Fly to King Abdulaziz International Airport

When you fly to King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) you ll be just 12 miles from the city center of Jeddah.

To get into the city center from JED, you can either choose to take a taxi - but make sure that you pre-agree the price before you get in or you can book a limousine, as they are widely available to travelers and affordable too. For public transport options, buses are available to Jeddah and Mecca from the airport too.

Jeddah is Saudi Arabia s second largest city and it s also the largest port on the Red Sea. Jeddah is known for its shopping and restaurants, and for the beach resorts just north of the city. It is also the main port of entry for pilgrims making their way to Medina and Mecca.

Things to do

Jeddah offers excellent scuba diving and snorkeling in the Red Sea which is a major tourist draw. The city also has a water park, two amusement parks and a number of excellent shopping malls.

The Old Town is full of traditional market souqs and aged buildings, and the traditional dish to try is shawarma, which an absolutely delicious dish of grilled meat and pita bread with humus, a chickpea dip.
