Firstly this property appeared on a search for accommodation in 'Dullstroom'. The property description on the website had ZERO indication that it was a 45 minute really treacherous car busting 'gravel' road to reach it. To be fair this was communicated in a whatsapp AFTER the booking was made, however NO description of how bad the road was - just a 'gravel' road. Had this been the case we would not have booked here. You need a bakkie at the least to arrive unscathed here. One of our vehicles was a bakkie but not the other. Our plan was to tour the area daily over the long weekend period of 4 days however when we arrived we realised that there was no way our vehicles would survive the in and out travel on the daily. We therefore made a decision to leave the next day and asked a staff member if the person in charge was available as we needed to inform her - of which he indicated she was. We could have just left without saying anything but we did not consider this appropriate. 10 mins later a rather aggressive individual sped up to the house and asked that he heard we were leaving and there was a balance outstanding. Upon trying to communicate the issue that we cannot proceed with our plans he indicated rather threateningly (with zero hospitality skills) that the road was communicated in advance, and that his vehicle could do it, and that's our choice and the balance must be paid. When you arrive here, you cant move around and you need a very capable vehicle! Communication!
