Stayed for two nights due to office work. Overall great service with spacious rooms. Breakfast spread was also really nice. The deli next door is specially helpful. They provide free shuttle from and to the airport.
Had a week there for business purpose and enjoyed the location, the facilities, the services, the swimming pool and the restaurant! The staff was very helpful and protective, giving all kind of advices and giving you good info to visit the town.
Hotel is conveniently and centrally located in the business district of Accra and most will undoubtedly have made a big impression a few decades ago. However, the interiour furnishing of many of the large (lobby/reception) area's is starting to show its age. Maintenance of these area's is still very good though. Rooms are spacious, but lack some of the modern outfits. African artwork which can be found all over the hotel are sometimes stunning and in general a feast for the eye.Stunning outside pool and pool area. Restaurant buffet diner, and breakfast are acceptable, but nothing which makes it really special. I have my sincere questions about the work ethics of the employees. Although, generally very friendly, the work they deliver is not 5 star worthy: Room cleaning service: mediocre to almost bad. Minibar not properly refilled, no new soap, one large towel replaced etc. Fitness area: two employees deem it more important to play with their mobile phones, rather than to replace empty soap in the shower area, or to clean (if necessary) of the some of the heavily used equipment. This area is very well equipped with quality apparatus. Wifi, sometimes disappears, For the money paid, I prefer their next door neighbour: Kempinski...
There were many service related issues- very disappointing considering the rating of the Movenpick. I had scheduled a wake up call at 6:25am with reception the first morning- they called me at 7:15am and only said "this is your wake up call". I then said "the wake up call was for 6:25am" to which they responded hesitantly "yes...we forgot". Not even an apology. My room was also not cleaned that day. I happened to see the manager that evening and he was very kind and wanting to rectify the situation. I told him that it was evening and I needed to work in the room so I did not want it cleaned at that time. He sent a very nice plate of chocolates to my room the next day with an apology. The cleaner repeatedly did not leave a hand towel- I asked multiple times. The room was quite dirty upon my arrival- the light switches were very dirty and there were pieces of old food on the floor in the bathroom under the sink. Even after 3 days of cleaning- those were not removed- after the third day- they were finally gone. The food certainly did not merit the price- I ate at the pool bar, the 1to1bar, the breakfast restaurant, room service, the lobby coffee bar, and the Deli. The 20 cedi (5USD) room service "tray fee" on top of the extreme food prices is just exorbitant. My stay had been incorrectly booked for 5 nights (not at the fault of the hotel) and needed to be extended another 4 nights for a total of 9 nights. When they extended the booking, my room key was deactivated. After returning from a long day of work, I went to my room on the 7th floor and had to return to the desk to reactivate my key card. As they suggested, I did not deactivate the card myself by placing it next to my cell phone. Service at the front desk was frequently delayed- I witnessed a few people extremely upset with the wait time and the service on the days that I had to interact with the front desk. The manager of the pool bar, Prince?, was fantastic. When I asked the concierge to help with a taxi, he was very responsive and quick. Emmanuel- breakfast coffee staff- was lovely and provided good service. Overall, the staff was very pleasant (and of course Ghanaian people are some of the nicest people on earth)! I have stayed at the Labadi Beach Hotel in the past for business and would rate the hotel, food (quality and price), and overall service and experience as significantly higher. I rarely write reviews on Tripadvisor, but this experience seems to warrant a review as there are other options available.
The hotel amenities are top notch, so is the price, very expensive. I like it because it's well managed, rooms are clean and well kept, breakfast is pretty good. What I noticed is that the quality of the buffet dinner is decreasing, so is the service. I do not use the pool but it is really nice. i love the fact that when I check in the room is already cool with AC already functionning, I wish other hotels would do the same
This hotel is 5 star however service for me was not 5 star. They demanded an extra $50.00 for my sister who was in the room which I felt was ridiculous. I was locked out of my room twice after checkout time when my reservation was for 3 nights. Front desk staff was rather matter of fact about the issue. I have my beliefs about why. The shoe shine employee appeared to be the nicest along with the wait staff in the restaurant. The bar...well it took some time for them to take my order. Which I was disturbed because others that did not look like me barely sat in their seats and were served immediately. Once again my beliefs. Pool employee questioned my about how many towels & didnt believe I was a guest after showing my key and giving my room number. I told him a few things very quickly & he gave us the towels. Movenpick has heavy security which I appreciate. I went to lobby to greet my guest and decided to sit in lobby & chat. Subsequently, the police officer happens to walk in & sit right next to him. He is from the area. We had been talking for about 15 mins before the officer arrived so security was aware I knew him. Enjoyed the pool, room & restaurant but staff didn't treat me too well & I'm very CLEAR why. Maybe I will try Kempenski Hotel time.
I would not recommend the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, the food is very mediocre (to low) and the pool is pretty uninviting. Also there is a hotel bar (where you can smoke) which had, how can I put it, "working girls", for foreign businessmen, which was not very chic. I am certainly not the moralistic type, but it wasn't a very aesthetically pleasing sight to behold. Of course the staff was kind, as in most of Ghana. The decor was pretty depressing and soul-less. I'd recommend the Labadi Beach Hotel, a little further out of town but lovely.
This was a splendid hotel, with very nice rooms and common spaces, great service, and wonderful staff. The location is like an oasis, with businesses in the hotel, lots of transportation, and ocean views on the upper floors. The decor throughout the hotel was very nice. The hotel was spotlessly clean. But the food was the best. Variety, taste and presentation were second to non. I was there for about 5 days, and there was an amazing consistency in the food.
The staff were the best always smiling and helpful. From the moment the cab dropped us off we were treated like queens. It's beautiful, close to all the areas we visited, they always had taxis readily available either after dropping off or at the gate. Breakfast had a good variety to choose from. The best place for me was the pool. We were mostly by the pool and headed I to town in the evenings. The rooms are very clean and they pay attention to details. Close to the airport. There is a free airport shuttle every one hour. We almost missed our flight yesterday because the traffic to the airport was very bad so I recommend you leave early especially if it is rush hour. Our driver was helpful, he called some one at the airport who made sure he informed the airline and as soon as we hot There, he met us and got us straight to check in and we made our flight. Please don't hesitate to stay here you will love it.
Traveling all over this is one on the hotel I like the Most as it has a great staff and a good sense of customer services. The is really dedicated to the hotel customer from the front desk Charles and Nana YAA to the restaurant Stephen the best for business trip in Accra. once again thanks
