I’ll preface the review by saying the room is clean and the staff is good. The breakfast is good for what it is. The road noise is TERRIBLE. Even with a room in the back you cannot escape it. The room temperature control is even more TERRIBLE. Your options are extremely hot and uncomfortably hot. Your only option to slightly cool the room down is to have the bathroom and bedroom windows open, but this comes at the cost of more road noise. To be in Patra in the winter and to have to sleep with the windows open is unheard of, and only to marginally cool the room down. God help anyone here in the summer. Lastly there is some cheap construction in the windows. Our room had water between the glass. I won’t be coming back to this hotel.
My husband and I stayed here at the end of September and again in October and it was just wonderful!!! The staff were so welcoming and friendly whether it was at reception, the lovely ladies organising and setting out the most wonderful breakfast and the cleaning staff! The hotel is very modern and our room was large and so clean! It was so refreshing to have such a modern clean room with so many extras in Patras!!! There were tea and coffee as well as complimentary bottled water! There was a walk-in shower with both hand held and overhead rain shower....no nasty ill fitted curtains to fight with as in other Patras hotels! The room also had an in-room safe and air-conditioning and the hotel also boasts soundproofing so it certainly wasn't noisy like other places we have stayed. The bathroom toiletries were lovely and of course the room was cleaned daily and fresh linen and towels. The best thing for me were the black out curtain blinds!!! You have the normal electrically controlled shutters but the black out curtain blinds definitely blocked any hint of daylight so we had a wonderful sleep. There are also a selection of pillows you can ask for as well as any extras such as shaving kit, sewing kit, vanity set, toothbrush etc. They really think of everything! Even no nasty toilet brush, instead you have the Eastern hygienic shower spray similar to top Dubai hotels. The most impressive thing about this hotel though was the award winning breakfast that they serve!!! Congratulations to those wonderful breakfast ladies....the choice is vast, there is something for everyone. It is all beautifully displayed. They have a variety of tea and coffee as well as juices, cereals, a variety of breads, bread sticks and cakes. There is a large selection of hot foods, including sausage, bacon, eggs, omelette, cheese pies, pizza, mushrooms, as well as cold meats and cheeses, salad, olives, pastries, lots of Greek specialities such as tomato and oregano on bread and beans and yoghurt and honey and a variety of jams. It is buffet style and there really is plenty of everything and always tended so it is clean and refilled. It certainly deserves the award it has! The only problem is the small parking area underground. Sadly if you park on the road you are likely to get a parking ticket which seems very unfair by the police as there are plenty of illegally parked cars nearer the centre for them to ticket! The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk into Patras centre. Thank you Smart for making our stay so memorable, Linda, Vasilis
This was ideal for our preference to be out of the city centre, but still in a convenient location. Modern, comfortable room with choice of AC or window open, something we truly appreciated. Excellent bathroom, except for limited sink area. Outstanding breakfast, with many choices, even gluten-free choices. An excellent hotel for families as well as couples.
We were told on arrival that our room had been given to someone else and that only rooms with 2 single beds were available. This was disappointing as we had booked a month in advance and had told all of our cousins that were going to the wedding in Patras to stay at this hotel.
We booked this hotel knowing it was a 20min walk from the ferry port. We arrived at around 8am also knowing that check in wasn't till 12 noon. Lia, on reception told us if we go for a coffee she would have a room ready by 10am. Absolutely perfect. Later Dimitri on Reception booked our transfer to Athens for us. The staff have been exceptional throughout our stay. A real gem of a hotel.
When in Patra, always stay at this great postmodern hotel. 15 minutes walk from city center, located on the seaside close to the new port. Clean rooms, good service and breakfast, anemities for travelers. Parking available for free.
This hotel is great, boutique style with a small bar at the reception. Clean rooms, shower looking a bit grimy but otherwise safe and comfy. Tea making etc. Very noisy from main road and bar on Sat night.
We were blown away from the moment we arrived! The reception was over the top helpful with all our questions, and helped us figure out transportation. The room was so artistic, loved the automatic shade. Very spacious rooms, perfect wifi, plenty of hot water. The best breakfast I have had on my entire trip, Italy's hotels really need to step it up. This place is worth every penny and easy access to port. Already booked my room for my final night. Highly recommended!!
I stayed in this hotel for two nights, 19~21/5/17, the hotel and the room are very clean. The staff are very polite and helpful, all of them make you feel very comfortable. The breakfast is very good , not usual for the same hotel category, or in similar hotels. It is located near the seaside. There is a noise from the road however in the night there was not absolutely any bother at all. The wifi was very good.
Thirty years ago, I stayed in Patras for one night, but it wasn’t a delightful experience. When my partner told me, that he booked a hotel in Patras, my first reaction was, -Oh no, not at that place! Of course, it was in a different part of the city and a different kind of accommodation. When we walked in Airotel Patras Smart Hotel, my first impression (that is always very important) was positive, and it was just getting better and better. The lobby was elegant, the elevator fast and spacious, and our room was a pure delight. From the balcony, we could see the beach, the Greek orthodox cathedral church, the Agios Andreas was only a short stroll away, and with the help of the lady at the front desk, we found a place full of good restaurants also from a very short distance. So the location couldn’t be better. In the room we found plenty of power points, that is a usual problem in hotels, that you want to charge 2-3 devices, and have only one power point. Not in Airotel. There was also a very fancy iron with an ironing board. I nearly felt tempted to iron some cloth, but after I came to my sane mind. In the crystal clean bathroom were plenty of amnities. The free wi-fi provided us with good reception, and the breakfast was something that you should have to avoid if you try to loose weight. Especially the pannacotta was delightful. I hardly could stop myself not to eat more and more. This hotel was the nicest surprise during our holiday in Greece.
