One of the Most Magical Weeks of Our Lives!

We rented all 3 of the properties within this beautiful building to accommodate 9 people (my brother's family and my own). Words cannot do justice to this property! So much care has been taken in preserving the beautiful stone and woodwork of the building, while special attention has been paid to expertly furnishing and modernizing the living spaces. The kitchens are gorgeous! Each kitchen is fully furnished and has every appliance we could have wished for. The bathrooms are modern and lovely. Each apartment has its own washer/dryer unit. The bedrooms are charming, with comfortable beds and pillows. The shared spaces are classy, soothing and peaceful. The attention to detail is inspiring! We stayed over the week of Christmas. Each apartment had a beautifully lit and decorated tree. Local decorations added to the beauty of each room. Having rented many VRBO properties, I can honestly say none has compared to this one in either class or comfort. In fact, if it weren't for how charmed we were by the property owner Mr. Neff, and our desire to see him succeed, I would secretly guard my knowledge of this magical property so my family and I could be sure it would be free anytime we wished to return in the future! :) The property owner, Mr Neff, was the perfect host! We arrived to gifts of local wine and patisseries. The property has many helpful local guidebooks in English and French, and wonderful French literature. Mr. Neff met us and showed us around the apartments and explained their amenities. He could not have been more kind or welcoming! He left us his contact information in case we needed anything or had any questions. He reached out to us to be sure we were enjoying our stay. His love for the village and the property were contagious! In terms of an area to be visited, Alsace far exceeded our expectations. The wine villages are like something out of a fairytale. Colmar and Strasbourg are unforgettable. The Christmas markets were truly magical (we had read a great deal about many of them before coming. They were all fabulous, but the Strasbourg markets were our favorite). We traveled into Germany with total ease. If we had had more time we would have loved to have gone to Switzerland which is also easily accessible from where we stayed. We left with our foremost desire being to return! We want to come back in the fall to hike and ride bikes through the villages. We want to come back in every season!

Charming

We had a very pleasant week in Turckheim at the watchman cottage which was very comfortable and well laid out. It was a perfect base to explore Alsace, Turckheim is a cute village with lots of walks directly from the village through the woods and vines and easy distances from beautiful Colmar and the other villages on the wine route. The Caveau du Forge in the village was a really lovely restaurant and there were several others which we did not try. Boulangerie de Brand, a few doors down does delicious croissants and patisserie so you eat your breakfast at the table by the window in the cottage overlooking the medieval village rooves!. Gregory Neff was a very helpful and friendly host and all was good!

EXCELLENTLY base for visiting Alsace!!!

VERY Happy with our week in Turckheim! The apartment is a great memory of staying in a Medieval wine village in a house that is centuries old but VERY recently renovated! The town of Turckheim is far enough away from the main road that it is extremely peaceful, yet it is only ten minutes from Colmar and twenty minutes from the busy tourist towns of Ribeauville and Riquewihr (SOME tourists come here but not so many that they are a nuisance!). Two warnings as you search for a place to stay - for Americans visiting Alsace, just remember that European bathrooms are smaller than what we are used to. The facilities are modern and very good, it is just smaller (you will have this "problem" almost anywhere in Europe - it's just the way it is!). The second is that if you are a "large" person, you might want to continue your search. I am 6'5" and 255 lbs (1.95 m and 116 kg) and found the steep stairs to be a bit tight (could make it but had to be VERY careful) and the shower was VERY cozy (as in if you dropped the soap it was very difficult to bend down to pick it up!). But having said that - would we stay here again or recommend it? Factoring in the price, the location, the histori aspect, and the amenities? YES! Without hesitation!

Had a really fab stay in the Watchman's Apartment. Very clean throughout with a good level of equipment. Right on the route of the Night Watchman, stops just outside and you can watch and listen from the kitchen door. Very close to all local attractions especially the wine route. Turckheim itself is also really nice with a good selection of restaurants and bars to eat and drink at. Would highly recommend not only the apartment, but also the Alsace region...definitely going back. Special mention to Gregory, very prompt to answer any queries and the welcome wine and cake were well received.

