Each of the three US Virgin Islands has their own character, and ferry services run regularly between them. On Saint Thomas, where you land, Magen's Bay is the happening place to be, with beautiful views and a mile of white sand.
Visit the island of Saint John to experience the stunning Virgin Islands National Park; as well as some incredible beaches, you'll also find a fascinating visitor center in Cruz Bay, and an archaeology center in Cinnamon Bay.
Saint Croix, the largest island, can be reached by ferry, or by a flight from St Thomas. Christiansted National Historic Site offers a glimpse into Danish colonialism, with well-preserved architecture. You can also enjoy underwater snorkelling trails around the Buck Island Reef National Monument.
If you're visiting the US Virgin Islands, you're likely to fly into Cyril E. King Airport (STT), which is on the island of Saint Thomas. From the airport, taxi is the best option into either Charlotte Amalie, where most of the stores are, or Red Hook, where the best nightlife and restaurants lie. From there you can easily catch a ferry to Saint John.
If you have kids, head to Coki beach, where children can learn to snorkel in safety, and feed the fish in shallow waters.
