Great little place and town
Marie was such a friendly host and the walk around the little town with her when we arrived was the perfect way to start our 5 night stay there. The place is a good mix of old town charm and modern convenience. Little coffee shop was open early to get coffee and the country roads were a great place to go for a run in the morning. We drove to the coast and took the train to Cinque Terra to explore. It was a good base away from the crowds but close enough to get everywhere. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful stay in Vicopisano
I have wanted to stay at Casa Colomba for 2 years! My dream came true and it did not disappoint. Marie and Lorenzo are wonderful hosts. She is there to give you wonderful suggestions and to help book your excursions. The accommodations were great. The town is right out of the history books. We plan on returning again.

Charming place, but many steps & hot in August
Marie is a force of nature and a natural host. We had the apartment under the roof, ~30 steps and the buzzer for ground-floor door was broken. In August, it gets hot and you need to close windows because of mosquitoes (which also attacked in garden). Place must be wonderful in spring or autumn.

Perfect Location
We had such a lovely stay in Vicopisano! Marie and Lorenzo have put together tons of information about where to go and what to do in the area. We had the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. The apartment was wonderful and looks exactly like the pictures. It was the perfect location for our excursions around Tuscany. We rented a car out of Florence and found the driving in the area to be very easy. We wish we could have stayed longer and cannot wait to be back!

A unique place in a great location
It's not everyday that I get to stay at a property like this, which made for a memorable experience. Vicopisano is a lovely little town that has just enough going on for the times that you want to stay local, but is perfectly located for day trips in the Tuscan region when you want to explore.

Amazing Tuscany Vacation Spot
Staying in Casa Colomba was the highlight of our first visit to Italy. The apartment location was perfect for walking around in Vicopisano as well as for traveling to nearby Pisa and Lucca. But what made this stay perfect was the attention and care given to us by Marie. She was always available if we needed anything at all. She knows so much about the local life and helped us with extra side trips. Her suggestions were always "spot-on". Marie: You made our stay one to remember always. We will definitely return to Tuscany! Thank you.

Home Base to all of Tuscany
Spent 4 nights at Casa Colomba, couldn't have ask for a better host in Marie or a better location in Vicopisano for visiting the varied and beautiful Tuscan communities. Pisa, Lucca, Cinque Terre, Volterra all unique and exquisite in their own ways. Don't miss time in Vicopisano itself. The restaurants are great, wonderful bakery, and the weekend tower tour is worth the effort to look down on the town and miles into the rolling countryside. This place is everything you are building up Tuscany to be in your mind , don't miss it.

Wonderful flat and hosts
We absolutely loved this flat. The town is charming and just what we wanted for our vacation. Our children loved it as well. We ventured to Florence (a one hour drive), Pisa ( a 35 minute drive) and Lucca -at Marie's suggestion (also a 35 minute drive). We absolutely loved Pisa and Lucca. Florence was beautiful, but not the experience we were looking for. We much preferred Tuscany. We will be back. Thank you Marie and Lorenzo!

Long weekend in Vicopisano
Amazing apartment with a lovely Tuscan vibe. Marie and Lorenzo were so welcoming and ready to help with any question or request we had. The town itself is gorgeous and perfect if you're looking for a hidden gem tucked away in the Italian mountains. Incredibly affordable and really easy to get to via public transport, ideal for mid twenties city dwellers looking for a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of life in the big smoke.

Truly Authentic Tuscany!
Marie and Lorenzo have created a space that provides a wonderful immersion into the Tuscan lifestyle! My daughters and I spent 4 days here in mid-March and truly wish we had more time - we will be back! Casa Columba is beautifully restored, right down to a lovely fresco in the kitchen. The village of Vicopisano is rich in history and Tuscan culture - it is great to be able to walk to dinner after a long day of sightseeing. Plus, if you have a car, it is easy to see all of the highlights of the area such as Luca, Pisa, and the Cinque Terre. Florence is a one-hour train ride away. Marie can also arrange some amazing local experiences. Our favorite part of the trip was the tour of the olive groves and mill - be sure to include it in your plans.
Marie and Lorenzo have compiled lots of resources and travel info for the area and they can help with all of your plans. Their “concierge” service in terms of dinner reservations and tour plans rivals that of any 5 star hotel I have stayed at! A stay at Casa Columba is sure to be something you will always cherish both for the beautiful restoration and the warm and welcoming hosts!

