There are plenty of reasons why people might want to catch a flight to Lihue Airport (LIH) and visit Kauai. This incredibly beautiful island has a good deal to offer including a number of annual events such as the Kauai Polynesian Festival, that takes place during Memorial Weekend in late May every year.
The festival features live performances, food events, craft sales and dance competitions, and also leaves visitors educated, regarding the Polynesian way of life and the general culture of the island.
At the start of October each year is the annual Coconut Festival, which celebrates the humble coconut with coconut pie eating competitions, a coconut milk bar, as well as coconut cooking demonstrations.
