Emampingeni Lodge
1/5 Terrible
"Honestly, the his place is so dirty, it’s unbelievable. The furniture is substandard and the TV doesn’t have basic channels like CNN. "

Umzimvubu Retreat Guest House
1/5 Terrible
"In November 2023 I booked a single night for two people here for 25 June 2024 on Expedia. I received an email from Expedia saying “Your reservation is confirmed. No need to call to reconfirm” and payment was taken from my credit card. This was part of a three-week tour from Cape Town to Durban.
On 13 June 2024 I received a message from the accommodation, via Expedia, saying “Kindly note that we have no availability for the date originally booked” and that they had outsourced accommodation. Despite me asking for a reason no explanation was given as to why accommodation was confirmed 6 months earlier but suddenly no longer was.
By this time we were already in South Africa and it was far too late to change our plans so we had no option but to accept the alternative accommodation they had arranged. It was quite different to what we had booked, a ‘holiday camp’ – Cremorne Estate. I have been booking accommodation via the main hotel booking websites for over 20 years and this has never happened to me before. A thoroughly unsatisfactory experience.