Delightful renovated historic property in real Tuscany
The property was a gem. From the website photos it looked great, reality was much better as it was bigger than expected, you got great atmosphere and its location in the heart of a peaceful historic Tuscan village was as authentic as you could hope for. We were there mid winter for 10 nights and the heating was more than adequate and the beds so comfortable and warm. Everything needed for self catering holiday was there, including nearby markets, however village and surrounds had several great dining places should you wish.
Our 21 yr old son decided to stay with us for the duration. It is only one bedroom and the sun room with beds was a bit chilly for winter sleeping so he used the double fold out sofa in the lounge room which opened/closed very easily and proved very suitable and no hassle at all. The apartment is up 30 odd steep steps - not a problem but if you have some mobility issues then you would need to think about this carefully.
As stated in information, a guest carpark is located about 100m from front door. This is used by residents and is quite handy and certainly safe. For proper exploration of the area you do need a car. Florence is a 10 min drive to Pontedere station and an easy 45 minute train ride; don;t drive. Pisa and Lucca are both a 20 minute drive and in winter we parked very close to the sites we wanted to see. Other recommended sights - San Gimignano, Volterra, Vinci - are a very easy drive and winter crowds were very few making Jan/Feb a fantastic time for crowdless sightseeing and easy parking. Cannot stress enough the value of a GPS in your car for getting around the myriad of roads.
Marie and Lorenzo were delightful and helpful hosts and for those who do not speak Italian then these english speaking hosts are perfect.
I cannot stress enough how wonderful the overall apartment and hosts made this wish for an authentic historic Tuscan holiday. If you want wide open spaces and wineries at your doorstep then this is not for you. If you want delightful, cosy, renovated 12th century accomodation in the heart of a 12th century village then don't look any further.

Charming Tower Apartment With Best Hosts Ever!
We spent four days at Casa Colomba and we had the best time! The village is very cute, not touristy at all, and has some great restaurant choices. It's a great location as a starting point to visit surrounding cities if you have access to a vehicle. We took the train to Florence one day and spent the day there.
Marie and Lorenzo could not have been more accommodating. They set up several experiences for us in advance - including a cooking class which we did in the bottom floor apartment of their beautiful remodeled home, and a half day wine tour. They were so hospitable and very responsive whenever we had any questions. They also set up dinner reservations for us multiple nights. They made our time in Tuscany so enjoyable and I would highly recommend their apartment to anyone.

Welcoming, comfortable and thoroughly recommended
We stayed in the medieval tower for the first two weeks in August and loved it. Totally authentic and rustic but it had everything we needed and the fantastic big bed was firm and very comfortable at the end of each day.
The hosts, Marie and Lorenzo, were the best we have ever known, they made us so very welcome and on hand for anything needed. They provided descriptive books on everything from Casa Columba to the local area and attractions.
Unfortunately my husband was quite ill and spent 5 days in hospital and Marie and Lorenzo were life savers and we couldn’t thank them enough for their help and suppprt.
We now consider them to be friends and will be back before we/they know it! We would recommend this wonderful apartment to anyone wanting to sample the sites and delights of this wonderful part of Tuscany.

Fantastic and authentic Tuscany home
My husband and I were very pleased with the accommodation in Vicopisano. The photos are very accurate. Marie and Lorenzo couldn’t have been better hosts. When we arrived late in the evening Marie and Lorenzo had Prosecco, meat and cheese and bread for us. We were starving and it was perfect. We signed up for a wine tour and a cooking class. Both events were top notch and fantastic experiences. Both Marie and Lorenzo speak English which was helpful to us since neither of us speak Italian. I loved the village as well. It was lovely to walk down to the market and buy cappuccinos for one euro. On Saturday they had an amazing farmers market and music in the evening in the Piazza. My husband and I also found a wonderful trail to run on. Air conditioning is a rare commodity in Italy and of course our accommodation was not air-conditioned. It was a particularly hot and humid week and so it was slightly uncomfortable in the evenings even though they had plenty of fans for us to use. The space was wonderful but the bed was a little too hard for our liking. We really enjoyed the overall experience and when we return to Tuscany we will definitely ask to be a part of Marie’ and Lorenzo’s excursions.

An authentice Tuscan experience!
Staying at Casa Columba was like stepping back in time with all the modern conveniences. Our hosts, Marie and Lorenzo were very friendly and welcoming and provided helpful information of what to do and see. The house was furnished beautifully and the welcome basket was so nice after a long day of travel. I would highly recommend staying in this intriguing and unique 12th Century Tower... you'll definitely get a true Tuscan Experience!!

