Agrigento is pretty cool however I wanted to swim so chose this hotel for its beachside location and ease of arriving at as it is right in front of the San Leon bus line no 3.. It can also be reached from bus no2 ( if you use google maps) and walk a bit. My wife and I had three nights there and used a mixture of the hotel shuttle bus and public transport to get around. Staff were friendly , breakfast was decent and rooms good value for money.
Only stayed one night after visiting Valley of the Temples. We were welcomed by a very keen and friendly young man with good English who ran through a comprehensive list of services and trips to the temples and gave a welcome drink of local speciality wine. Room was clean and airy with balcony and quite comfortable. We walked down to the sea front but found it all rather run down so ate in the hotel restaurant. The food was excellent , in fact probably the nicest meal we had in the whole 3 weeks in Italy.
We arrived late one afternoon and left the next morning. Sometimes a brief stay can test a hotel, but this place delivered. Everything worked efficiently and effectively. It's convenient for the temples and there are a number of nearby restaurants. Check-in was good, English was spoken well. We got a place in the car park, but .i guess it gets full in summer (maybe there is an overflow .. I am not sure). The bar was pleasant and the breakfast well done and speedy. Our room was a garden suite. It wasn't as modern as the ones in the photos show, but it was perfectly acceptable. All in all, it delivered with no weakness, but it was a very short stay.
It was not an obvious place to find as the main sign advertised a restaurant The hotel is formed of 2 buildings The reception area leads to a nice area that is a mini museum Beyond this is the spa The bedrooms are upstairs the rooms are very good and comfortable The breakfast was reasonable - though all a bit packaged - not much fresh fruit etc. We had dinner in the restaurant - the food was excellent - especially the seafood with pasta I tried out the spa - which was pretty big and offered a number of different treatments. Again very good The hotel also organised transport to see the ruins and a pick up and also took us back to see the sites lit up under a bright moon Excellent service The hotel is an easy walk to the sea and restaurants along teh beach
Hotel Costazzurra Museum & Spa is a great place to stay in the South of Sicily.Within walking distance of the sea and the restaurants. Unfortunately the hotel does not have enough parking space when fully booked. Good Italian breakfast buffet and super dinner meals. Not too large but very clean rooms. Helpfull staff.
This hotel was a good find and provided good value. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, from the check-in when they took the time to explain all the things to see in Agrigento to the check-out when they offered us a bottle of wine, even though we had had no issue or no complaint during our stay. It was an unexpected and nice gesture. The hotel was modern, clean and well decorated. We also liked that it was small. I would guess 50 rooms. Our only two complaints were that it was a 10-minute walk to the beach and it wasn't that nice a beach either. And also, the swimming pool was on the other side of the road, which was highly impractical as it is a busy road and Sicilians drive like maniacs. There would have been plenty of room to put the swimming pool next to the reception. But otherwise, we had a good stay there.
This hotel is lovely. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. We stayed. 2 nights and were upgraded to a fantastic room with a terrace and a jacuzzi . The hotel has a great shuttle service to the temples , when you are dropped and picked up according to your schedule . Also the shuttle into Agrigento was also useful . We were dropped right at the top of the town and made our way downwards. My only wish is that they would provide a few later shuttles so we could have gone for dinner in Agrigento one night. There seems to be a problem with taxis getting back and forth to San Leone in the evening. We would have paid extra for a evening hotel transfer for sure. The swimming pool of the hotel is across the road , it is a lovely pool and very well maintained by the wonderful Francesco, who is a force of nature. It's wonderful to go to the Valley of the Temples in the morning and lay by the pool in the afternoon. Only recommendation I would make is that perhaps they could install a buzzer so guests and ring for drinks or snacks. Would be extra revenue for them . Overall a great hotel and I would recommend anyone to stay here instead of Agrigento , which I found a bit grotty.
There was this one cleaner that spoke perfect English was so helpful wit everything able to tell me where the best places where to eat drink and nite life. I dnt think my stay here would of been so pleasant without her help she was always so courteous about cleaning my room and so helpful about everything little thing I needed to know about san leone. Joe made my stay in this hotel the best experience in a hotel that ive had in italy so far. I wish I could of stayed there forever. If you speak English and are staying at this hotel ask for Joe the cleaner to help you with all you need and want to know.
Check-in was fine (note that you cannot drive down to reception and need to park on the road); we were given wi-fi codes that did not work though, for the garden villa; guest parking is at the villa (for everyone in thehotel) - this is a gravel/pebble car park immediately outside the garden villa we had, so you hear cars come and go throughout the evening/night and morning - note that there is no allocated parking so on the Saturday night, parking options there were terrible and many people got parked in!; breakfast was meagre and not re-stocked, so bad luck if you come during the latter part of it; the restaurant offered poor service and average food at best, for prices that were not cheap for Sicily or even Agrigento standards. Oh, and nothing in the room re hotel directory or even which number to call reception on. Overall, not the worst place we have stayed but considering the garden villa's were more expensive than other rooms here, and the alleged four star rating of this hotel, we were less than impressed.
Got bus from Agrigento bus station to just outside the hotel as arrived from Catania via bus - locals really helpful even though they had no English and we had very little Italian. Greeted with a glass of local wine and really friendly staff. Great modern room. Hotel has its own minibus so can take you to the the temples whenever suits you and you just ring back to get them to pick you up whenever you need - well worth the cost. Also they took up to the bus station the following day instead of using a taxi (bus times from outside hotel weren't suitable unfortunately) . Walked into San Leone well worth it lovely local feel and some great bars. Promenade you can walk along but we didn't as had just been to the temples -they are also amazing and really worth a visit. Ate at the hotel restaurant - fab local wine and great pizza. Food was lovely. Breakfast also good. Would stay here again for sure. Only down was bar area very small as forms part of small lobby but can sit outside and most rooms have balconies so could have drinks there instead.
