Dothan sits in the middle of "Wiregrass Country," a region that includes southern Georgia, southern Alabama and Florida's panhandle. Visitors come for commerce and a taste of Southern hospitality. On your next vacation, you can fly to Dothan Regional Airport (DHN) and experience this singular region.
Most of Dothan's hotels and dining establishments rest along Ross Clark Circle, which forms a ring around the city. All over Dothan, look for peanut sculptures painted in a variety of designs, many of them humorous. On East Troy Street, you will find a granite marker designating a median as the Smallest City Block in the World . However, the city's residents are serious about history. Downtown, you can discover the George Washington Carver Interpretive Museum. This museum's exhibits relate the important contributions African Americans have made to the United States. Nearby, you can contemplate the touring artistic works displayed at the Wiregrass Museum of Art.
After you fly to Dothan Regional Airport (DHN), you will be able to pick up your luggage and rent a car just steps from Denton Road, which will get you into town in about 20 minutes. You can also opt for a local cab. Wiregrass Transit Authority offers bus routes throughout Dothan. Every November, Dothan hosts the National Peanut Festival, which features concerts, exhibits and plenty of legumes.
