There are plenty of world-renowned sights to see when you fly to Inverness Airport (INV). Visitors can tour giant cathedrals, vast parks and ancient castles during a visit to the historic city of Inverness. The River Ness passes through the city, and its cobblestone banks are a great place to go and relax for the day. Off the coast of the city, you can catch a boat ride to the Ness Islands to spend some time exploring the quaint old-fashioned houses and the unique island landscape.
The two famous castles in Inverness are the Urquhart and Cawdor castles. Urquhart castle is set right on the coast of the town and features a giant surrounding stronghold. This castle was home to the royal family and saw many battles over a period of nearly 500 years. Pay a visit to the Cawdor Castle and enjoy a stroll amid the incredible surrounding gardens. Here, you can go fishing, play golf and attend one of the regularly hosted events. The Ness Islands are across the river from Bught Park and are accessible by Victorian stone bridges. On the islands, see the War Memorial as well as an artistic Inverness map painted along the riverbanks.
