When you fly to Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport (HAH), you can appreciate the storied history of the Union of Comoros' capital city, Moroni.

Moroni is set in a maritime tropical environment, situated near one of the largest active volcanoes in the world, Mount Karthala. People come to Moroni to witness the generally unchanged historic parts of the city and hike the nearly 8,000-foot-tall mountain.

Moroni is home to many historic sites, including the ruins of the 15th-century Sultan's Fort and Palace. The historic city center remains from Moroni's time as one of the Swahili city-states, and buildings from the 10th century still standing tall within the city.
