I really liked my room as it was spacious and clean, and it was great that the room's front door was within a locked courtyard. The courtyard and grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. The small bar/restaurant on-site is very handy. Property is quiet during the day, but there is quite a bit of partying noise from nearby businesses during the evenings.

Gallo Azul is very centrally located. It was literally across the street from my language school. Check in and out we’re easy. I had trouble communicating with the host. I emailed multiple times with no reply. My fridge was having issues. I stayed in the two story side. It’s very dark during the day but I wasn’t home often. Overall a decent stay but could be freshed up a bit. And in 15 nights my room was cleaned once.

Gallo Azul was a clean, yet spartan accommodation. The facility is very attractive and a good value for the price. The location is ideal for walking around the town and just a few steps away from the bus stop.

Do not rent the “loft style suite”! When I reserved 2 weeks previously I was told I’d get a follow up email with details, but none ever came, so the “ no hotel staff” arrangement came as a surprise. What we were offered was a cave-like converted garage smack on the street, with iron security gates and a window only in the bed area up 2 steep flights of stairs, with the bathroom, stoic kitchen and a couch downstairs. After consulting by phone with a remote manager, the one staff person present did change us for a regular room, but didn’t credit the difference in price, nor did management respond to a message sent via Expedia. Not their fault, but some nightclub nearby was blasting techno disco until 2:30 am, and we could hear it loudly in our room with windows closed. Made us all the more aware of the cheap pillows and pilly sheets. In the morning we found long blond or white hairs ( which neither of us have) on everything stored on the floor under the desk-like counter. On the plus side, the courtyard with pool is pretty and serene, and the cats quite charming.

We opted for a unit without cooking facilities as they were lofts. Very spacious and exactly like the pictures. Garden pool area is beautiful. Hotel 1/2 blk from bus depot. Great location to access everything. Pizza restaurant on premises. Thin crusts and not bad at all! A little confusion at check in as I must have missed the note to collect key and make our payment at their on site pizza. Be warned, check in is exactly 3PM and not earlier. Great place!
