Fly to Tri-Cities Regional Airport

Tri-Cities serves business and leisure visitors to north-eastern Tennessee and is named for Kingsport, Johnson City and the twin cities of Bristol TN/Bristol VA. The airport itself is centrally located near Blountville, a historic stagecoach rest point for west-bound travelers. Today, the local trails and Appalachian scenery keep the visitors coming.

Novice cavers are welcomed at Appalachian Caverns Tours, where experienced guides will talk you through underground limestone galleries, featuring ancient stalactites and stalagmites.

Bristol is known as the Birthplace of Country Music, and is also home to a NASCAR circuit. Kingsport is a thriving town with some good nightlife, including the Shack, a BBQ spot on Fort Henry Drive that hosts live music and DJ's. Johnson City is home to the Little Chicago Blues Festival each spring. All three towns make a good base for exploring the Cherokee National Forest to the south.

Getting around

Once your flight arrives at Tri-Cities Airport (TRI) you can make your way into Bristol. Visitors can choose between car rental, taxis, buses, limousine, or shuttle services when exiting the airport.

Hints and tips

Blountville itself is a good base for both wine tours and trips to the Appalachian Caverns. Countryside Vineyards, on Henry Harr Road, produces both well-known wines including Chardonnay as well as more experimental types - blackberry, for example.

Flights Review

Feb 28, 2020

Allsome job to the the person that checked me onto the plane, the pilot, and flight attendant. The flight was smooth and the flight attendant was helpful. Thanks!

Feb 20, 2020

The staff for all phases of the flight were active service facilitators often going beyond what I expected.

Jan 12, 2020

The online check-in was wrong. At 10:30 the night before my flight I paniced because they wanted me to confirm flying out of Bristol instead of Asheville. Orbitz was able to confirm my flight out of Asheville. So online check in should be updated when a flight change is made.

Jan 1, 2020

My knees were crammed into the seat in front of me, especially when the person leaned their seat back. Please do away with reclining seats.

Oct 25, 2019

I like the friendly flight attendant.

Sep 27, 2019

FYI I don’t use WiFi or entertainment so maybe there should be a N/A option in your survey.

Sep 11, 2019

I was shown terminal b on my boarding pass to Kansas City but it was changed to terminal a without getting a message . The monitors did not show my flight where I looked so it was very exhausting. I will take my blame for not checking with staff when I landed from Tri-Cities. Please tell me by text if there’s a change. I also would have liked to choose my seat at check in but it worked our wonderful!!

Sep 5, 2019

Left on time. Arrived 20 minutes early.

Jul 12, 2019

So far a great experience

Jun 3, 2019

One negative. I had a very tight connection, time wise, in Charlotte., 35 minutes. We landed in plenty of time but ended up with a very slow trip to the gate. I then had 15 minutes to get from concourse E to C. I asked the flight attendant if a gate agent could call ahead and let them know I might be late. I spoke to the gate agent who thought I could " make it" even tho I told him I could not walk fast. I rushed, walking as fast as I could arriving at the gate, breathless, as boarding sections were called. I wish the gate agent had offered some help.

Dec 17, 2018

Baggage fees are too high. No smoking area in airport. You can find places to drink alcohol but smokers need accomadation as well. I don't want to get drunk, I want a ciggie.

Nov 14, 2018

I can't believe how small the seat was. As someone who had a blood clot in my leg after a long flight, I feel that the airlines should be required to consider health and safety over profits.
