Before the Flight
If you have any symptoms such as fever, nausea, headache, body pain or difficulty breathing, for your safety avoid your trip.
- Prepare your biosafety kit: face mask, gloves and sanitizing gel -among others.
- Prepare the required documents for your trip. Additionally, and verify if there is any restriction or procedure defined by the government of the country you’re traveling to.
- Keep your carry-on luggage as light as possible, that way you won’t need help to place it in the aircraft’s compartments and you’ll maintain the requested social distancing.
- Carry with you all your personal items like headphones and reading material -among others, in order to reduce on board element’s manipulation and to avoid infection.
- Check-in online and save your boarding pass on your mobile device or print it out at home.
- Arrive to the airport way ahead of schedule, due to the fact that new safety, distancing and health check protocols have been implemented.
At the Airport
For your peace of mind, we have reinforced the cleaning and disinfection processes in all our counters, check-in kiosks and VIP rooms.
- Always use your face mask, it is mandatory from the entrance of the airport until the end of your trip.
- Maintain the minimum social distancing requested by authorities (6 feet).
- All our personnel will be using protective gear like face masks and gloves -among others.
- For your safety, food and beverages available in our VIP lounges will be served in individual packages and reading material won’t be available, to avoid contact.
- Boarding will take place in small groups, always maintaining the required social distancing. You must be aware of your gate’s alerts and only approach the boarding area once your group gets called.
During the Flight
We have implemented new Biosafety measures and now all our aircrafts are disinfected before every flight. Our crew is properly trained to detect any possible COVID-19 alerts and act according to established safety protocols during the flight.
- We want to remind you that you must wear your face mask throughout the whole flight.
- On board announcements will include safety measures (food and disinfection processes -among others) and the requirements you must meet during your flight.
- You can fly trustingly knowing that our aircrafts have HEPA air filters, which capture 99.97% of all air particles and continuously refresh the cabin’s air.
- All our crew will be using face masks, gloves and other personal protection items.
- Due to aeronautical regulations, the crew must also maintain social distancing, which is why they won’t be able to help you place your baggage.
- We will have surface disinfecting wipes at your disposal.
- For your safety, we will simplify our food service and will serve all food and beverages in individual packaging, for whatever flights it may apply.
- We want to recommend that you bring your own entertainment on board because, with the aim of reducing element’s manipulation on board, the Avianca magazine and other reading materials won’t be available.
After the Flight

*$0 Itinerary Change Penalty Terms & Conditions:
The no penalty benefit applies to purchases made until November 30, 2020 from size M fare for routes within Colombia and Ecuador, and for flights between Central America; for the rest of international routes the benefit applies from size XS fare. You can make one (1) change before the date of the original flight without charging a penalty, a fare difference may apply. A penalty will be charged to travelers who do not make the change before the date of the original flight, the penalty will be the one that corresponds to the size purchased during the validity of this benefit. The new trip must be completed before December 31, 2021. Refunds may apply subject to the conditions of the purchased fare. The benefit of no penalty does not apply to travelers who lose the connection due to their responsibility. **Voucher Terms & Conditions:
Applies to all flights programmed to fly between March 4th, 2020, and November 30, 2020, regardless of the purchase date, and includes international and domestic flights (this policy’s deadlines will be revised in relation to how the current circumstances evolve). For Colombia, according to article 17 of decree 482 from March 26th, 2020, it applies also to all reimbursement requests that we will process during the emergency declared by Colombia. The voucher must be redeemed until June 30th, 2021, for the purchase of tickets with a maximum flight date of June 30th, 2021. This voucher can only be used for direct or connecting flights operated by Avianca, TACA, Avianca Ecuador and/or Lacsa; and it can also be used for flights with a shared code with another airline, purchased through Avianca’s channels. The voucher will be issued for the total amount of the unused ticket. The administrative rate can be discounted, depending on the unused ticket’s purchase channel. The voucher isn’t transferable, endorsable, or reimbursed in money. If the person had requested a reimbursement and opts to request a voucher, it will be understood that they withdraw the reimbursement request. The person who still has an open reservation and decides NOT to accept the voucher, may make changes to that reservation on the website. The person who purchased their ticket through a travel agency must contact their travel agent to schedule a new itinerary and/or receive support on any issues regarding the current itinerary. The VOUCHER does not apply for totally or partially redeemed tickets with miles. Tickets purchased with miles will have a deadline of June 30th, 2021, to request itinerary changes which are exempt of penalties; as well as a travel date of as far as June 30th, 2021.
