Fly to Ingeniero Aeronautico Ambrosio L.V. Taravella International Airport

If you fly to Ingeniero Aeronautico Ambrosio L.V. Taravella International Airport (COR), you'll be getting more than just an airport with a big name; you ll be introduced to Cordoba, Argentina's second-largest city and a hotbed of cultural activity.

City Attractions

With seven universities in the vicinity and a student population of 10%, there is a definite youthful vibe to the city.

That being said, Cordoba still hearkens to the past with 17th and 18th-century Jesuit architecture looming over the city's core. Much of the striking architecture can be found in and near the centrally-located Plaza San Martin.

There, you'll find sights like the Cabildo, the former colonial government building, and the city's primary Cathedral on which construction started in 1577.

The Plaza features a bounty of pedestrian streets along with numerous museums and the famed Jesuit Block dedicated to the architecture and culture of the religious movement.

If you're looking for something that s a little more contemporary, head south down Independencia Avenue to the Paseo del Buen Pastor. This performance and art space is home to cafes, bars, and even a former chapel that now acts as a concert venue.

Hints and Tips

To get to the city center, you'll probably need to take a 9-mile taxi ride. Even so, you may want to invest in a rental car to see the Che Guevara Museum in nearby Alta Garcia or the many Jesuit estancias on the outskirts of town.

If you're adventurous, try paragliding in another nearby town, La Cumbre.
