When you fly to Ushuaia International Airport (USH) you ll be just a few miles away from the southernmost city in the entire world.
While it's a trip for the adventurous traveler, it s once in a lifetime experience. The facilities in this Argentinian town are excellent, as it s very used to tourists, and there's a genuine wildness to the place, which is reflected both in the weather and the landscapes that surround it.
You'll need to bring a variety of clothing to deal with the elements. Even in the height of summer (i.e. December and January), temperatures average between 55 and 60 degrees. The wettest months are April to August - but it can, and will, rain at any time.
As long as you're properly prepared, however, visiting the wild beauty of the Tierra del Fuego National Park, and taking a boat trip on the Beagle Channel, once traversed by Charles Darwin, will be a real thrill for nature lovers.
You really do feel like you're at the end of the world in Ushuaia, which makes a pre-dinner drink at the very cozy Dublin Pub in town all the more welcome. There's a feeling of camaraderie amongst those who make it down here that makes it a very friendly place to spend a week - or longer.