Exquisite, authentic, memorable with excellent hosts!
My husband and I visited Casa Colomba, in Vicopisano, Tuscany, in April 2018 on our first visit to Tuscany. Casa Colomba was perfect. It truly is an authentic experience. The stone walls, wooden beams, quaint kitchen, and relaxing loggia were beautiful. It was very spacious inside, with a large living area, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and loggia. The town itself was very special, and we enjoyed walking the streets and pathways around the village. We felt as if we were the only tourists there! Marie and Lorenzo were delightful hosts, there when we needed something but not intrusive at all. There were restaurants, a market, and bars within walking distance. If you are looking for a stay in authentic Tuscany you cannot go wrong with Casa Colomba!

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!!!!
We had the pleasure of spending 5 days in Vicopisano in the comfort and concenience of a lovely home while experiencing amazing warmth and unending support from our hosts Marie & Lorenzo. Before we even arrived, we loved what we saw from pictures and the extensive information we were provided. Marie was always quick to respond to any question we had before & during our stay. She provided us with very helpful information & suggestions which let us know all about Vicopisano and other locations/events we might want to explore. Our hosts went out their way to make our arrival convenient and exciting. Throughout our stay they made reservations for us as needed (e.g. Taxi, rental car, dinner...even a haircut), always making sure we were well taken care of. Their recommendations of places to go, where to eat, and things to see were perfect. Their home was spacious, rustically beautiful, and had everything we needed to make us feel welcome, comfortable, and right at home. Casa Columba in Vicopisano is absolutely a place we would love to return to. Because of the comforts they provided, and it's convenient location, we would extend our stay and make it our homebase from which to visit other places. We can't thank Marie and Lorenzo enough for making our 'dream trip' a reality. It was even more than we could have hoped for. The pride they have in their home and the joy they get in sharing it with others is evident in all they do. We arrived feeling like fortunate visitors who had discovered a lovely home with attentive hosts...we left feeling like friends. Thank you. We hope to see you again!!!

The Most Idyllic Italian Village Getaway Imaginable
Do not miss the chance to stay in this most idyllic, picturesque and dream-like village town and Marie and Lorenzo's incredible tower home! The photos are completely true to their form upon arrival!
I made the booking for my honeymoon based on how absolutely beautiful it looked and we could not have loved it any more! Vicopisano is the sweetest little Italian village and we loved it far more than Pisa and Florence for it's local and authentic feel. We had a car (highly suggested) so we could tour around (highly recommend La Spinetta Winery Tour!), but we loved coming back to Vicopisano and the tower home.
The apartment is simply unbelievably beautiful, and and top of that, you get the BEST VRBO hosts possible! Marie and Lorenzo have the gift of hospitality and love to share it with their clients. Marie sends everything you need to know well in advance so you can plan your travel arrangements and any adventures you'd like to schedule for your time there; cooking classes, winery tours, the best local restaurants - and her recommendations are SPOT on!
With this booking, you fall in love with the place you're staying and the sweet village it's tucked away in; you'll be living in a dream of comfort and style in this incredible apartment; you'll have the best hosts to ensure your stay is magical; and it will be high on your list of your best travel experiences. Book it!!

A real pearl
Coming to Vicopisano was a real gift, and a great find. The apartment is absolutely beautiful, spacious, comfortable, and with all the amenities - including a wonderful and much appreciated welcome basket! Marie and Lorenzo go out of their way and are warm and generous hosts. They provide such a great connection with the community and history of Vicopisano by offering opportunities for touring sites and working farms, arranging reservations at local restaurants, offering suggestions for day trips, etc. (It was a great base for day trips.) The village of Vicopisano is so relaxing and beautiful in character. Marie and Lorenzo's love for it and its everyday life is so inviting. We stayed six nights and will definitely return! We are already thinking about a next time, and gathering friends and family there as well...This place is wonderful. Thank you so much, Marie and Lorenzo!

Lovely location for a quiet getaway
If you are looking for a quiet base to explore Tuscany, you should definitely check out Marie and Lorenzo's beautifully refurbished tower apt. In Vicopisano. We recently enjoyed 6 nights there - the apartment had everything we needed and was just as pictured. Marie and Lorenzo are the perfect hosts - very responsive, personable and eager to share their love of the Italian lifestyle! They were both very helpful in arranging transportation and activities to make the most of our stay. We loved our pasta making class with Chef Olimpia. If you are lucky enough to time your visit during Vicopisano' annual Medieval festival, you are in for a real treat! Thank you Marie and Lorenzo for your hospitality and kindness during our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in your apartment!
