Rooms need to be cleaned better also its very hard for some that pick up the phone to take a room service order to understand what you are ordering my order the day before i left cam wrong 3 times it was super frustrating 😑

Great resort, very clean, rooms were spacious! Beach area was nice, not the best swimming areas, as the shore is a little rocky in most areas, but they work! I am a lover of Mexican food and the food offered at the buffet was pretty darn good! The drinks seemed weak. We watched them make most of our drinks but they didn’t feel very strong at all. The property is wonderfully kept! Staff was amazing, always went above and beyond! We loved our stay and will return again!

While this worked for our vacation, I wouldn’t stay here again. The food was not very good. Two times the electricity shut off in our room and we had to call maintenance. We had to wait a long time for the resort shuttle service. Also-this place is not very close to Tulum and a one way taxi was about $65 USD

Great for families, easy to get around

On February 4th 2022, my party was supposed to check in the hotel 4 persons in 2 suites for 6 nights. 2/4/2022-2/10/2022. Our flight was cancelled that day, I contacted Orbitz who was the 3rd party who I booked through, they were unable to reach the reservation department to change our dates. I emailed and called myself with no help from the Bahia at all, i was hung up on and told to contact Orbitz. On 2/5/2022 our second flight was cancelled, and were unable to check in hotel for the second night!! Again I contacted Orbitz, emailed Bahia with no help from Bahia Customer service! I wanted to change our check in and check out dates since we were missing 2 nights in 2 rooms we had already paid for. Upon arrival on 2/6/2022 to Bahia Akumal at approximately 10:20 PM I was told once again by the front desk i was unable yo change those dates, Orbitz would have to contact. How can Orbitz contact and change if they tried multiple occasions with no answer. (I have supporting emails from Orbitz stating this information as well!) So since we did not want to only have 4 nights in Mexico we booked another night 2/10/2022 checking out on. 2/11/2022. Everything was fine until checking out on 2/11 I checked out from our room, but my mother was told she wasn’t allowed to check out…the man at front desk told her the extra night was for only 1 person per room. Now 4 persons had been in those 2 rooms the entire time, and I even checked with the front desk to ensure we didn’t need to mo…

Food was underwhelming, except the seafood. But everything else was great! Only other thing was we paid for a King Size bed but didn’t get it until halfway through our trip.

Food at the buffet was okay, but the quality was much better if you made a reservation at the restaurants. The resort made it extremely easy to get around - they will call cabs for you, and make sure you get to the destination you'd like. Additionally, they have packaged tours, such as Chichen Itza Cenote, which help you explore Mexico's hidden gems. The pools, beach, and facilities are clean and maintained. If asked, I would recommend this resort to any of my friends or colleagues.

Terrible food, terrible service. When we complained about our meals being cold, the general manager told us to heat it up. We should not have to heat up our meals at a 5 star resort. Not only was our food cold, many items were expired. We had to ask multiple times a day to get our room cleaned and fresh towels. These things should be automatic service when you pay for a 5 star resort. We booked an excursion through the concierge who confirmed our pickup time the day before. The day of our excursion, we were never picked up. No one could give us an explanation or reason. Our entire day was wasted. These are just a few of the horrible experiences from our trip. We will not be back.

This is the worst Hotel that I ever being, the rooms are really old, a lot of humidity plus the AC never work. I call everyday for that and nothing change. The food is literally garbage, you never will found at lunch or dinner decent meat to eat. The reservation for la carte you have to do it by computer and when we get there Friday all days and all restaurants was full. This was my 3rd time on Mexico because before I was at the Barcelo , bad mistake to change that this time. Only good thing about this was some of the employees. I left my engagement ring at the room and I call right away from my checkout and they told me I need to send and email, for me that was ridiculous. Pictures are not accurate at all, also I have VIP privileges and I didn't receive anything.

Lovely Friendly hardworking staff! Excellent foods! Beautiful grounds... plus excellent entertainment. Ask for YAMILE at the Coba Spa for the best massage! Thank you Oscar, Olivia, Alfredo and Daniel for your sincerity and kindness! My sister and our sons had a blast! Hoping to see you again for an excellent rest and relaxation! Our room is outdated but very clean. They are remodeling other sections now...

Now this review may sound like a very disgruntled customer, and it is. However I wrote a little of this review each day as we experienced “the best” of what Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal has to offer. My hope is that this narrative review saves someone else from making the $9,000 mistake I did in bring my family of 7 here. The best way the describe this place as you pull up is a thin veneer of luxury that is quickly revealed to be covering up a property that has seen better days. First, we arrived at 3:00pm on a Friday afternoon. There were 4 front desk attendants working and only 2 had people waiting behind the ones that they were helping so we figured it would be too bad. A hot and sweaty 50 minutes later we were finally on our way to our rooms after it took them 15 minutes to find a room type that we had reserved and paid for. When we wanted to get dinner reservations for 7, we waited another 40 minutes in line to talk to the ONE concierge that was working for a very large resort. When we went to our sons’ room to get them settled, the roof was leaking and there was a giant puddle in the floor. They had to have known because someone had pulled the bed away from the wall so it wouldn’t get wet. This resort has no concept of customer service. When our son accidentally locked himself out of his room, the floor butler of our building, which is 100 yards from our son’s building, told my wife he was too busy to help her and go to the lobby.
