The staff in this hotel are fabulous, they can't do enough to ensure your stay is good. The hotel is clean & tidy, the staff are continually cleaning. The rooms are basic but comfortable, the shower is good. The pool is always clean. The courtesy bus to White beach is every hour & they will make stops on the way to let people on or off. Really enjoyed our stay here, very relaxing
This hotel is very relaxing because of the location which is not crowded unlike the other location.
Food, staff, room, location, ambiance really excellent. Really good for family since we have kids. Safety wise could recommend. Internet too slow connection and 2 person allowed to connect. But in overall quality. Though price of food too high for a local tourist.
What we like more of this Small beautiful and relaxing hotel is the quite location far away from the crazy crowned d mall area is perfect for a great holiday in Boracay.Good room and Kind smiling staff
Compared to the Wyndham hotels in the US and in Manila , you will be unpleasantly surprised with this hotel. It's old and run down. The beach front smelled like canal water --- it was all thick seaweed green and the trash from the other areas washes up here The electricity kept going on and off from 7pm to 1am Not relaxing
Advantages: *excellent housekeeping work! Always clean, new towels everyday. *great front desk staff. Passionate and warm service. *super convenient shuttle bus service! Drivers were caring and nice. * the pool and pool staff. Even the towels were not perfectly clean sometimes;) Disadvantages: * terrible F&B! Small breakfasts and one day they even said 'if you want 3 eggs instead of 2, you have to pay extra 60 pessos'. Service is slow and frequently missing orders. * location. At the end of may beach was full of sea greens with terrible smell even in the rooms! Maybe we were unlucky and during some other season it could be good. *the beach is full of stones. Not safe getting in the water. Swimming in the night would be dangerous. *30 minutes walk by the beach from station 2. Sometimes its a good advantage, but sometimes not really;)
I booked this hotel primarily because they have a pool and I am very satisfied and have no regrets even if it is quite far from D' Mall. The fact that they have free drinking water available via hot/cold water dispensers on every floor is a huge plus for me. The pool area is clean and inviting and the water is warm. The staff extend their utmost help to address your needs, from the free shuttle service to and from D' Mall and providing extras such as towels. They are quick to respond to requests -- my 1-year old accidentally broke one of the drinking glasses in our room and a staff came up to sweep the broken shards of glass less than two minutes after I called room service. Mama's Fish House, which serves their lunch and dinner, is highly recommended. Their food is fresh, flavorful and such a delight to the palate. I was thoroughly impressed by their grilled mahi-mahi, chicken pesto pasta, ratatouille and bagnet which we had for dinner on our first night. Their breakfast menu is just alright, nothing special. I highly suggest that they serve brewed coffee instead of instant. I'm quite particular with my morning coffee and was disappointed that theirs was just "instantly" prepared. It was an added blessing that this part of the island was almost lumot-free compared to Station 2 where most people are. Overall, we had a very good experience and I would definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends.
I usually stay at fancier places than the Microtel, but on this occasion this was the only hotel available in Boracay that our travel reservation system at work would let me book. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was actually pleasantly surprised. I had heard conflicting reports on if this hotel was on the beach or not (the pictures looked like it was) but I wasn’t sure. Turns out it’s just north of Diniwid beach. So while the ocean is right in front of the hotel, you have to walk a minute or two over to find a beach, and that’s Diniwid beach, not the main beach. You probably have a 10 to 15 min walk to hit the top of the main beach in Station 1. I walked one day from the hotel to almost station three in about an hour. I arranged the transfer from Caticlan airport with the hotel. Quite cheap for what you get at $450 PHP. It consists of someone picking up you up the airport, and taking you to the port of Caticlan where you catch a boat across and someone else from Microtel picks you up on the other side and drives you to the hotel. It took about an hour from end to end. Be warned that the Caticlan airport we exited was tiny and looked like about the worst airport I’ve been to. Luckily the departure airport in Caticlan is really nice- cool and with a Starbucks and a couple other small places, but no WiFi unless you have a local cell phone. The boat across the strait was a small open-air pontoon-type boat but it’s only a couple of KM across. The van on the other side is air conditioned but it’s a small windy road to the resort and you’re going through abject poverty the whole time so be prepared. If you’re used to it like I am, it’s fine. The van ends in the middle of a really poor area and you’re sure you’ve been taken for a ride (literally) and then you walk down a poor alley and voilà, the Microtel. The main lobby of the hotel is not air conditioned and it was stifling. My room wasn’t ready until 2 pm (it was 12:30 pm) so I waited out in the breeze by the ocean. But once I checked into the room, things improved. The room is not fancy, but quite nice enough, clean and in good repair. I slept well on the mattress although I found it a bit hard and the AC worked quite well. The shower was very good and the internet was free and okay. Not super fast but it worked consistently, and was also available with a strong signal in the pool area. You can only connect one device at a time though. The pool is a bit small but nice and the staff at the hotel are great. There are those big blue bottles of water on every floor and you can fill up your water bottle from there for free. The best part was the breakfast at Mama’s House restaurant. Since breakfast was included I figured it would be similar to a 2 star hotel breakfast you’d get in Canada – like toast and maybe a yogurt if you’re lucky. But no- it was great! A choice of hot breakfasts from a menu. I had the English breakfast (scrambled egg, bacon, beans, toast, marmalade and coffee) the first morning which was great, and then the Filipino breakfast (scrambled egg, garlic rice and either beef or pork) the next morning. Also great. There are several other options on the menu as well. This hotel is very quiet, being far from the party beach, and the pool and outdoor area closes at 10 pm so you can’t get a drink after that. This was fine with me. No other services like a corner store or anything near the hotel, but they have a free shuttle every hour that takes you to D Mall in about 10-15 minutes where you can eat and buy things. Google D Mall before you go so you know what to expect, because it’s not a North American-type mall. I had been expecting air conditioning and free WiFi. I ate at Aria Italian restaurant on the beach and it was excellent. Good value for the money.
We stayed here last May 5-8, 2017. Upon arrival, security personnel helped us with our luggage. Check-in process took us more than 5 minutes. Staff gave us a complimentary ice-blended tea to ease the heat outside. Room was clean and fresh and crisp linens were present. Down on the towels at the bathroom, it smelled like there's no perfume for fabric and mine got a stain (PRO-tip, please discontinue use of towels and linen if there are signs of wear and tear.) Bathroom amenities are for one person only on our first night(boo!). Food was great at the resto even though it was a concessionaire. Cellular signal on our room downstairs was worst. No signal at all. Wifi is terrible too on our first night. Ice machine wasn't working during our stay. Had to go outside all the way to the bar area right in front of the beach(had to drag some sand inside the hotel) which is a hassle. Overall stay was okay. Some minor flaws which is sometimes acceptable. For improvement: Please invest on signal booster for rooms and discontinue using towels and linens if wear and tear is visible. MUR should only be upon request. Didn't asked for an MUR but got our room cleaned. We usually store our important stuff when requesting for a make-up room.
This is an ideal place for families with children. The pool is warm and good for relaxing. Place is family oriented and is far from the noise. You get the chance to see an awesome view of sunset in front of its shore. Going to the D' Mall is a breeze , just book a ride in their shuttle van. Booking in advance is needed for the ride. Place that is far from the noise and relaxing with children being children.
