the day while playing games and reading. But if you like warm, cozy, dry spaces, you should probably think twice before booking this in winter.

Palace in Old Town Albufeira

Wonderful, very grand and soulful old style family home. Pictures do not do it justice. Love hearing the church bells chime out the bedroom window. Sofia is a delightful, prompt and very accommodating host and property manager. We felt very welcome and enjoyed our stay.
