The Penthouse apartment were just right for us and gave a great view of the pool and beyond. The urban pool was fantastic as was the breakfast plan we purchased. I would suggest that someone rake the sand and organize the lounge chairs to each night to give a neater appearance. The bar staff is friendly but needs to be more attentive to the customers. Sometimes they would be on their phones & would often say about an advertised happy hour menu "we don't have that drink today". When Shalini was there she was able to keep them in line and they worked harder. Shalini gets 5 stars from us as the top staff member we interacted with. Rooms weren't cleaned at a consistent time, often happening late afternnoon when we needed to shower. Hiring more housekeeping staff would help.
The Ritz Hotel is in a great location for walking to Willemstad downtown area where there are many restaurants, bars, and shopping.You can easily get by without renting a car. 24-7 Taxi has reasonable prices and can be booked hours and days ahead of time. We booked a couple of tours that picked us up right in front of the hotel. I would highly recommend the Complete Island Tour...very informative! Every day we walked across the small bridges to Punda area and also across the Swinging Bridge to Otrobanda. Colourful buildings & murals to see! Even with the small criticisms, the Ritz a very nice hotel and was perfect for us.
