We stayed here for 10 days for a family reunion, we had a wonderful time, the hotel is gorgeous, the food was excellent, the bedrooms could do with a little TLC but certainly did not put us off and we would definitely return. The staff are truly amazing very polite and seem genuinely interested in their guests and so willing to please.
We recently spent 11 days at the resort to celebrate a family reunion. The location was just perfect - beautiful grounds and two immaculate beaches. We had three rooms between us and while a little “tired” they were more than adequate - quiet and very private. The food was absolutely amazing, both in variety and quality. The icing on the cake was the fantastic staff, who could not do enough for us - and always with a smile and a friendly greeting. In particular, we were impressed with Ionna for her enthusiastic concern for our daily welfare. The restaurants, common areas and the cultural music/dance evenings were all excellent.
Low rise development in very extensive gardens on it's own peninsula with 2 beaches. Rooms are bungalows spread out some with garden & others with sea views. Apparently there are 16 different models some with pools. Very peaceful surrounded by modern scuptures. Restaurant of high standard but food all local produce & cuisine, not at all "internationa". Mainly German & UK guests. Staff very friendly. Drinks& wines pricey. [160 wines on the list] . Rooms very clean but refurbished ones have quirky sinks, glass toilets ,open wardrobes, etc. Expensive but not well thought out. Some returners prefer the older design. Some steps & long walk to restaurant from some rooms so infirm be warned. Long walk 20 mins to Aghios if you are dining out but 2 beach restaurants close by if you want to go out. Gardens immaculately kept.
My wife and I traveled here for just over a week as a part of our honeymoon and had an amazing time. The staff were on top of everything and we had nothing to worry about the entire stay. We were in a Beachfront Superior Bungalow which was right on the far private beach and very quiet. I was traveling as Celiac, having recently been diagnosed and the staff were incredibly helpful. No matter where we ate on the property they would bring me gluten free bread and give menu recommendations that suited me. At the main restaurant in particular Eirini was on top of everything, introducing me to the chefs every night to walk me through all the dishs being prepared, bring me gluten free deserts and pastries etc making the trip very comfortable. Another surprise was the cats on the property who were very friendly. We had certain ones we would see every day and would join us for dinner making it feel just like home. We also spent time at the dive center located next door where they were very helpful in renting us snorkeling gear and guiding us through activities we could do.
We stayed here for five nights in May (I forgot to write a review until now) and would definitely return. It's a beautifully designed hotel with a modern but relaxed ambience, and the staff are incredibly professional and helpful from the moment you arrive. Our sea-facing bungalow was comfortable and spacious, with a verandah where we could enjoy an evening drink. The grounds are beautiful and perfectly maintained, with ample sunbeds and beanbags for loafing around, spaced discreetly around the waterfront so that everyone has enough space. Breakfasts are superb, with lots of traditional Cretan favourites on offer as well as a fine selection of cereals, fruits, and cooked options. We were a little disappointed in the evening buffet meal, though, so only tried it once - the options were a little bland and tired. Overall, though, we had a great time here and it made a fantastic start to our ten day break in wonderful Crete. Thanks!
Absolutely fabulous hotel, very elegant and chic. The grounds are interesting and very well maintained, with a very long frontage to the sea. Even though the hotel was full it never felt remotely crowded. The evening buffet was high quality, arranged beautifully. Just ten minutes walk to Agios Nikolaos. The staff are so lovely, extremely helpful and fun. A really special place.
This is one of those rare hotels where the food and service are so special, so good you never want to eat out. The modern art and sculpture theme works really well to make it an attractive place to stay with lovely cottages and gardens overlooking the sea. Where it really excels is the dining - super breakfast with a great range to start the day, excellent evening meals and the added option of La Bouillabaisse restaurant overlooking the bay. We tried them all and loved the place - would definitely go back again.
Visited ‘‘this hotel for a week. The hotel is very nice and relaxed, so not the place to stay if you are after a party scene. Not sure what it’s like during the high season but in September, this was a very relaxed holiday. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff and the food is wonderful. We did a B&B only basis as we like to go out and about but the meals we did have here were exceptional. We stayed in a junior suite that was a big area and was very clean. My only criticism, would be that the bath with over shower is a bit outdated for what you would expect in a five star hotel. It is also a slip hazard. Would highly recommend
Wonderful hotel, rooms are duplexes/cottages overlooking the bay - perfect for peace and quiet. Ask for sea view. The best part of the property are the lounge chairs with umbrellas overlooking the bay - great for sunsets and sunrises or just laying around and relaxing. Great cottages with all amenities, great breakfasts - just beautiful property and walking distance to town. Only drawback are some mosquitoes but this place is almost perfect.
We did a lot of research and for the best beaches we would have rather stayed around Chania, but for one of the best resort experiences we chose Agios Nikolas because of Minos Beach Art hotel. Firstly, it’s easier to enjoy everything if you have a hire car,and they are not expensive. Walking 15-20 min each way to the town from the hotel gets a bit tiring and instead of waiting for taxis, you can take your car and find easy cheap parking. It will also allow you to explore the great restaurants in Elounda which seem to have the edge on Agios Nikolas. Now for the hotel. The ambiance and decor in the public areas is fantastic. The breakfast area is very relaxing and the buffet extensive and can easily deal with a 7 night stay. Same goes for the evening buffet which changes daily. WiFi is ok across the resort but patchy, they really should do something to boost the signal as guests would value that. The large pool area is lovely and has plenty of beds around it as per the hotel website pics. The pic of the superior seafront bungalows seems to be no’s.63,65,67,69. All of these are in great positions. Assuming they are all fitted out as per 65 which we enjoyed, then these are the ones to go for if your budget affords. They are nicely fitted out, some have commented on lack of design for storage of clothes etc which is true ( could be a bit smarter there) or add more drawers in the lounge under the desk for example. The air conditioning worked well, beds comfortable, pillows a bit too hard ( could invest in some down ones perhaps), shower fine, we never had an issue with the fact that the toilet and shower are through frosted glass doors. Clearly the real treat is sitting on your balcony with a glass of wine of an early evening, or getting out of bed in the morning, walking down a few stairs and diving into crystal clear refreshing water. Of course having reserved sun beds and umbrella right in front of your bungalow is amazing. Of 8 days there we only left our seafront on one day to go to Voulisma beach which is close and very good. You can order drinks and food from the beach bar 100 meters away to your sun beds. Good selection and fair prices given where you are. Service from all the staff at Minos is excellent. They cannot do enough for you. Would definitely be happy to return. A final point- agree with comments by some about the relative condition of other bungalows. Our daughter had no.81 which is in a great position and has a lovely balcony etc but the whole place seemed tired and really could do with an update ( recognizing it is in a lower price bracket than the bungalows63 to 69.) it seems the only negative comments some reviewers have are about the fit out of some of the rooms which is a bit of a pity given how fantastic this place really is.
