Location is ok but quite far from the main beach. You need to get a shuttle in order to go to the main station beach. Food will cost you an arm and a leg & it doesnt even taste really good. Staff are not friendly. Their trademark of customer service lacks humanity. It’s all business $! Their receptionists can be snobbish if they dont like what you are complaining about. Rooms are too old & have moldy smell! Who eale ia using widnow type aircon these days just to illustrate how vintage & outdated the hotel is. Theres a lot of people who harrassed you when you go outside the diniwid beach. Next time will get a room between station 1 and 2 where the location is accessible to all with cheaper food & variety of choices. By the way, am still waiting for the refund because I ended up paying twice due to some lame excuse of high handed booking policy :(
We arrived at the hotel about an hour and a half early with all of our luggage and our room wasn’t available for check in yet but the reception staff could not have been lovelier! We were welcomed with cooled essential oil flannels to cool down and a lovely shell necklace each. They then gave us a lovely welcome cocktail each and looked after our luggage until our room was ready. Lovely room, the food at the restaurant was really good, the beach location is ideal and we would definitely stay here again.
The place is nice just infront of the beach. The staff was rude, not customer service oriented, very descriminating and not approachable. They need more training and i suggest you do a spot check or pretend to be a customer so you will find out yourself!
The room has generous space, clean but linens are old. Some of them are stained with markings. The TV is on top of the wardrobe cab which defeats every article in architectural design editions. The furnitures look old, the color and the texture are not congruent to certain design standards & taste. It has a certain moldy smell as if they had been there exposed to archaic era . Even air-conditioning set the hotel is using those old window vintage type!! It cannot be argued as tropical theme as its actually look antiquated. No ledge or enough shelves for our toiletries which my wife is so particular about. You have to place them on the floor😩 It’s literally quite unhygienic :( The hallways are dark & shabby so be careful especially when climbing up the stairs. . Its prone to unnecessary risk. Staff are average, nothing exceptional. Food is good. Going Towards the diniwid beach is a beautiful sunset view But thas also where theres a lot of party and bystanders who harassed you when they know you are a foreigner:(
Stayed at this hotel twice with my husband. The first time was amazing, it was back Sept. 2014, stayed for a week! We loved their clean rooms and the bed is really good. Second time was in June 2017, still amazing! The beach area is really nice too, not crowded and very near to spider house which is a good spot to watch sunset! Loved their free coffee near the lobby and complimentary breakfast is always good!
Thumbs up for this hotel. A proper, nice, clean hotel with friendly staff and a nice restaurant. Free drinking water and coffee for guests, pool and nice beach right in front. The location is beautiful, 1,5 km from station 2 through the beach. It is great to be able to live away from the business of Boracay and go down to the centrum when you please. Lots of restaurant choices from fine dining to more laid-back lunch. Lots of happy hour!
The hotel, a favorite, have been coming here on/off for years either as a group or visit the bar/restaurant. But you can no longer venture out of the hotel. The adjacent area has become over-crowded and congested with a very loud cheesy "bar" that's taken over the beach and the water! You cannot escape the noise. There are shacks/stores, dilapidated buildings, groups of young guys hanging around camping out (cooking, sleeping, yelling, smoking) and bugging tourists to buy tours (seem not reputable) or rent gear. It's too bad Diniwid and Microtel used to be a pristine refuge but now it's an over-crowded mess full of noise pollution anymore. The local constables need to apply no smoking, no dogs, noise level ordinances.
Good old hotel with working AC rooms, nice beach and pool. Internet could be better as it’s quite frustrating to keep having to input whatever code they give you to get online. Breakfast could also be much better as it’s not very varied especially if you are vegetarian. All in all I’d recommend it. They have a shuttle to D’mall also in case you want to go there.
Good value, perfect for a family vacation that is both relaxing and active. Lots of water/beach activites available on site including 2 standup paddleboards. Microtel is on a quiet spot on Diniwid Beach within easy walking distance (5-10min with slippers or walking shoes) to the main beach that Boracay is famous for. The path is easy, scenic, feels safe even at night. We love the long, barefoot walks on the beach particularly at sunset. We like to bring snacks and a sarong/mat so that we can set up a picnic anywhere. On this trip my daughter (age12) and I tried crossing from the main beach to Diniwid beach by paddleboard. We also tried swimming from the main beach to Diniwid beach. Both fun, memorable experiences : )
the only thing could be done better would be to purchase the entire Diniwid beach and transform it to the paradise only Microtel knows how.