Alles Tipptopp sauber, die KĂŒchenausstattung lĂ€sst keine WĂŒnsche ĂŒbrig, man hĂ€tte sogar Kuchen backen können, man fĂŒhlt sich wie zu Hause, alles sehr ansprechend - auch die Umgebung Gregory ist ein supernetter Vermieter mit sehr guten RatschlĂ€gen, die wir gerne beherzigt haben. Wir werden uns bestimmt noch mal dort einnisten 😊

Sehr schön renovierte Wohnung in der alten Stadtmauer von Turckheim. Mit Blick fĂŒr Details und RĂŒcksicht auf das alte GemĂ€uer. Toll gemacht. Vom schmalen Balkon aus konnten wir allabendlich dem NachtwĂ€chter zuschauen & zuhören. Lage der Wohnung ist ebenfalls super, man kann direkt an der Stadtmauer parken (oder aufleinem Parkplatz vor dem Stadtmauer).Empfang war herzlich und wir hatten auch ein kleine Auswahl elsĂ€sser Bier auf dem Esstisch. So geht's ...Die Raumspartreppe eine Etage hoch zu den Schlafzimmern ist eine kleine Herausforderung ... wir sind damit sehr gut klargekommen. Fazit: wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Es war eine sehr schöne Wohnung im 2.Stockwerk vom „Gite Watcher“Sie heißt „Gite Veilleur“ und hat ein Aussengalerie von wo aus man jeden Abend den NachtwĂ€chter sehen und hören kann.Wirklich sehr charmant!!Die Bilder zeigen eine Mischung der Wohnungen deshalb bei Interesse noch einmal den sehr netten Vermieter nach Details fragen.Wir empfehlen dieses Kleinod uneingeschrĂ€nkt weiterman sollte allerdings mit Treppen und AbsĂ€tzen umgehen können.Eine tolle Gegend fĂŒr AusflĂŒge in die Vogesen,den Schwarzwald und die französischen Alpen sowie in die sehr netten Dörfer rundherum.

Die Wihnung ist sehr gut gelegen und hat Charme in der Mauer. Es war alles sauber. Die Treppe in den oberen Bereich ist sehr steil und erfordert Trittsicherheit.

Zeitreise ins Mittelalter

Wir hatten wunderschöne Tage bei bestem Wetter. Turckheim ist ein pittoreskes StĂ€dtchen mit einigen Restaurants und vielen alten FachwerkhĂ€usern. Die Wohnung befindet sich direkt neben einem mittelalterlichen Stadttor in der Stadtmauer. Sie ist hĂŒbsch eingerichtet und hat alles was man braucht. Die Holzbalken und die kleinen Fenster geben einem, genauso wie die Holztreppe, die zur Wohnung hoch fĂŒhrt, das GefĂŒhl ins Mittelalter versetzt zu werden. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen!

Extraordinary appartment in a prime location

Gregory, der Gastgeber, war sehr hilfsbereit (Koffer die Wendeltreppe und die steile Metalltreppe hochschleppen), freundlich und unkompliziert. Vielen Dank Gregory :-). Das Appartment ist einzigartig, sehr schön renoviert - und es hat sehr viele TV-Programme (auch deutsche), zum gemĂŒtlich AbhĂ€ngen. Aufgepasst: das WC ist unten, die beiden Schlafzimmer sind oben - aber so hatten wir unser tĂ€gliches Step-Training :-). Was noch zu erwĂ€hnen ist, nebst dem ungewöhnlichen und wirklich sehr schönen Appartment - ist die schmale langgestreckte Aussengalerie - wirkliches Mittelalterfeeling. War schön. Helga und Yves

Schöne Wohnung in super Lage

Eine stilvoll und modern eingerichtete Wohnung in einem urigen alten Haus. Es war alles sauber und schön hergerichtet. Check-in und check-out waren super organisiert, die Vermieter waren nett und unkompliziert. Turckheim ist eine super Basis um Elsass und Vogesen zu erkunden. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wirklich toll!

Im sehr niedlichen Turckheim ist die Ă€ußerst gemĂŒtliche Wohnung ca. 7 Gehminuten vom Zentrum entfernt. Lage, Einrichtung und Umgebung wie im Angebot- eben sehr idyllisch. Der Vermieter spricht gut Deutsch und ist wirklich freundlich. Unsere Erwartungen wurden insgesamt ĂŒbertroffen. Wirklich zu empfehlen!

Außergewöhnliche FeWo mit Charme fĂŒr Bewegliche

Wir hatten die oberste von 3 Ferienwohnungen in diesem mittelalterlichen GemÀuer und waren begeistert von der stimmigen, modernen Einrichtung. Man sollte allerdings gut beweglich sein auf den steilen Treppen, den niedrigen Balken und den unterschiedlichen Bodenhöhen. Dann absolut empfehlenswert!

Lejligheden i TĂŒrckheim er pĂŠn og hyggelig, og ligger udmĂŠrket i det dejlige Alsace, med fine muligheder for at vandre i byen eller i vinmarkerne bag byen. TĂŒrckheim er en hyggelig by med gode muligheder for at handle og med gode restauranter og cafe’er. Udlejeren burde dele billeder op pĂ„ VRBO, sĂ„ man tydeligt kan se hvilke billeder der hĂžrer til hvilken lejlighed, idet billederne for nuvĂŠrende dĂŠkker 2 lejligheder.
