Fantastic stay at Hotel Thin Polar in Tromso. Conveniently located near good restaurants, museums and sites. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful with extra information about transit and directions around the hotel. The room is efficient, clean, bed comfy. Hotter water in the shower would have been exceptional but adequate as is. The breakfast buffet is amazing!! Full board of every kind of breakfast wanted, both Norwegian and other cultural fare, including a very good array of gluten free food. I highly recommend Hotel Thon Polar.

The room was comfortable. The staff was very nice, except the TV in my room was "on" (grey light)..the remote would not work to turn it off, and I could not access the plug. The receptionist tried to fix it, but couldn't then she called the maintenance who never showed up. I asked about it 3 times, but it was never resolved. In fairness I could have moved to a different room but did not. The white out curtains left big verticle streaks of light. ( a little challenging to sleep in the mignight sun). The buffet breakfast was outstanding!!! wonderful staff! Location is excellent. Very Friendly receptionist staff. Lobby/ salon is comfortable, with free coffee and a great shuffleboard table. I would definitely return to this hotel, but would insist on moving to a different room right away if there were any issues.

The room is on the small side, however Thon group of hotels that boasts to have the best breakfast spread in Norway definitely holds some truth to it. Throughout my many hotels stay in Norway, I found their breakfast to be the best so far. Reception was friendly albeit check-in was a little slow due to only 1 person attending to multiple customers.

The property is in a great location right in the centre of Tromso. Rooms are clean fresh and warm. The breakfast selection was amazing with loads of choice. Would definitely stay there again in the future

Fantastic!

I'm a single woman with a 10 year old son and we had a wonderful time here. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The beds were super comfy, the room was lovely and warm. The quilts were really good quality down and little things like that make all the difference! My son and I loved the breakfast, a great variety to choose from. My son is really fussy so that's a massive compliment. The hotel was impeccably clean and I loved the body lotion in the rooms. The staff made the hotel amazing, it was good without but the friendly staff who couldn't do enough to help, really made our holiday. Thank you all at hotel thon polar. We had an amazing holiday and I hope to come back later in the year!

Small rooms, lack of storage space

The hotel is fine, but has problem: the rooms are very small and there is not really much space to put suitcases. Tricky, as there's not much storage, and they don't fit under the bed. As two people with two suitcases we found it very difficult to organise stuff.

This hotel was a perfect location for exploring the city of Tromso… Easy access to everything that you needed. Rooms were quite small, but we were able to manage just fine. Breakfast was delicious and staff was friendly and helpful.

Would not stay here again. Despite asking at reception if our room would be cleaned, it wasn’t. So we had to request clean towels. Also there was no hand soap or shower gel, it simply hadn’t been topped up enough. Breakfast is very good to be fair but the hotel is poorly managed. There’s a coffee machine by the reception area which I thought was a bonus but 1) no milk and when I asked for it they didn’t have it and 2) stacks of dirty cups just left there not cleaned away. Hotel rooms are tiny, it big enough to open your case unless it’s on the bed. Location is good. But I wouldn’t stay again, the basics like cleanliness and housekeeping have put me off

Not great, very average stay!

Friendly staff, good breakfast and that's where it kind of ended for us. Our room was located on the 2nd floor on the road side and it was super noisy. The windows are not even double glazed which means you can hear everything coming from the street level. In addition, the room noise insulation is very poor, we could hear all sorts of noises coming from other rooms. You can tell that it's an older hotel they tried to revamp but they didn't do a great job. Regarding the cleanliness of the room, it was quite poor too. The sink was not draining well so we would find yellow water that had returned from the almost blocked pipes, every morning. Additionally, the floor had not been moped for a long time since there were layers of dust under the desk and other areas of the room. Overall, for £230 a night we were very disappointed by the state of the double room we stayed at.

Not once did anyone ask me how my stay went, and the internet TV didn’t work. I notified two staff persons of this. One said “check in with us tomorrow” and so I did. The second affiliate was kind enough to come up to my room to troubleshoot but upon concluding the port was broken, “they’d send a technician.” I never heard anything about it again. This hotel was very expensive for such poor service. It would be advisable to spend just a bit more at a more reputable brand such as Radisson.
