Recommendation for the Rose and Crown Hotel, Wisbech I wholeheartedly recommend the Rose and Crown Hotel in Wisbech a charming and atmospheric retreat that blends centuries of history with modern hospitality. Having stayed there on many occasions, I can attest to its consistent warmth, character, and comfort. Dating back over 400 years, the Rose and Crown stands as a proud witness to the evolution of Wisbech. Originally a coaching inn during the market town’s bustling Georgian and Victorian eras, it has hosted merchants, travelers, and townsfolk alike. Through the centuries, it has remained a central fixture — not just architecturally, but in spirit — quietly adapting while preserving its historic soul. Today, it continues that legacy with tastefully maintained period features, excellent service, and a cozy yet elegant atmosphere. Whether it’s the timbered rooms, the inviting bar, or the friendly staff who always remember returning guests, the Rose and Crown offers something truly special. Ok value hotel if you are staying 1 night

Good price for a 1 night stay. Friendly host told us about the car park and the fact there was no breakfast which we knew. Hotel was a little run down but our room was clean enough , quite large and had a good view. Tea and coffee and toiletries provided a nice touch. The bed although clean was a little weird as it sloped backwards and had a dent in the mattress. Not too comfy to sleep in as my feet were higher than my head and if i stayed here again i ask for a new room due to the bed not being fit for purpose. I had to sleep upside down in the hope of getting to sleep. It needed replacing. I checked other reviews to see if anyone else had had the same experience. Other reviews were mixed. Would stay here again if i needed somewhere for 1 night but would hope for a better bed.

DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL !!!!!!!! this is just a doss house and should not be on any website. Was told by staff that the new owners due to there religion and believes they do not serve alcohol or food in the hotel. It is so run down, Used to be used for immigrants just a money maker for the owners.

This place is amazing!

This hotel is amazing. I booked 4 rooms for a touring band. I was slightly worried about some of the negative reviews, but the place was great. It does need some attention, but it's an historic building - 400 years old! The stairs are crazy, like something from a funhouse! The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Mario, the manager is awesome. Friendly, chatty and accommodating. There's no bar and no food, but it's in the centre of Wisbech, and there are plenty of food and drinks options in town. We took a band picture with Mario, but for some reason I can't upload it here.

Extremely unprofessional service. I was disturbed multiple times during my stay and treated disrespectfully when raising concerns. Completely unacceptable behaviour!!!

Filthy

The room was filthy. My partner and I returned the keys and went somewhere else. Do not be deceived by the pictures. It was a non-refundable booking, but I paid for insurance. The receptionist said was two star, but there is no excuse for a filthy bathroom and filthy window sills. We did not stay because we suspected we would be eaten alive by all manner of bugs overnight. Avoid this place, it’s shocking.
